I am an owner of a Wheel Stand Pro and a DFGT. And great fun it is, I have no problem with this setup.

Recently I've been looking at the Fanatec wheels and want to get one in the future, however there are some things that need to be sorted out.

Buying the Fanatec wheel stand is NOT an option because I have a very low counch and can only use the WSP with the main tube (where the wheel is attached to) at its lowest height; as far as I know the Fanatec wheelstand does not go this low.

Second problem is mounting the wheel. I have the base for the DFGT (which came with the WSP obviously) I know that if you want to upgrade to a G25/27 you'll need to get the different plate from the WSP-guys to be able to mount it and the gear-stick. As far as I can see the Fanatec gear-stick doens't need a mount as it will be held aloft by the two bars sticking out of the wheel....right?

My question is this: will a fanatec wheel be firmly mounted on a WSP with the normal (DFGT compatible) plate? Will it hold? I do have some screw holes on the plate but have no idea it they will work. How are the Fanatec clamps?

I'd appreciate any info on this matter because it's the only thing holding me back, and what better place to ask than the GTP community!

Thanks in advance!

Hi, supposedly new Rennsport Wheel stand V2, as more options to adjust ie tilt at a angle not just vertical.
Theres a Template been posted a few times, for holes required for Fanatec wheels ie Drill yourself etc. Think all Fanatec Wheels same, but not 100% sure. I can't find it etc, maybe someone as a link thou. Or search about.

Cheers BOB

Have you considered an Xlerator wheel stand? It's adjustable to site above your lap on a couch. I ordered their new model which is actually meant for a Fanatec or G27 wheel, but my current DFGT wheel mounts right onto it with no problem.

You could also drill out the hard mounting holes onto the WSP using the template they provide you. You could also make your own wheel stand(There are folding designs out there that you can copy and change for your low height couch). You can get a lot of inspiration from the cheap cockpit thread.

Thanks for the replying everyone.

About the holes that can be drilled, is this possible on the DFGT mount on the WSP? Plus, does anyone have any pictures of the clamping mechanism of a Fanatec wheel? I simply can't find it anywhere?

And no else has made the switch as I intend to make, going from a DFGT with WSP to a Fanatec wheel without changing the WSP (because of my counch height this i not an option)?

Hi, theres a PDF somewhere, with Template on it, as i said can't find it thou.
This should be enough info, for you thou.

At least for my Fanatec GT3RS V2(think all wheels same thou). Wheel is mounted with 4 studs, so 4 holes. If you draw a slim rectangle, & put a hole on each corner, you have the template as such. Dimensions measured off, cardboard template i have are:-

17cms x 3cms (centre Lines of Holes). If you are sat holding wheel, 17cms would be width & 3cms depth.
Just for info, holes themselves are 7mm, to take i assume 6mm studs. The 4 holes are near front of wheel housing, a bit of space on plate(near to you) for rubber ads/ feet etc, wouldn't go amiss.
If you can drill these 4 holes in your WSP mounting plate your good to go. You could make a seperate mounting plate ie bolt this to wheel, then this to your mounting plate on WSP. A bit more work required thou, unfortunately.

Cheers BOB

I have done the exact switch you are asking about: DFGT with non-G27 WSP to using a Fanatec wheel. Works fine after drilling two holes in WSP base...on my cell phone and can't post link, but search for thread I started about fanatec user review for info and pics

I have a WSP and fanatec wheel, it screwed into the 4 pre drilled holes on the stand. so no problem for you there. As far as pedals are concerned, I have standard pedals, attached with cable ties, I really dont know how well the clubsports will fit on. Theres a thread on here somewhere with pictures of mods somebody did to their stand to get them to fit.

Here is a page for the template for the fanatec Carrera(and of course take note of the instructions under the download). You find the templates in the support tab.
