Going from GT5 to GT6 with DFGT

In GT5 I was a consistently quick online racer but I took a year or so off to pursue other interests. I was never the fastest but I could always stay on the bumpers of the lead pack and strike when people made mistakes. I've been playing GT6 for a week now and it just doesn't feel right. I'm guessing it is the tire model or new tire sounds but even the steering feedback doesn't feel right. I've checked the settings and I am using Simulation mode for the wheel. Has anyone else encountered issues? Do you have any tips on how to adjust my driving style?
 
don't know if it's of any help but I increased the force feedback from 4 to 6 after a few weeks playing gt6 as it felt a lot lighter than it did in gt5.car feel is a lot different to me,much better now.
 
Compared to GT5 it doesn't feel right, but that's not saying GT5 was "correct" or "right" in the first place.
I played GT5 with a wheel a couple years ago, did not like it.
Went back to it a few days ago and compared to GT6, it still doesn't feel good.
I guess you just have to get used to it.
