If money is no object, go for everything.

2.7GHz
1 GB of RAM
128 MB video card (or 64 if you want)
140 GB HDD
DVD-RW/CD-RW combo drive

Thanks toyomatt84, I did do some searching, but I just wanted you opinions, instead of listening to some guy at a store that’s just trying to make a sale.

Well then bud, if you want to game at all on it, I'd highly recommend going for the 1gig of ram and the 2.8ghz cpu. I would even stress going for a better graphics card.

Now, for graphics design, I'd go for atleast a 2.4 P4 and a gig of ram for rendering. Plus, if you go into some large artwork pieces, you're going to want a large hdd to back them up.

Why not just look around and pick anything that appeals to you since money is no object in this case.

Yea i was looking at powerbooks, but since my friend is getting parts for somewhere, hes only chargeing me around $300, its a deal right there.

2.8GHz 1gig RAM huh ok go it. Thanks fot the tips.

Good luck trying to game it up on that.

Alienware?

Custom built is cool, but on notebooks I prefering buying them with corporate backing. Fixing laptops can be a biatch.

And, as a side note, I configured some Alienware with a 3GHz P4, 6800Go, 1GB DDR2, 60GB 7200RPM, 17" LCD, for under $2800, so...
[edit]That is, $2800 american, but you could do somethign similar for a better price.

eek my pocket...

Well thanks for the feedback guys. I bought my laptop last night. I give you guys the specs tonight when i get home from work. Its not crazy insane, but it will do the job. Maybe you guys could help me upgrade it in the near future.

I'm back to being broke with a fat debt for my car....2100 to pay off still
Its worth it for the rx-7...

IBM ThinkPad
Windows XP Pro 2002
Intel Pentium III processor 796MHz :(
384 MB of RAM
DVD-CD rom
20GB harddrive :(

It does the job for now. My next aim would be Alienware, or Vaio.Thats in the far future...
