I'm sure there has been a "Tattoo" thred done before, But I thought I might post a pic of the design I drew up, for the tattoo I'm getting tomorrow. I have put alot of thought into this. (as I should, considering its going to be permanent!!) so what do you guys think? Honest opinions here!

Its my first tattoo, so I'm a little nervous. (doesn't help I invited my ex GF to come witness the event :nervous: ) But I'm set on the idea and in my opinion its pretty tastefull. No skulls or naked chicks for me!

Anyways, I would also like to here some stories from any members who have tattoos themselves, feel free to post some pics! Any tattoo stories are welcome as well.

Grats man, as long as you put enough thought into it you should love it. I was sitting on mine for about a year and a half before I was happy enough with it to put it on me for life. I was under the needle for about 4.5 hours, after about 2 the guy stopped and told me to check it out. I figured he was all done. NOPE, just finished the outline. Here's a pic of mine though,

OH, and if it's in a hairy spot prepare to have a bald spot for a while.

Not to tear into you or anything, but...

If you're going to personalise your body, why go for a quasi-Celtic symbol which, though not identical, is broadly similar to the ones that everyone else on Earth who has a tattoo has?

What does that symbol mean to you? Why is it relevant to you? What about you, as a person, can be represented by a Celtic cross?

Nah, I understand. Its a good question.

My ancestors were irish-catholic, and even my parents were raised that way. I'm proud of my heritage and also plan to get my family crest tattooed onto my arm. I may not have grown up in Ireland, but I grew up with alot of the same values and traditions. It may seem silly to others but it makes scence to me. i'm proud of who I am and where my ancestors came from.

Edit: My grandmother is also Irish-catholic, and she is currently dieing in the hosptal with lung cancer. I am very close to her. You could also say its a bit of a tribute to her and my granfather who passed away of cancer two years ago. Its on his grave stone and soon to be on me.

If it floats your boat 👍

Remember to keep it somewhere easily concealable though - prospective employers tend to draw conclusions about people with tattoos.

The second I'm old enough, I'm having this...

Sure, people say I like Mercedes-Benz too much... :)

Be careful. Tattoos are addicting. Once you have one...

Depending on where it goes, the level of pain varies. I had my first one on my upper back/shoulder blade and I fell asleep as he was doing it. Bled alot though.

Yeah I could see that. I've had both my nipples peirced, and compared to that this probably wont hurt a bit  so I'm not worried about the pain.

I really hope you take the time to go over the design with the artist and clean up the design. You gotta sharpen up those lines.

I don't get why people want tattoos.

Okay, shockingly misguided religion-based opinion time:-

Your body is a gift from God and should be treated with respect, ie don't have permanent pieces of "art" all over it!

On a side note, an uncle of mine has a tattoo of a he-man barbarian-type on his upper arm, and his swords sheath hangs down between his legts looking very conspicuous.

Yeah, I havn't drawn in like 5 years . So its just a freehand drawing I did so the artist could get an idea of what I wanted. then he re-drew it.

Its on my back now! (i'll have pics up eventually) It only took just over two hours and really didnt hurt that much. There were a few painfull spots right over the spine, but other than that it wasnt bad at all :)

Word, man. Hope you didn't take offense or anything.

Nah, no worries. I'm just glad I have some drawing ability  I was told by the guy doing my tattoo that you wouldnt belive all the people who come in with a design drawn by their kids, and ask to have it done exactly like that.

i'd want to be able to answer all of those questions in detail before i put a permenant image on my body.

I recently had two more tatoos stabbed into my body. I got each of the two on my chest the same night. I was feeling sorta woozy when the picture was taken. Let me know what you think.

I don't care for tatoos, really. But I must say, that is a beautiful design you came up with there. It should turn out really good. 👍

Well I thought I might update with a pic of my tattoo, this pic was taken right after it was done with my cell phone (looks a little washed out) :)

Holy crap, that thing is huge! (insert "that's what she said...")

Personally, I think you should've gone smaller. Cool tat, though. I hope you enjoy it.

Wow. That's a cool tattoo you've got there. And all around the skin is red lol. I know why. Anyways, good luck with your new tattoo!

How have other people outside of GTP reacted?

Nice tattoo, it's good to support your heritage. I've been thinking about tattoos, and I like the idea of getting this.
vwgear.gif

It's the original VW logo that was made during WWII, they changed it since some people thought it was associated too much with the holocaust. I'd have to wait though, being 14 means I still have growing to do, not to mention it'd be illegal. Maybe I could have it done in the German colors too.

Anyone want to check the last post of the first page and tell me what they think? ;)

I'm not really into crosses as tatooes but to each his own. It doesn't take away from my feeling that that is a very well done tatoo there powripper.

the one on YOUR right is ok...the other one I don't know what it is.

I've been also wanting to get a tatoo, but thinking about it, once you get old, your skin streches and wrinkles; a tatoo would look soooo deformated and de-colored that it wouldn't even represent anything anymore because you can barely appreciate the drawing. And also I can imgine myself thinking : What the hell was I thinking when I got this ugly a** drawing on my beloved skin!

You gotta think ahead.

Ciao!

Thanks for all the comments guys :D

And Jjacks, I think your tattoos are wicked, I plan to get both my family crests in the same locations...very cool:tup:
