Gold times are sometimes easy. Platinum anyone?

Platinum X2010 Event *Shudders*

Here would be what I would like, take the event "Grand Tour - Eiger Nordwand"

That is one of the harder golds but a Platinum would be a time of 15.500 or better (maybe 14 or better? then only the really fast guys or Aliens could get it right off the bat the rest of use would have to spend more time practicing/mastering the race ).
I think the Platinum time should give even the "Fast Guys" a good challenge.
Just remembered this:
The absolute aliens would master it down to 14.5 at best.
I wasn't signed up that week, but I reckon I'd max out around 15.3, maybe with luck a 15 flat.:scared:

I think all three Vettel challenges deserve a platinum(and in-game) PSN trophy, to be honest. Without glitches of course, still have Suzuka to gold.:yuck:

Geoff, have you had a look over at the GTP Weekly Race Series (WRS)? It's a series of time trials against some (not all) of the faster drivers around. Many of the Division 1 drivers are GT Academy finalists in their respective regions, so it's a good measure and a great place to learn.

Have a look here as a starting point, and then here for the qualifier 👍

This. :)

I would be lost getting a 14....
I would think a Platinum would be for maxing a car to the limit. Something that would take time to master. So with some said "I have 3 Platinums" that would be impressive.

Wouldn't actual online leaderboards for each race or event be better? With the option to assort them according to DS3 vs wheel, or manual vs standard, your own country, your friends, etc. You could then set percentile times for yourself: times that would get you into the top 1%, 5%, 10%, and so on so that you could aim for something in your skill range and slowly progress.

I would really like to know how many people are in the TT without having to run a slow lap with another account. For example, if I am 2777 place, what does that mean? There could be 2800 racers, or 280k races, a big difference on where I placed.

Wouldn't it be soooo amazing if PD bowed down and gave us super special platinum if we were as perfect as you? Give us a break with these 🤬 elitist threads...we get that you're all better than us losers

I don't like people with attitudes like yours.

On topic, I would love a platinum time to aim for, in some things like License tests. Just keep it so that you only need golds to receive the all gold trophy trophy. Only problem is SRF is on for license tests which kills the whole thing.

No they are achievable. You just need to suck it up and keep trying.

Didn't GT2 give a weird medal if you tie the gold time exactly? It wasn't gold that was for sure.

Doubt they ever will, seeing they nerfed some of the gold times and made others easier to get (by not DQ you after a collision).

It would make the next GT game more fun for me if they do. Either that or have fixed leaderboards for all the game events which might make things even better.

CSLACR
I think every game should have hidden "platinum" levels to reach for everything, with bonus.
:D
Seriously, hidden platinum things are sweet, racing games usually don't have them, and they're the one place I could get them easiest.

I agree with you completely. I'm all for hidden Platinum times, and that extra secret reward or what-not.

@OP: if you are tired from the licenses, then you should try out the licenses before they got patched. :sly:

There you'll get disqualified for the slightest contact with the opponents, walls, etc. Really tough ones, I can tell you.
Still don't get it why they have patched it. They weren't as ridiculous as the Vettel Challenge, not even nearly. :ouch:

And I don't like people who complain things are too easy when for others they are totally unachievable...

Do you realise that fast drivers realise that for some drivers their times are unachievable? If a game was really easy and most people could do it, yet others couldn't, it's acceptable to suggest that the difficulty of the game should be increased. Yet just because the minority of GT5 players want a harder time to aim for, that means, according to you, the game can't implement it, or people can't even suggest it? Read the OP again. He was hardly complaining. It's called a suggestion.

I've still got bronzes on some of the brake tests on the licences and can't better them. Hard as nails them, but they should really be one of the easier ones to get.

How good are you if you feel you need it to be harder?! :D

Sorry i just noticed this thread pop up to the top.

I would say I'm pretty average to be honest. But i would say i have very good patience and really like improving my times. Always have done right back to GT1.

Last week i restarted the whole thing back to A Spec 0 B Spec 0. I'm working on the licenses right now....44 golds and 2 silvers so far. Being a family man, I can't smash away at the game whenever i want, so it takes quite a bit longer than you lucky bachelors that only have to worry about where the next beer or pizza comes from.

I'm glad some of you agree with me and wonder why some of you take exception to some of us wanting to push it to the limit and squeezing off another few tenths of a second?

This was the way for me back in GT1 and continues to enthral me almost 14 years later.

Cheers.

That'd be a great idea Platinum times... sounds nice.
Reminds me of great times on Crash Team Racing, ah the nostalgia...
But I don't like to complain about game's difficulty, I like it easy and I like it as it is since there is a point where going faster only equalls more frustration and that is something I am not fond of.
Anyways lads, if you feel the game is too easy - to it like I did, do everything again but without ABS, new level of immersion for sure. :)
