If you like Halo 2, Red Faction, Second Site, Soccom 2, Killzone, Dead To Rights or ANY first person shooter game then you will absolutely love this game! Lots of snipering, tons of enemies that are more than challenging as the game progress. I am sooo impressed with the gameplay in Golden Eye that this is now at the top of my favorite first person games. I give it at least a 9.2. I am currently on the Octopus level and almost finished with it.. The most difficult level I have finished so far is the Dam. At a certain point there are well over 10-14 tanks and many people to kill. Extremely difficult. I dont think anyone could make it on their first try.
The weapon selection make this such a fun game. Here are some of the highlights so far that I have noticed and I have about 8 hours into it.
As you progress thru the levels you aquire special "golden eye" items to give you more advantages against the enemies. Here are all the different things you can do with the golden eye upgrades to allow you to use soo much strategy:
1. See thru objects to locate enemies just like in Red Faction. You also get a rail gun so when you see the enemy just shoot thru anything to kill them.
2. you get a shield that can be activated at any time to reduce enemy fire
3. with the third item you can cause the enemies guns to malfunction right in their hands. This item also allows you to turn on and off buttons from across the room. You can also cause enemy turrets to start firing agains the enemy.
4. The final power allows you to grab an enemy with telikenses powers and throw them in any direction. Throw them into other enemies, into objects, or toward yourself to collect thier guns.
Your energy in this game is just like Halo 2. Once you are injured just hide for a few seconds and let it recharge. Only takes a few seconds and believe me you will need it!
Now for some of the guns! I dont know the names exactly but I will describe the best I can for now. There are 14-16 total but these are my favorite guns.
1. Electric gun. This gun allows you to shoot out a charge that sticks to people or items then you just detinate when you want
2. Rail gun- Just like in Red Faction. This is the only gun that will shoot thru any wall or object to kill enemies in the room.
3. Sniper gun. There are several of these. Some of them are semi automatic and the other one is a straight up sniper. I use these a lot because there are so many enemies that if you run out into the open you will be killed unless you pick off a few of them first
4. Pistols. your basic pistols. Some are a lot more powerful than others.
5. Shot gun. Very powerful up close
6. Mini gun. Mow down many guys with this weapon
7. Tranqualizer. Stuns the enemy for a few seconds then you can kill them or take them hostage
The dual wielding weapon option is the best I have seen in any game so far. You can decide which gun you want in either hand. If you prefer a pistol in the left then put it in the left while you hold a different gun in the right hand. Or switch hands. Or you can carry the same gun in both hands.
You also can hold people hostage and use them as a human shield then throw them across the room when you are finished with them.
The surround sound is very impressive. You can easily hear where anything is in the game. If a helicopter is flying around you just sit and listen to where its at then shoot.
Graphics are pretty good. Nothing extraordinary but they are good.
Here are the ONLY negative things I have found in the game so far.
1. Cant jump
2. No blood
I havent played online but the single player alone is soooo good that I might have to try it out some time.
I would say this is a must rent and once you get past the first level or 2 you have soo much strategy you can use in each level after that and your mind will constantly be challenged. 👍 👍

My friend bought this the other day and I had a go on it and I have to say I was disappointed. I know that you are playing for the other team in this and that it is a very different game but I thought Nightfire was better in terms of Bond games. My friend who bought it is returning it tomorrow. I'd have to say that this game is not worth buying, merely a rent if you feel you must play it.

ill have to try it soon i just rented out call of duty and i thought that was the best shooting game ive ever played and im planning to buy it and all the reviews said it was crap so dont judge it on gay ign reviews or whatever because their not always right.

Can't be better then Killzone. But I guess one day if I get bored I'll rent it out and see for myself. As code_kev seems to be a sole Halo 2 player and dislikes Killzone so I might have to see for myself.

Golden Eye 2 sucks (for a lack of a better term).

You know a game sucks when you shoot an enemy in the head and he goes down in a shower of blue sparkles.

Pick up the original N64 game which is miles ahead of this pile of crap.

No its not better than Killzone but it would be a good rental. I am on the last level of the game and I have about 10+ hours into this so far. I personally think this is a lot more challenging that Halo 2 was in the single player. (both on medium) I beat Halo 2 in 8 hours and never ran into any difficult levels at all. I do lile Halo 2 a lot and its still one of the best FPS I have ever played. But of all the FPS I have played including Call of Duty, Killzone, Halo 2 and others, the single player of Golden eye was way more fun than I would have ever expected. And yes I heard this game sucked too but it ended up quite fun.
Conclusion I would at least say RENT IT and in around 10-12 hours you should be able to beat it. 👍

Thats a tough call. Each game has something that is great about it. I would say overall they are very close IMO. I didnt play Golden eye online but I dont think there is any way it could be better than Killzone online. BUt like I said I didnt play so I cant post a credible reply to how Golden eye online is.
I would say they are both around the same rating if your into FPS games. The available options that I listed just made Golden Eye sooo much fun and it added soo much more strategy than just going around killing everyone. You really had to decide how you were going to take out all the guys in a room. The Golden Eye features were just awesome! Golden eye just seemed to have all the good stuff from other games all wrapped up into 1 game. 👍

Does EA runs it´s server? That´s all one has to know to see if the online mode is good. :p

Not to go off-topic but i'm curious Camaroboy, is the online play for Killzone fun?

It sucks.I agree with VZ the first one is miles of head of this piece of crap.AI? Ha sucks.Rechargeable energy? I'll just stick to Halo if I want rechargeable energy.Multiplayer doesn't have the GE for the N64 feeling but if you like it then that's your opinion but this is my opinion.

Whats wrong with Tiesto?!

Although, I do have to admit that if he scored an entire game, he'd use the same song between 6 and 25 times.

camaroboy, I'm going to harshly disagree with you.

this game both sucks and blows simultaneously. I advise staying away from it and picking up the legitimate 64 version, or for cheap thrills Nightfire, which goes for cheap.

this game is at best a 6 in my book. Better than Killzone merely for the fact that it doesnt trip over itself so often.

And to the people yammering about killzone being good.... I guess somebody out there has to like crappy things. Perhaps to keep balance in the universe?

I just beat this game a few minutes ago. I still keep my review exactly how I stated it in the beginning. 👍 The last level took me about 2-3 hours to beat. Some of the enemies had a gun so powerful you would be vaporized instantly. The only reason I can see some people hating this game is due the level of dificulty. If something is too hard then someone usually doesnt like it and this game is very far from easy. :)
I think I had around 12-15 hours into this compared to 8 in Halo 2.

I believe there was a Sharebear amongst the many carebears.

From the sounds of it, this game is a complete rip of Silent Dark, which was a complete rip of Goldeneye. Golden Eye: R.A. is therefore a rip of GoldenEye and Silent Dark. Which mean's you've definately accomplished something.
