It was like a scene from a Hollywood heist movie - a gang of raiders used a stolen van to smash through gates to steal top performance cars from a garage. They then drove one of the cars at top speed down the motorway outrunning anything the police could put in their way, echoing the plot of the Nicolas Cage blockbuster Gone In 60 Seconds.

But this was not a tall tale from the scriptwriter's pen - it all happened in Gloucester yesterday.

The hooded raiders took three imported, high-performance cars from Mercury Valeting Services, off Bristol Road, in Gloucester at about 12.45am.

The driver then took one of the vehicles - a 650 brake horsepower Nissan Skyline R32 GTR with a top speed of more than 220 miles an hour - and reportedly took just seven minutes to get from Gloucester to Bristol along the M5.

The vehicle, tuned to racing standards, was later discovered abandoned in the car park at Frenchay Hospital, in Bristol.

The cars had recently been imported from Japan and are believed to have been stolen to order by the gang.

:D

What would it be from Onramp to offramp of the M5?

:p

either way it looks like they were doing inexcess of 170mph

Here's the route :p

Looks like you'd get on the M5 5.15 miles into the journey and come off it at 25.67 miles into the journey, making the distance covered on the M5 approximately 20.52 miles.

20.52 miles in 7 minutes is, according to my shoddy maths, an average of 175.89mph. Not bad going
