Okies, I've recently found out that MR cars suits my drifting style like a glove. this far, I've noticed that such cars as first gen MR2, Clio V6 sport, R5 turbo II and Pug 205 T16 are good MR driftcars. is there other MR cars that could be used?

and now that I remember, all these cars have stock suspension, because if i try to tune them, they end up having too sharp handling and the result is spinning. never the less, I managed to win the mr cup in the beginner league with 150 bhp first gen MR2, that had weight reductions, clutch and flywheel done, but nothing else. not a wing. and the cars I was racing against were Lotus Esprit, Lotus Elise, Speedster turbo and NSX.. it was tight, but I managed to slip past them when going from outside and sliding the corners doorhandle first! and this was done with DS2..

I also have fallen in love with Initial D.. because, it's more realistic than one could think. there's a vid at streetfire.net, where R34 GT-R got beaten in touge by hachiroku! :dopey:  so, the performance of AE86 isn't exaggerated after all..

uh oh... another innocent bystander turned fanboy... hehe

List of MR's in GT4

I think an NSX defintiely deserves to be on your list - they're great for drifting. The Proto Spirra, MGF, and MG TF160 are other personal favs of mine. As far as Kei's go, Honda Beats and Mazda AZ-1's are kinda fun if you fiddle with the ballast weight bias (without adding any weight). They make for a fun trip around motorland, but most other places they feel too wimpy to really tear it up.

In that vid of the two 86's beating the R34. I think the driver in the 34 was less skilled than the others. He made a mistake which gave them the chance to pass.... have yet to try and drift an MR.

Ok, shut up everyone about the stupid skyline video. No one cares.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. All 3 Toyota MR2's are good for drifting, I haven't used the NSX much so I dunno how good it is. The MGF is an awesome drifter, great for long smokey ones.

Wow I was just putting my 2 cents in about that video because about what he said. And I put what I thought about MR drifters well not really. But it was related to the topic.

The Clio Phase 2 is my definitive favorite.. The Speedster is also quite good, but I have to say I haven't drifted a lot of MRs

Honda NSXs are good, check the Drift setting depot for settings. Delphic Reason's NSX Concept R settings are worth checking out

Thanks bud...

I would have to say the NSX's are quite user friendly... Also, the MR2's/MRS's and Clios are very capable drift cars...

;)

My vote goes to the Proto Motors Spirra. Terrifically loose car on N-tires, and stable handling once you get it sideways.

Thank you very much about these answers! :) I will try them out asap.. the thing that delays me is that i want to use either new ones, or 6.2 mile ones as the sideways machines..

I tried MR and hmmm I don't got it down like the MR2 driver in Initial D :P. Too much grip in back I understeer a lot. And when I get the car sideways I gain grip even at full throttle Maybe I jsut need more HP.

Lancia Stratos. Such a good drifter, it drifts even when you don't want it too. And thats on S2's! On N-tires it so much fun, that only the Peugeot 205 T16 can beat it.

MR cars tend to feel gripy. The take off is dif from a FR.. It just Goes in stead of sitting there burning out.. Its very weird indeed...

do a test.. take a stock fr car and toss it sideways into a corner. then, take mrcar and do the same. imo, MR cars are more stabile to drift..

I'm a big fan of my 80's MR2 SC. Flingin' that car around Autumn ring is a good way to waste a couple hours. My Autobac's MRS or whatever isn't bad either, after a lil tweekin' it started holding some good drifts for me.

you may all think that i'm completely daft but the CLK GTR is quite a good car for some long but low angle drifts on the motorland track... with it being such a long car if the angle gets to much i thinks its a helicopter propellor... i agree with the 206 t16 evo 2 as a good drift car... good **** on tight tracks, i love the beat on motorland aswell but thats very similar to the mazda autozam.. lift off over steer is good for MR cars... but also works remarkably well with the DODE LARAMIE 1500 HEMI pick up... had that insanely sideways on FUJI and recovered it...

Anyone know of any AWD midships? I can't find any, so probably not. But then you could drive it like a Yokohama drfting RC. Just throw it sideways and it'll hold, no liberal countersteer required. Also, this is a bit of a stretch, but I was wondering if an RX-7 or 8 would count because technically the engine is close to the center of the car, giving a near 50/50 weight distribution... does the engine really have to be right behind the driver? And does anyone else find it hard to use N! tires in the rear of an MR since the weghit is biased a little more towards the rear? The centrifugal force of the engine keeps spinning me out. As the MR2 guy in Initial D said, "One of the biggest drawbacks of an MR is the spinout factor," or something like that.

if you care to use that logic, then how about Leno's Tank Car? the engine is positioned well behind the front axle..... :sly:
heheh

Does it say MR in the drivetrain type? nope didn't think so... the engine is still positioned towards the front of the chassis, they are indeed FR.
I get what you're trying to say, but the handling characteristics still have much more in common with FR's then your run of the mill MR.

I havent had any trouble using even N1's on MR's. You just have to be quick to catch it as it starts to come loose - attention to LSD tuning can make them a tad more forgiving.

I never put LSD on my cars. after that, they do not turn at all.. and if I do put LSD on them, it's usually the 1.5 thingie. my first gen MR2 became undriveable after getting FC LSD.. no matter how I tuned it, the car didn't turn anymore and I took it off and nothing could stop me from going sideways where ever I wanted..
