bad news:

I am the next victim of the "Saved game is corrupted" crap from ****ty GT4. I am always careful to make sure the game is completely idle before I turn it off.

good news:

a trailer from gran turismo on the PS3. (repost? I dunno, I don't come around here very often any more).

And you're missed, for sure. Your disappointment in GT4 is certainly understandable, though.

BTW, there's a theory floating around that GT4 has always been intended to be run on the PS3, and what we have now is a throttled-back version for the old PS2. It would just be a matter of re-setting the parameters such as number of cars in a race, full pits versus empty pits, etc. Sounds silly at first, but considering how buggy it is, it isn't that crazy to think its running on the "wrong" platform. Theory goes that it will be fully opened up for the PS3, re-named, and bundled with the new machine as an added incentive for PS3 sales.

Remember, the new console is fully backward-compatible, so this could be technically possible.

Sorry to hear 'bout the saved game corruption - Im waiting to be hit by that one!!
Thanks for the video but... I dont notice much difference between GT4 on the lowley PS2. I mean its the same tracks the same cars. Ok the graphics appear shaper and the 'game' appears smoother - oh and they added a nice pit sequence but how much of this was actually performed on the PS3 and not just knocked together on some PC somewhere. I for one hope GT5(?) on the PS3 will be significantly different - same game just different tracks (keeping the 'ring though!) and different cars - and a drag mode which I chatted a bit about on another post!!
Come on PD please offer me a design/concept job of some type. Please?

i think GT4 "visuals" shuld come out end of this year FOR THE PS2!?
I heard it on giga games yesterday....
""there´ll be a online version of GT4 this summer and at the end of this year a new game of the GT aera, called GT "visuals" with more cars and more tracks...""

but i don´t understand why PD just doesn´t put that 2 "games" (online, visuals) together into 1 game!...what do they think? now i have to buy BOTH games or what!?

to be fare im not that impressed, if thats what gt looks like for the ps3, granted the idea of more than 6 cars at anyone time on track appeal, but im not botherd about the people in the pits, they could take them out for all i care and give us higher poly cars, and also they cant be pushing the ps3 to the max when the cars are going to be that low a poly count coz acording to some peole from pixar, ps3 will be able to push more than 50,000 poly per character and that the ps3 will make the finding nemo game look like the film. (this is just probably hype) but im just happy that we will be able to play a version on ps3 close to release. :)

It's all about buisness man. That's the way they planned it. All they know is money. Wouldn't you do the same.

I don't understand what's all the winning is all about. I think the clip looks great. It's only a clip, a very small one I might add. People have no idea what else to expect out of this game and it may be here sooner than GT4 came about. I haven't completed GT4 yet and Now "Vision GT" is on clips!!!! All I can say is wow. People are never satified.....................................

I don't care at all about GT5 or the PS3 yet. I still have plenty of games that are good, and I don't get why every single person on the entire planet loves online games. Sure the competition is better but you don't accomplish anything with it. Just my two cents.

It's the GT4 engine applied on the PS3, with certain limits (like the number of cars) removed. This video is *NOT* GT5 footage, but rather GT4 footage on PS3 hardware, used to demonstrate aspects of the vision of what is to come (more cars, fully working pit lanes and etc).

Relax guys, this is no where near the end product ... it's a trailer, a teaser.

as stated above, its simply GT4 on a PS3, so its able to display more cars and things like that.

Exactly.

Which makes you think that "GT4 For The PS3", or "Vision Gran Turismo" or "GT4 Unleashed", or whatever they call it, will be bundled with the PS3 as a sales incentive.

If the game was always intended for this, it would explain a lot of the problems we have with it on the PS2. Like I said, we could be running it on the wrong platform. Meanwhile, Sony and PD have made a fortune on it already.

Good for them, I guess. Now they have all the money they need to develop GT5, which would be the first "real" GT game for the PS3.

Here's another clue: I count 22 JGTC cars running in the demo. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I remember a forum post from a while back saying that several of the new-to-GT4 tracks have 22 painted-on starting grid spots. I'll check that tonight.

I feel your pain. Back up to 14% after being just under 50%. Oh well. Golds are easier the second time around anyway. ;)

BTW Greyout (didn't realize it was you posting orginally), sorry to hear about the corrupted data ... going to try and make sure that I back mine up to my maxdrive every week!

well i turn it of when it is loadin gthe main screen and i never lost any data

Well that promo video looks to me about as good quality as the opening movie for GT4, i.e. very good.

Thing is, it doesn't mean that GT5 will look like that, after all on the promo it actually says 'vision gran turismo'. As we all know a vision is a desired picture of the future and they do not always come to reality.

For instance my vision is Amanda Donohoe turning up at my house dressed as a schoolteacher, but just 'cos it's my vision don't mean it's gonna happen!!

I've read this many times and paranoid, started copying memory cards *outside of GT4* using PS2's browser. Does anyone know if this is safe? Or will both cards be corrupted when the fateful glitch hits?

Thanks,

I would think that it would be ok.

I always dismissed the error when reported by others, because I figured people were turning the game off in the middle of an autosave right after the game goes back to the main menu in GT mode. I always make the sure the save icon is OFF, and let the game sit for 10-15 seconds, before I turn off the console. I never remove the memory card from the console either.

I always dismiss...either.

My MO as well. Oftentimes I'll go to the Home screen, save there, and shut the PS2 off only when that sequence is finished. Sad to say but if I lost all of my progress and cars, I'd be hard pressed to start from the beginning. I also agree with your `shutting off PS2 in the middle of an auto-save' theory. If one can't shut off a PS2 in the middle of a regular type of save, why would an auto-save be any different. I did notice the auto-save function can be disabled.

Thanks for the input.

Good to see the Ring will be in GT5....racing against 15 opponents.....yihaa!

Ha! If they took out the Ring there would be riots in the streets!

what doesn't PD just freakin tell us what vision GT is all about? instead they just throw out this clip and have us all guessing and on our toes. dont they atleast give some kind of report out? or just let rumors fly around the world like fire.

This is being discussed to death in the GT5 forum.
