I'll just post it here since it's related to SPEED. Hunter Nickell(President of SPEED) is resigning, while there is no replacement, hopefully this means the end of constant NASCAR.

I think the programming would have to do more with the parent network than the President himself. Since Fox owns Speed, and they are all about NASCAR, then I don't expect the programming to change much, if at all.

The only thing I hope for is the non-motorsports shows get canned. I don't care if a ride "rules" or is dumb.

I guess there's no hoping for the SPEED of a decade ago.

Yep, Lost Drive-In, Legends of Motorsport, Victory by Design, decent coverage of WRC and other "obscure" motorsports.

Good times, good times.

It was Speedvision along with Gran Turismo that kick started my racing passion all those years ago. Probably the case for others too I'm sure.

I just wish SPEED could be more like ESPN in their coverage! ESPN is either sports or shows talking about sports or articles about sports (Outside the Lines, E-60) which I would love to see with something like racing. Now granted, one could argue that there's a lot more going on in the U.S. with sports than there is Auto racing, but I would counter argue that we have Grand-Am, ALMS, World Challenge plus all three levels of NASCAR prime series as well as ARCA, NASCAR Pro Series East and West, all NHRA events plus other drag racing, IRL and even Indy Lights and a number of other smaller series and events like Rally America, Motocross and Supercross, Lucas Oil Off road racing, Monster Truck racing, AMA Street bikes and Formula Drift. Granted some of those (IRL and Formula D and World Challenge) have deals with NBC Sports aka VS. but those could certainly be followed up on with news and general reporting.

Then you have to count all the potential international series that are about to start coming to our country like Formula 1, V8 Supercars and the WTCC. Plus DTM is going to launch an American series here! This is a perfect time to grow a good channel that looks more like ESPN and less like Discovery/History/MTV.

Eventually there could be proper Speed coverage of events like the Nurb 24 Hours, World Endurance Challenge, DTM and the BTCC! Maybe even FIA GT1/GT3/GT4 races and open wheel coverage for events like F2/F3 Euroseries! Also add Super GT to the list and expand the V8 Supercar events with proper SPEED coverage.

The dreams of hopeful men... I hope so too

There was BTCC and DTM on last night. Too bad it was at 1am / 2am my time and I had to get up at 7am for work. :grumpy:
