Good Races

Lots of threads complaining about incidents and such, but what about the best races you've had?

Yesterday was probably the most enjoyable day I've had in the game since I purchased it - four wins, two podiums, three pole positions including the single best race I've been a part of yet; a race-long battle against another driver in the Audi TT race at Interlagos, exchanging the lead a few times with some defensive and tactical driving, but always racing cleanly. He slightly tapped me on the way into the final braking zone which gave him a run up the hill in my slipstream, so I took a tight line and made him go the long way around. In the end I pipped him to the flag by 0.038s! He sent me a nice message on PSN afterwards. It was great - I may share the video later.

I'd earlier lost a race by 0.076s when I was the one with the slipstream heading to the finish line.

Had some beauties, one particularly memorable one at Brands Hatch in Gr4 (before it became the megane class), I started 4th was super close with the top 3, and the guy behind me. 10 laps bumper to bumper, with not a single bit of contact. I eventually finished 3rd guy that was behind me got ahead after a mistake. I saved that replay and watch it to remind myself how good the game can be when racing against good opposition.

Another good one was at Suzuka in Gr3 just the other night, I started 11th made my way to 2nd through a combo of sweet overtakes and plonkers taking themselves out ahead of me. Had a dude not far behind for the whole race just to keep me on my toes. Was awesome fun.

I've had numerous very good races in Sport... the majority have been very good.

The most satisfying was beating a field of Meganes and Sciroccos at Suzuka last week in a Corvette at the Suzuka grp4 daily.

Took the lead beginning of lap 2 after pressurising the lead Megane in to running wide in turn 1/2, then held a 1s lead until the end of lap 5, where I missed my brake point by a fraction in to the chicane and ran wide by just enough to let 2nd and 3rd placed Sciroccos to catch up but not overtake me. We ended up 3 wide down the start straight and in to turn 1 on lap 6, but I managed to stay on the inside and hold on to the lead. Last 4 laps required absolutely perfect corner exits and some very strong defending in to turn 1 /2 to stop them blasting past me on the straight.

Won by 0.2s.

Had a grp3 race at Nurb last weekend where I got 2nd place by 0.02s, and have had a number of very close races with Sonic and Momo from the Boca crew.

GTS is the best on-line racing experience I've had. Very enjoyable.

I have had several good fun races. Yesterday I had 2 good ones.

Race 1: I started on the pole at Maggiore ( not sure how I did that). After 1st lap I had a nice lead. Decided I would just cruise. Around lap 3 or 4 a vette showed up. He pressured me for 2 laps and got by me at the tight right at bottom of the hill. I realized I was better than him at turn 3 and into 4. Lap 8 I passed him going into 4. He passed me back at the tight right. So, this time I waited until the last lap and got him in turn 4 again. I ran through the tight right perfect and won the race. That one was fun!

Race 2: I started 4th. Since I knew I could get good runs out of 3, I took a run on 3rd 1st lap. Passed him going into 4 and never saw him again. By the end of lap 1, I had the Z4 that started 5th on my tail. He followed me a few laps, gaining and losing. I knew he was better than me at the tight right. He got me around lap 4. I followed him to see where I could get him. I figured out I was much better in the right right ( 12/13? ). I made a run on the last lap and was on his bumper in the last turn. I couldn't get by him though. I made my run 1 lap too late. It was a fun race though.

Since getting to SR.A, and now Sr.S, over the last 2 evenings, all the racing has been spectacular.
But, I will never forget my first clean racing experience, and that was with Dr.B/Sr.B players. At the Dragon in Gr4 (before it became the Megane class).
I was in the 458, and for the entire race another 458 and Viper and I traded spots, got runs (all of this back fighting for 5th), tried to out brake etc. etc. The other 458 and I went side by side through the back S's several laps, Viper kept trying inside in the heavy braking zones... all clean as a whistle... and, all while catching cars ahead and getting by clean.
The Viper ended up placing 2nd (finally got me under braking, I did the over/under got a run down the front straight, but, just could not pull off the brake into the chicane)... the other 458 seemed to run out of tires on lap 8... I got 3rd and the other 458 got 4th. we started 5th(458) 6th(me) and 8th(Viper).
After that it became a mission to run clean. It has paid off.
