hi all just thought id post this as have been wondering this for a while

i am looking for a good sounding headphone/headset as my current one is starting to get worse as the wire has cam loose from the sealed control unit and sometimes both cups work sometimes only one of them.

im just looking for something good but not overpriced im not spending over £100 pounds as im buying christmas gifts etc and not wanting to spend too much on a headset.

things i would be looking for good bass not overly bassy just to give it a affect really and just decent sound so i can hear the cars in gt5 and listen to sum music when everyone else is in bed

any ideas folks 👍 💡

Ok dont all bully me, but im abit of a COD follower too so i ordered a set of these :sly: Game.co.uk linky

But less the COD branding they slightly over around £125 as AX 720. eBay Clicky

If your not desperate for something with Dolby surround in them then these? AX51 PRO - COD branded

Those are Trittons you posted.

I use the Turtle Beach X41's, and although the mic doesn't work on PS3, they are wireless, and they sound great.

Yeah my bad was looking on a few pages at once. The turtle beach's are also brilliant

Tritton's are very nice.

Logitech also has a new headset, the F-540 which is wireless AND has a rechargeable battery. I don't know the CAD to Pounds conversion, but they run about 160 CAD.

Astro also sells a few gaming headsets, and they make a quality product. Their Mixamp alone is  worthy

I was also thinking of a new headset.
Should i go with the f540 or the top of the line turtle beach?

Thanks for the reply folks i have looked at both the x41 and the siberia v2 and the x41 are out of my budget at the moment as i still have lots of christmas presents to buy people and the siberia v2 i read couple of reviews saying that the ps3 mic is perfect but the sound from the headphones work, and then sometimes they dont thanks for the help anyone else have anymore headsets in mind thanks.

There's the Logitech F-540
I will probably get the TB DPX21 unless the F-540 is better.
I really want to get one of these before i head back up to Alaska. (I'm currently in NY for a week).
Or, would it be a better idea to try and get these in Alaska?
(Saw these 2 things at Best Buy.)
Should i chance it or go for the sure thing?

EDIT:
Just for info
Sales tax here in NY is around 8% (This adds about $13 onto the $150 price tag)
Sales tax in Anchorage, AK is 0% (as long as it doesn't cost $163, i would be good)

PX21 is a terrific headset for the money. I own both the PX21 and the X41's, and the price increase in the X41's does not justify what upgrades you get.

F-540 is appealing to me because it's new and has a rechargeable battery (I go thru AAA batteries in my X41's a lot), but if this will be your first headset, the PX21's will live up to your expectations.

👍
I just picked up the px21 a few weeks ago and I am very happy with them. Only problem i had was hooking them up to my stereo a/v receiver. I went to radio shack and got the adapter that goes from the small headphone plug to the bigger plug on the receiver.

This is a good place to order headsets from, usually cheaper than a lot of other places.

The X31s or other mid-range Turtle Beaches are fairly good, but I would definitely buy the Trittons over them because because they sound better (and uglier ).

But if you're not going to be using the headset for talking to other people then I would just buy some ordinary Sennheisers at the price range. I have some HD555s from a few years ago worth £90 and have served me well.

I upgraded to some Astro A40s about 6 months ago because I wanted the full surround experience for COD, and they are amazing. Sound good in GT5 as well and movies. Much better than the X41s mainly because I suffered from wireless interference (crackles and pops which were VERY ANNOYING), and they feel better quality.

When this happens to mine I want to throw them out the window, and what's most frustrating is that there's no rhyme or reason to the interference, sometimes there's none and it's glorious, others it is a huge distraction and annoyance.

If Astros were easier to get in Canada I'd have a pair by now.

What happened for me was I bought them while I was staying at a friend's house for a week and there wasn't really any interference. But when I came home into a house of several wireless devices it was ridiculous how bad it was. Luckily I bought them from Game so I just said there is a fault with them and received a full refund.

The new wireless Mixamp only sold in the US so far apparently doesn't have this issue because it runs on a different frequency to routers, wireless dongles etc. But I have the wired one and it works a treat. :)

So this is really a warning to anyone who wants to buy wireless headsets - if you have lots of wireless devices in your house like wireless routers, if the headset is running on 2.4Ghz frequency you may come across popping or crackling issues.

This. If you want headphones (rather than a headset) for mixed use then you won't go far wrong with any of Sennheiser's range. They're far higher quality for music than the likes of Turtle Beach at similar prices while still being good for games.

For pure music they're not a patch on Grado, but much as I love my SR80s they're absolutely no use for gaming.

Was just gonna pipe in with my vote for Sennheiser. I have a set of PC161's(well I think they used to be called 165's) but they light, comfortable and have great sound(But then I have never had a set of Senn's that didn't sound great)

Moved to the correct forum.

Looking for a headset has nothing to do with GT5.

Hi all,

Just ordered myself a new headset its the logitech f540 it was £135 with assasins creed brotherhood chucked in for £5

Result :sly:

just wondering if any of you have these i read great reviews but would like to here from someone who has had them a period of time.

I am just wondering is the sound good and is the bass upto scratch.

cheers,

Yea it's pricey, but i picked one up a week ago too. I think the sound is amazing... I had another 50$ set of wireless headphones but they do not compare. I love the fact that I can control mic and game sounds separately, the headset is really confy too. I think you won't regret it =)

Did you seriously remake this thread after they merged it with the latest purchases thread? With this post here?
