So I'm trying to rid myself of Soda, (and my favorite Sobe Fruit Punch:() and at the same time try to drink more water. My problem is that I don't really care for water so it takes me all day just to get through one 16oz bottle. I refuse to drink tap water because it's gross. (In Phoenix at least):yuck:

Has anyone found anything that I could maybe add to the water to give it a little flavor, without making it taste like a diet drink? Gatorade is not a solution for me as my stomach starts to hurt if I drink too much in one day.

I had planned on going to the store soon and getting some of those powdered packets you mix with water, but don't want to spend the money and end up wasting them if they don't taste that great. Recommendations?

Ah, not a tea fan either. Although I do admit I haven't tried any of the fancy flavors so that may be a possibility.

Sparkling water(flavored carbonated water)?

It comes in a good amount of flavors and doesn't have many calories.

The problem with most of those flavored carbonated water is that they come with almost as much sugar as sodas.

Yeah I want to try and keep the sugar down too. Absolutely no Splenda. :yuck:

Edit: @ Solid: I'm going to look for those packets next time I go to the store.

Try just flavored water.
Keep a pitcher of water in the fridge.
Now to flavor it , you can add sliced citrus fruits , lemons , limes , or oranges .
You can also try cucumber slices or roughly chopped carrots and celery .
Many different fruits and vegetables can be used to flavor water , it depends on what you like of course.
Just let whatever you add sit in the water for a few hours and you are good to go .
This process is cheap , low calorie , and can be quite good to quench your thirst.

Sounds like you have a bit of a sweet tooth that you might want to curb away from as well.

Honestly, learning to appreciate regular water is probably something to do, rather than dodging the subject with, usually, sweetened flavoring agents. Because, honestly, anything that doesn't have a fake or real sweetener is going to taste a lot like regular water or just be a sharper, bitter taste.

And tea is awesome. At least for a hot beverage. Cold teas do require some sugars to curb their bitterness usually, though sun tea can have a nice flavor as long as it isn't over done. Hot tea isn't the best source of hydration as black and green teas have caffeine in them. Coffee is another low calorie drink as well, provided you don't murder it with creamers and sugar.

I used to be in the same boat as you, but I've grown to drink alot of water. (As long as it's very cold. Once it starts to warm up fuhgettaboudit.)

It's really easy for me since I have an office water cooler in my kitchen and my school's drinking fountains are very cold.

Tried peppermint?

Nah, not really a fan.

That's mainly what I'm trying to get away from, while keeping the calories down. Problem is I have a hard time drinking straight water, so here I am. I'll just try one thing at a time and see if anything stands out. (minus the coffee)

Lemon juice in tea? Don't think straight lemon juice would be that great. :p

Edit:

That's what I was thinking. Just wasn't sure if they tasted that great.

The lemonade is great. The rest, not so much. They have raspberry and Hawaiin Punch, neither is better than the lemonade. Lemonade comes in pink or yellow. There's no difference.

Problem with coffee? We may have to step outside... :sly:

That aside, I think this is one of those situations I just have trouble fully relating to. My dad never kept soda of any kind in the house so water, milk, and some juice was about all we had to drink 90% of the time. And the juice was limited anyhow, so we mostly just had water. Being active in high school probably helped with wanting to constantly have water anyhow - at the moment, if I have a water, I can go through 2 liters of water easily in a day if I keep the bottle around me.

Keeping the water cold can do wonders, as can different bottled brands if you feel the tap water is bad. Which easily can be the case as the treatment and chlorine levels are a bit higher in cities just because of the volume of water and how distribution works.

Have you tried AriZona green tea? Arizona has a great variety of flavors; pomegranate green tea is delicious as hell.

This one's my favorite though. I go through one of these jugs in maybe 3 or 4 days; it's replaced all the soda I used to buy. Tastes pretty good and those anti-oxidants make you piss like a horse. People say it "cleans" you.

I've just never been a coffee drinker. I've had maybe one or two cups in my life, and those were a long time ago. Edit: Although I do love the smell....

That's the last thing I need. :p

I'll be purchasing them in a much smaller quantity to try them out before I dive in to a big jug.

That's half of what I meant by crap. It isn't actually good for you, and it pretty much tastes horrible.

Personally for me I had to force myself from eating junk food. I just bring 2 slices of pizza(yes it is junky but it's only 320 calories per slice) and only enough change to buy milk at college. Though I'm thinking that you could pour some soda into a bottle of water. Then through the weeks put less and less into the water bottle until you can stand drinking water itself alone.

Maybe you could drink juice instead of soda since it does seem you have a sweet tooth. If you ever feel tired then splash some cold water into your eyes(tiredness is a side-effect of drinking less soda).

You'll get used to it and eventually love it.

I used to drink more than 1 liter of Coca Cola every day and I hated water. I couldn't stand the taste of it and I was often very close to puking.

I haven't had any soda for more than 20 months now and I love water. I also stopped drinking juice a couple of months after soda.

And it's obvious he never read the label. It has a lot of sugar in it, too. Not as much as soda, but enough to make it unhealthy.

Its better than Soda though. If just because they inject vitamins and crap into it. I actually have been drinking it a bit since I was having trouble keeping solids down being sick, as it helped keep electrolytes and such from getting to crazy out of balance.

But yeah, its certainly not a healthy option to water in most cases.

Arizona is great, you can get a big can(like 24 oz.) for $.99, Rasberry is the best in my opinion. They also have fruit juices.

Calories aren't the biggest problem when it comes to soda and other drinks, it's the amount of sugar that boosts those calories.
People are giving you great advice but it sounds like you're simply refusing to try, ie water and tea.
You'll like both if you just give them a chance. Try drinking green tea, real green tea, none of that bottled stuff.

As far as diet pop goes, if you can find diet Canada Dry, it's really good. Another good diet pop is diet Dr. Pepper.

I'm just about willing to try anything. As a matter of fact, in the morning when I make my stop on the way to work to get my normal Sobe Fruit Punch, I'm going to grab a Tea instead. 👍
