Google I/O 2015 and Android M

Interesting stuff in Android M. Sadly, I don't think that my phone will make it to Android M.

The real meat and potatoes of the update is Google Maps offline, Google Photos, Google Now, and Android Pay. (USB-C is cool, but I'm not upgrading to a new phone for a good while.)

This I/O keynote was somewhat boring to me. 2014's was more entertaining to a degree.

I'm glad I didn't drop money down for a student pass.

Google Now on Tap is a genius decision. Nice to look up something quickly and have the info presented to you without backing out whatever app you're in. And when you're done you just swipe it out

I'm hoping the Doze feature will actually bring better battery life. Lollipop maintains pretty good battery life, but Google's apps still have tons of wakelocks. Plus Lollipop is still kinda inconsistent in battery life. Google promises better battery life since Lollipop's preview, but it's still the same, or even worse.

Finally, they implemented the Do Not Disturb and Sound Dropdowns correctly this time!

And finally, they added in app permissions!

I'm liking how Google made their Photos app. I personally don't take a whole lot of photos but unlimited space and automated organizing are nice features
