I'm an Apple Safari user.

Didn't realise I had a big brother looking over my shoulder.

Though with the revenues they accrue, the fine is probably more of an embarrassment than anything else.
After the recent news that booking agents target Safari users for higher-costing hotel rooms, this is another cause for some concern . . . would you like to express some thoughts on this?

What was that? Don't know what I'm talking about? Google it. Just don't use Safari. ;)

LOL. I think the logic is and truth is only a Apple user would have Safari on there computer. And its a fact that the average Apple computer cost more than the comparative PC because of all the bells and whistles of an aluminum case, magnetic power cord etc. So they figure Apple users have more money. Hence wanting to target you guys for higher priced hotel rooms.

Googling something will have different results as time passes, so telling someone to "Google it" on a current topic is kind of poor form as time passes.

Just sayin'

Also, newspapers are hardly credible sources compared to any decent online publication.

Anyway, I use apple safari on my phone sometimes but I switched to chrome, could this be a marketing ploy by goooooooooooooooogle?
 
I know PC users that use Safari. I, personally, despite being a 'Mac Person' wouldn't touch Safari with a 20ft barge bar. I dislike it... a lot.
 
There was a short period after the release of Safari 4 but before the Mac release of Chrome that I liked Safari. It was a better product than the Mac version of Firefox at the time. Chome blew it away, though.

If hotel sites are charging based on what browser you're on, I should start booking my rooms through, like, IE6.

what's the difference between newspapers and online publications? Journalists are journalists no matter what media they use
 
Man. Whenever DoubleClick is involved, things are bad, period. Can't say how long I have been trying to wiggle my way out of it. Google Chrome doesn't help.
 
As a matter of fact, I'm currently running my third SpyBot S&D scan today, and already it's picked up DoubleClick...and I'm not using Safari.
 
This is not about browsers. Nor platforms. It's about search engines.

If Safari is being discriminated by Google then there is reverse discrimination about the targeting given to other browsers. This is about a search engine that looks over your shoulder and recommends what you look at.
Hence the deliberate irony in the OP about the source; what would Google like you to know about what Google does?

But let me look both side here, before i cross this busy highway.
I look to the right - I see a helpful search engine, selectively making my searches faster, narrowing it down to the five-star Hotels I am after. Or I could use another browser/platform and get my bandwidth filled with cut-rate Motels.
I look to the left - I hear screams of 'subliminal seduction' and 'invasion of privacy!'

That is the discussion.

This is not a current event - it's a continual event; Google has had privacy watchdogs barking at them for quite some time over oogling their visitors' googling.

Oh! yes. 'google' is an official verb now. You may use Yahoo to google.

And trust neither Woodward nor Bernstein. They're just reporters. ;)
 
Yes. That is where is currently stands. And the sad thing is, not many people realize this, but FastClick is a derivative of DoubleClick and FastClick is hell to get rid of because neither MSE nor MWB or even AdAware finds it. Google, at least in my opinion, overstepped its bounds ever since they started.
