First of all, hello to everyone.
I'm apparently an utter newbie when it comes to this game. Even though I had spent years with GT2 I didn't see the real point of GT5 at all, I played it like any other car game. I play from the 3rd person view with the driving line and with traction control. I bought cars which I tuned to the maximum and destroyed the opponents in most of the A-Spec races. I found it rather boring and dull. I play with a DS3, so that doesn't help either. I had no idea the oil change feature had a point.
Then I found this forum and by reading what people have written here, I realised this game can be approached from a completely different angle. I started buying new cars (incl. UCD & OCD), and the only things I did to them was getting some new rubber (SS) and an oil change. At this point I realised I might be on to something.
Come this morning. I did the new time and drift trials and bought some cars from the UCD, one of them being a white 1999 Subaru Impreza Coupe WRX TypeR STI Version IV (holy hell that's a long name). Which was when it struck me. I have wanted to practice The Green Hell for a while now, and this car seemed perfect for it. I opened the practice mode and chose the normal Nordschleife. I then turned off the driving line and the traction control, I also changed to the roof view.
Three hours later I find myself still doing that "one more lap", I had had a massive urge to pee for over 45 minutes and I was hungry as a kid from the dark continent. Yet still, one more lap, freaking ghost car is getting away from me! I hated this track before.
So, to conclude and not make this a blog post. Tell us how you really got into this game and are you still passionate about it?
