Did anyone watch the first race in the new GP Masters series yesterday? I managed to see the first half of the opening race at Kyalami, SA - complete with Murray Walker commentary! Once again, MW came out with a classis quote, and I quote "Nigel Mansell has won more Grand Prix than any other driver - except for Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost and the late Ayrton Senna" - pure gold Murray!
Great to see so many legendary names taking part, and such close racing, although oddly there didn't seem to be that much in the way of overtaking, except for Hans Stuck who started 9th (I think)..
The result:
Nigel Mansell 50m55.428s
Emerson Fittipaldi +00.408s
Riccardo Patrese +20.662s
Andrea de Cesaris +21.700s
Derek Warwick +21.853s
Hans-Joachim Stuck +23.201s
Christian Danner +24.188s
Eddie Cheever +32.205s
Jan Lammers +32.778s
Eliseo Salazar +43.419s
Patrick Tambay +m11.584s
Rene Arnoux +1m12.736s
Jacques Laffite +17 laps
Stefan Johansson +28 laps
