So here I am, I will keep updating this as I do each race to create a full write up from my perspective.. Kicking off in Bahrain.
I am driving the number 2 Renault R26 with 30% race distance on ace difficulty.
Round 1
Qualifying
After a promising practice session in the morning with both Renaults in the top 3, qualifying looked set to be exciting with a 3 way fight looming between myself, Alonso and MS. I got out on the circuit first and immediately set a good time. It stayed there for a while until Massa beat it, then Button. I went out again and the car hooked up perfectly, I had been struggling in the final turn but just scraped through quickly enough on my last run to take provisional pole position ahead of the race. Button alongside me in 2nd.
Race
Blisteringly hot temperatures and very dry wind were the order of the day. Sat alongside Jenson with Massa's Ferrari just behind me and Alonso alongside him, the pressure was on. The lights went out and Button reacted quicker, taking a slight advantage but my Renaults superior acceleration took the lead back before turn 1. Button outbroke me however and Massa followed him through narrowly missing my car, I tried to fight back in the next left right turns but I took too much kerb on the right and spun off the circuit, I managed to stop and get going but I was 22nd.
It was challenging but I started moving up places, along with Kimi Raikkonen who started last, by the halfway point we had battled eachother up to 15th and 16th. This became 13th and 14th when Villeneuve had a puncture and collided with Heidfeld at turn 7. It became a 3 way battle between myself, Kimi and RS, I squeezed past Kimi and started attacking RS it took a few laps to find his weak points but I did and in turn 4 I got alongside him and attempted to outbrake him, we touched wheels, my front left to his rear right but we were fine, I edged ahead coming out of the turn but he foolishly tried to come back at me and clipped my car, spinning him but not affecting my car much at all, I saw him in my mirrors as Raikkonen collided with him taking there wings off. I eventually caught Trulli in 12th and overtook him with ease, with 2 laps to go I was 5 seconds behind Button and 4.5 ahead of Trulli, but then I Spun at turn 10, losing a lot of time but only 2 positions to Scott Speed and Trulli. There I would stay despite closing Trulli down to finish 14th. Massa won with Alonso 2nd.
