When participating in a race where BOP and locked setups are involved, how is it that a car is able to be sooo much faster, in a straight line particularly, than all the other cars in a race?? I was under the impression that the system gave somewhat equal setups to all cars in the race. Is my assumption incorrect??

Or am I able to set my car up, prior to entering the race and that setup is locked, once I enter??

Thanks in advance for your input. I've been racing Project Cars for the last several years and have just started getting into GT Sport..

No, you're not allowed to setup your car prior to entering the race, well, in fact you can, but when entering a locked setup race, your cars setup will be reset to default and locked.
As to why the straight line performance of the opponents is so much better, that really depends on your car of choice and your opponents cars. Which car were you racing and what car was much faster in a straight line.
Also do you use a wheel and pedals or the DS4 controller?

If you are talking about AI cars offline there seems to be a boost setting on, especially when you get to 1st place the 2nd place car will magically have a nitro button.

No, these are online races. I was the race host and this one car was about 15 mph faster in a straight line than I was. 4 seconds faster over a 2:00 lap!!
Typically, I might be 1-1.5 seconds slower than some people but not 4 seconds.

I was running the 911 RSR and my opponent was running the Lexus RC F GT3

I'm using a G29 .

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not 100% sure, there are of course differences between the cars, but 15 MPH sounds a bit too much, unless his corner exit is significantly better than yours, in that case a diffenrence like that is possible .

It has been my experience that if you spend enough time with the different GR3 cars you will eventually be pretty equal in lap time even though a couple may seem faster or slower the first time you drive it.

15MPH is way too much but the Lexus is HANDS DOWN faster on the straights than the Porsche. At Interlagos, i was eating Porsche's on the main straight with the Aston, the RSR is the slowest in a straight line other than the Alfa for Group 3 IMHO, but if you can drive it well it will corner faster than anything but the Alfa.

Here you can see the gains i make on porsches .....

The Lexus is slightly faster, but not by that much. There's likely a reason for it. Did you switch off boost and set slipstream to real? Were you using the same tires? Was tyre wear and fuel consumption on? If fuel was on it's possible you switched to a lean mixture by accident.

If you're sure BOP and fixed setups were on and can't find another reason for the difference, the other driver was probably just that much quicker.

i mostly agree but if using TC I find the Porsche's is the worst of all GT3 cars. On 1 it allows a LOT fo slip and on 2 it bogs down like crazy, i can't exit with this car, add that it needs revs to get going and i find the Aston or Lexus will eat it's lunch on straights unless in the hands of someone that can generate fast exits with plenty of revs onboard.

Good point. If OP was using TC, CSA, or ASM it could be why the Lexus was so much faster.
