I saw this when I was looking at the 120 mins of thunder race info (iRacing)

http://granstand.com/

Now, I think this would be cool to have. I don't really have the time to build anything decent at the moment, and I was wondering if anyone had this?

I have an old Kirkey racing seat (I can't remember if it's a 10 degree or 20 degree layback) that I think would go great with the Wheelstand + seatbase setup.

My goal is to have something more stable than my $20 wood computer desk from Fredmeyer, because I one day dream of getting a DSD Pro Sequential

Any thoughts? I haven't ever seen anyone mention this before.

Looks too flimsy respect to asked price. To me even playseats look better. There is also much more good options nowadays but I have not followed market for awhile. Inside simracing has done multiple rig reviews and I would start by going to youtube and watch those.

Wheel stand + seat base looks like the best deal of those...My friend has an Obutto cockpit and the seat used for that is an ebay "racing bucket" that's about $100 and feels pretty good.

I did a little review of the seat base a while back, it has a link to the video review of the entire rig by ISR you may want to watch:

I only have the seat base, and it is very sturdy, I use it with a Fanatec Rennsport Wheel Stand.

In your case what you have to do is verify that the Kirkey seat will bolt on to the GranStand seat base.

Also, you can find the same Scat ProCar Sportsman Seat on Amazon that GranStand uses.

80/20 is modular so you can always add or substitute sections as you see fit in the future.

Be forewarned though, 80/20 is not cheap.

But I think GranStand's prices are very reasonable for what you get, now that I have built a few things using it like shifter mounts.

80/20 Shifter mounts pics: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/album.php?albumid=4137

For me it worked out to be a good way to get started with 80/20 stuff.

Roush_fan_99 feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I watched the ISR video, and it looks great, but it has a little wobble. My plan was to get a stable stand (that won't work it's way closer to the tv as I play ) because I really want the DSD pro sequential and it's got that 40 pound spring. I assume that I'd be able to stiffen the stand with more 80/20, but I'm not sure if Mr. Speare's shifter is too strong for such a light weight stand. Shaun Cole from ISR mounted the DSD Bent rod GT shifter to his wood base rig with extruded aluminum mounted directly to the base because it was shaking the rig anywhere else

Also I know I'm going to have to come up with some seat mounting mechanism of my own if I use my kirkey, I don't think the mount comes with the base

I also looked at the rSeat GT2 and it's on sale for $400 but I still think that's too much

What you could do is build a separate mount for the DSD shifter from 80/20 that you can bolt on to the GranStand seat base by just tightening two screws as I did with the Fanatec H-shifter. I went that route because the H-shifter movement is much more violent in nature than the Fanatec sequential, so I think it would also work for the DSD shifter.

I don't know what kind of mounting hardware you have on the Kirkey but the 80/20 catalog has tons of mounting options. You might take a picture of your Kirkey and send it to Bill the proprietor of GranStand to see if he has any suggestions.

I also considered the rSeat but did not personally care for the seat.

I think I'd probably do that, mount it to the base. I think I like it more now. I'm probably going to buy it some time before or after christmas, since I want to get a new wheel first
