I'm playing the GT2 A-Spec mod and absolutely loving every bit of it. Huge respect to everyone involved.

I was just wondering how difficult it would be to "elevate" some of the rally cars a bit more.

For example, there are several rally versions of the Toyota Celica that we only get to see if we race-mod the base car. But even after doing that, the car still shows its original value in the garage. It’s always bothered me that Polyphony went through the effort of adding these cars, but in such a low-key, almost hidden way.

It would be amazing to see those rally versions with their proper car values — and maybe even make them purchasable as special models from the dealerships.

Sorry if I'm sounding like I'm complaining too much — I really do appreciate all the work that's gone into this mod. It’s fantastic!

The game doesn't have enough space to split every racing modifications into their own standalone cars. They would have to remove a whole lot more cars in order to do so.

The game only has enough memory for a set number of car bodies and also values relating to the cars, things such as the default car parts, engine and tuning options etc.

When you have a race mod for a car, that is two car bodies, but the two bodies share a single set of values. As soon as you turn a race mod into it's own separate car, you are not only doubling the car bodies, but doubling the values as well.

Interesting! So if I understood correctly, the better approach would actually be the opposite of what I said — lol — increasing the RMs to squeeze in even more cars.

Do you think a possible workaround could be setting a different value for fully upgraded cars? (Not sure if that’s even feasible.)

I don't think so as you would still be creating those values for the game to read which would have to be separate to the road cars values.

One approach the A-Spec mod team have used in some cases is to give some race cars race mods. So for example, some of the GT500 cars that share specs have alternative versions available as a race mod.

If your interested in seeing how to squeeze what you can from the games memory the A-Spec mod is already doing a great job of working around those limitations, but it is a different focus to other mods like Spec II.

The selling price is tied to the buying price of the car, so as long as the body is only a RM, the price is completely fixed.
The way to go would indeed be to have as many RMs as possible, with as little standalone, if you really want to max out the cars. But there are limits everywhere: car bodies, car parts, amount of total car colors, car names... An untouched version of GT2 has space for about 13 unique new cars before reaching the various limits.
That's why A-spec has had to remove as many cars as they did in order to fit al the new stuff. Game's PACKED haha
