hey guys whats up

been a while since i posted anythin but this i gotta tell ya!

i was in frankfurt at the IAA '03 last friday and at the Nissan stand u had me surprised...as there were PS2s with a racing game there. they had put em up in front of a row of 5 350Zs i looked at it and couldnt believe it...the car was a gto the track was NYC and the looks well it was bascially gt concept only a lil more accurate with lines and edges. the resolution was also not gt concept level but still plenty good. there were about 30 to 40 cars from the nsx LM edition from concept to the wrx sti from GT3 to the Pontiac GTO and Stindray Corvette from uhhh....GT4!haha!
it was awesome im tellin ya the real news though are the physics...especially in the corvette in new york i felt reminded to that one article posted here...PD sayin its gonna feel not that much different at the beginning but the more u play the more u feel the real difference to previous games...i gotta agree with that and say that the one thing i have taken away from this experience and im not the only one...is that it finally is absolutely realistic. for instance the vette powerslides with nice sound out of a turn then after catchin it it performs a way more realistic counter break out in the other direction and keeps doin it until i caught it about 4 to 5 times and then just growls on...i LUVED it...and for it being 30% id say that was spectacular...even though the engine wasnt there yet the reflections, shadows and paint effects were about twice as good as in concept - i **** u not guys...i was pumped when i saw it, paralyzed when i played and now im just glad i got the chance!

ill see ya,

pete

ps: for questions mail me or message me or whatever u like best

I hope they don't change the physics too much. I like the way the cars handle in GT3.

Its a toss up Laser. If PD wants a super realistic driver or a game that everyone can play  Two modes would be well suited but having greater reward for the hardcore physics other than ASM,TCS and ABS for ever car by default. Gets tireing turning it off for every new car you get.

What do you mean by the engine wasn't there? Are you talking about the new graphics engine?

i meant the graphics engine yes...there was a kinda blurry layer pulled over thats what it looked like...like the amount and depth of the textures wasnt complete yet...

Oh,ok I got you now but ofcourse PD has more time to work with that because gt4 will be out nex year. How were the car models, were they as detailed as this model?

As good as the top one not the bottom cos thats a render.

Exactly, but I think cobra has a problem believing the bottom one is a render, he seems to think those quality pictures are the game

If you look at the background of the second pic you can see its a render, I mean the background is just a very basic texture and the car looks extremly detailed.

Why can they just have both a good driving simulator and a easy driver game?? just do on and off for the tsm and tcs?? and get rid of the sim tires?

I suppose one of those screens could be a render. But has Polyphony ever released rendered pics for other Gran Turismo games? Why are they starting now? Both those pics might be of the game.

There were quite a few renders for GT2 and 3.

most of GT2's promo shots were renders & a lot of GT3 ones were touched up.

Funny how the most impressive pics (at the time) are always the smallest. Can't find any of the big touched up pics I've seen before.

Touched up ones for GT4 (Probs the Merc & Subaru shots) will end up as wallpapers like GT3's did with the NSX's and Skyline.

As is GT2, goto GT2's website & notice how the screenshots look quite impressive, due to the fact there so sodding small. Also the 'wallpapers' were originally promoted as ingame. (hype?)

Those 2 pics are from a early gt3 demo you know? I have seen those shots before on gamespot with the dates. And those pics aren't impressive at all. PD didnt give us promo pics of gt3, maybe gt2 but not gt3.

most of the pics you guys are calling renders are high res shot takin from the PC the games are dev. on. If they were renderd pics the texture would look alot better than that. Look at gt2 on a PC emu at a high res. and it is like night and day.

I know there from an early version, and they were used as promo shots because I've got a magazine with them in & they did look impressive compared to GT2.

Hell I bet in the days of GT2 you said those shots looked real

What about all these GT4 shots which you say are all from an early GT4 version with the GTC engine and how amazing the 'real' GT4 will be...

Well everyone has said the new engine for the graphics hasn't been in a demo yet, but the new physics have been in some demos of gt4. And the new AI hasn't been in any demo. Don't forget about the animated crowds and pitcrews, that's all on the new engine I bet. But the latest gt4 demo car models look like the ones in GTC but a bit better in detail. Maybe the TGS(tokyo game show) will have the new engine in affect, never know.

just to react on the first post. I saw a Nissan ad today for a two day demo of the new 350Z in amsterdam.... it also mentioned 'games where the new 350Z stars in'..... could it be...... GT4?????

for the ones that want to know:

350Z on show
3-5 october, beurs van berlage, AMSTERDAM (from 10.00 till 18.00) - free entrance....

maybe it's worth a look???

They better improve the AI or this will be me playing GT4 :banghead:

How long have we had to wait for decent AI...

... i'd better go and check out thate demo-show then... would be great if they have a GT4 demo overthere (and nit juet the TGconcept game....the 350Z is in that game as well isn't it?)
