This just in!

Sony says that GT4 will be released October 2004. A bit behind schedule but they're working on adding in these features:

1) In order to play the game you must have a driver's license. I don't know how they're going to do it, but I think it's to avoid legal ramifications like Rockstar Games is getting from the acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series. I assume it has something to do with the killings obviously related to the Quake and Doom series as well.

2) They are removing the drift option from Arcade and working to make it impossible to drift cars in Gran Turismo 4. They didn't say why they're doing this, just that it is a matter of utmost importance. Maybe they don't like drifting anymore. I think Sony is anti-drifter.

3) Probably the easiest feature they're adding, which I believe is already complete, is a grammar and spelling checker built into the online chat function (which requires USB keyboard). Apparently online users are on a "three strikes and you're out" basis where after making three grammatical or spelling mistakes the user's online account is revoked.

AMAZING! I wonder what brought this all about.

1) doesn't bother me since I have a license
2) I don't mind the drift mode as long as they stick with the game's physics engine.
3) THAT is a must, the spellcheck will help to weed out sooo many idiots :D

that is so funny man! ..its a joke right?......right?!!?

More GT4 Delays!

Urgent re-coding work has begun on Sony's eagerly-awaited title Gran Turismo 4. The long-running saga of when the successor to the highly revered Gran Turismo 3 will actually be released took yet another twist today.

In addition to the earlier announcement regarding new requirement for driver's licenses and language skills, Polyphony Digital have had to delay release while they implement the following changes:

1. Removal of the McLaren F1 GTR from the PAL Release. Although unconfirmed rumours of the inclusion of the mighty F1 GTR abound, especially in light of its inclusion in the Japan-only Prologue edition, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe executives would not comment, saying that there's no way such a great car would be included in the PAL game. Our reporters were adamant that it was in there, upon which the unnamed source said "Sh**", and frantically started typing numbers into his unfashionably large mobile phone.

2. Two-Disc Edition Cancelled. Polyphony Digital spokesperson D.E. Tuganawa-Treola announced proudly that GT4's developers had found a neat way to keep the game on one disc, whilst increasing the number of cars and tracks featured. Treola-san said "Ah, yes. Everyone asks for more cars, but don't want to change discs. So, we've thrown out all the great cars (particularly from the European release), such as the 787B, GT-One, F1 GTR, and substituted them with a further 652 variants of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, including the FQ-300 and massively different FQ-330. Also, we found another 1,417 Skyline variants, each of them special in their own way. Of course, this saves loads of space on the disc because they're all the same car. But different. But the same. Anyway, this will give us 2,100 cars on the PAL release."

3. A.I. Downgrade. Sony have also taken a policy decision to downgrade the level of intelligence and driving skill of the AI cars. "This is because we thought it would be discriminatory if the computer cars were more intelligent, more literate, and better drivers than most of the 13 year-old fanboys you see hovering round the internet, and Fast & Furious screenings these days".

4. Rear View Mirror Upgrade. Expected to take less time to code though is the almost total deletion of moving images from the rear-view mirror. These will be substituted for odd looking metal cylinders with the letters "NOS" on them.

Sony and PD have said that this will "inevitably delay" the release of this game.

I liked the ones you posted in particular GilesGuthrie. I can't believe there were actually some people crapping themselves that they wouldn't be able to drift then.

on #2 you forgot to include them deleting the two secret Ferraris to include 500 variants of the civics for the Fast & Furious gang, which is also rumored to include SR20DET engines :D

#3 I have no words to describe how much I am cracking up about

um. . . I plead the fifth because I don't want to use the first on this one

  Giles, you ought to contribute something to Sniff Petrol, with writing like that. Nicely done

Rats!!! After carefull reading only did I realize this was a joke.... :( and I had already plans to use up the rubbers faster to keep on drifting :irked:

List of solutions:
1 - Park car nose to a wall, hit accelerator until tires glow red.
2 - Pour gasoline on tires and light a match.
3 - ........... ohhh ...... why bother!!! :banghead:

ahha so funny. I want some more.

AWW HORSE****!! if they take out drifting of gt4 someone in sony is gonna get pimpslapped >_<

gamespcer said PD ran into bandwidth problems in multiplayer mode. the textures were just too much too handle.
they remade the textures to simpler styles, playing gt4 will now be like the movie "TRON" with neo-futuristic lines and black space.

HAHA, this reminds me of theonion.com

Great "articles"

This just in from PD headquarters:

"In order to save even more space than already suggested, we're converting the US cars into bicycles with Naaaaawwwwwwwwwwwzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz tanks and 24" spinning rims. Also expect the reflectors to be diamonds for the maximum bling-bling factor. :p "
