Introduction:
The idea behind this came around whilst I was a episode of TopGear, the idea was simple. Find a good track which tests most elements of a car on GT5P which was also fairly short and enjoyable to drive around and then start to test cars going around it. However, the idea progressed from that, I thought well why should I keep this idea to myself? I'll put it on GTP and make it similar to a competition but for you tuners. Now the idea is not for you to go and drive your own cars around the track, the idea is for you to send or request me to drive your tuned versions of the cars.

As you may have guessed I want this to be fairly similar to TopGear's board in the way that everything is a fair for each run. Here are the conditions:

  • Each car runs 2 laps of Suzuka East and the best lap time is taken.
  • All cars must run on S2 tyres
  • TCS will be set to 2
  • Driving will be done using Professional Mode Physics
  • Driving is done using a sixaxis controller
  • All driving is done by me, no un-fairness by using better drivers.
Due to popular demand, the track has changed from Eiger Norwand to Suzuka East, hopefully this will mean that this thread attracts more attention and means we can finally start with the competitive times.

Usually for this thread I will be putting up reviews of your versions of the cars to compare them to the original cars and possibly even videos showing the lap when I get round to it. But for the first few cars on the list they are to set a benchmark, a idea of how fast I drive and show you what cars have already gone around the track.

The Board

Nissan GTR '07 0'58.178

So I'm going to start browsing your tuned car threads and driving them to see how fast they go. I'll notify you in the form of either a post in your thread or PM. Also if you want to have a specific car of yours tested, tell me! I'll happily test it! I want to make this fairly competitive between your tuning companies so a bit of "Well he has gone faster than me, so I'm going to tune a faster one and then submit it" would be great!

One last thing, no accusing the driver of being slow or any other comments. I know I'm not the best driver in the world, but by have a one driver it means all the lap time are fair.

Also forgot to add, I will not be testing the F2007 Ferrari Formula 1 car, it would sit at the top of the board which makes it less exciting for me and the tuners.

Anyway good luck!

Excellent idea! 👍 Note that most tuners have cars tuned to specific tracks, mostly Suzuka. Running them on Eiger would most likely require different settings.

Thanks, it's not something I had thought of but if this idea is popular enough then perhaps more boards could be created for each track. 👍

Great idea..... but the words "Eiger" and "Good Track" do not belong in the same sentence.......

:) I have to agree with you. 👍

Okay, so what would be the best track to suit most of the tuners? I'm willing to change the track if it helps, someone said something earlier about Suzuka?

Suzuka or Daytona Road..... they have a good mix of quick sections together with some crucial corners that reward the brave.

If you are looking for a short track to test the mettle Suzuka East is also a good one....

I don't mind which ever track I have to use but I'd probably have to learn it before submitting times. I like the sound of either Daytona Road or Suzuka East. I'm not too keen on doing the full Suzuka Circuit though, as in my own opinion I find it quite dull.

Suzuka East sounds like the best track to me. It will also require less work for the tuners since they already have most cars tuned to Suzuka.

Yeah I agree, I'll probably work around it.

Neat idea. The only thing I'm not feeling is the track you selected... I think others can agree that everyone is somewhat bored of Eiger as it was the only track in the HD demo to which we've played countless times.

good luck with your idea to do this:tup:

Yeah, I'm in the process of changing it to Suzuka East now. I've only tested two cars around it so far but the whole Power Laps should be sorted soon and then become open for people to submit their cars for testing. :)

Right, I'm ready to start taking times onboard as you can see the board has been reset and is currently only including the lap time of a Nissan GTR which I took around this morning. Start submitting guys!

Why would you set the car to TCS 2? No car on GT5p needs TCS!

I just ran week 7 WRS at Suzuka East, and found TC was only good for keeping the car consistant.........consistantly slower than no TC!!

Nice idea here. Will you be testing every car?

I might start my own as I own all the cars... I won't make a new thread, I'll just Photoshop a leader board and upload then post it to my profile.

I'll be using:
-Sixaxis controller
-Professional Physics
-No TCS
-S2 Tyres
-Eiger Nordwand track (I think this gives it more of a challenge in some cars, with the tight hairpins, and such)

If anyone wants to be kept updated on my progress, please PM me with the title 'GT5P lap times'.
