Gran Turismo 5 release "THIS YEAR" says Sony's E3 Press Release

Direct from Sony's E3 press release:

"PlayStation's software lineup THIS YEAR is unparalleled with proven franchises like Gran Turismo 5, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves, and God of War III, as well as highly anticipated games like MAG and ModNation Racers," said Peter Dille, Senior Vice President of Marketing and PlayStation Network, SCEA.

I'm guessing this fiscal year, as God of War 3 is out March 2010...the last month of their fiscal year.
 
Nice catch deep_sky, and thanks for the info. I've been f5'ing the forums hoping someone would have some news regarding the release date.

My vote goes towards the FISCAL year, since Sony would be trying to appeal to investors in this setting (press release around E3). However, that would still include December. At least we have a vague idea of the time now.

Not sure. It would seem smart of them to launch the game in-between Drake 2 and GoWIII, but knowing how they loooove to delay these games, I could see it coming in a bit closer to GoWIII by fiscal year's end.

Dunno. I'm not holding my breath. It definitely won't be the Holiday '09 season, that's for sure.

E3 2010? I don't know about that...Dec 2010 release makes sense even though KY did say 09', this year, a while back.

do you think will sell more PS3? Christmas time or the end there fiscal year.

Think he's talking about "our lineup for this year's E3".

Even though it may be released in the following twelve months, I doubt he meant to say or imply a release date with that line.

If it was a 2009 release im pretty sure they would have done more than just a video for GT5 at E3.

Yeah the people were also asked to not ask him about GT5, this is really disappointing but there is no way we will get gt5 this year otherwise we would had much more infos and gameplay on this E3.

They will sell PS3s at Christmas no matter what. I'm sure sales of PS3s in March aren't anything close to those in December. Releasing these games in March might be done to boost sales, of both PS3s and the games, before their year end and carry over to the beginning of their new fiscal year. Just thinking out loud though. Either way, can't wait for GT5 and GOW3!!!

Yeah I agree, I dont think its release dates... 2009 E3 line up...
 
I think that statement means the lineup of games shown in this year E3... not the games to be released this year.

has this year on the sign. If that is from the game then it suggests a 2009 target release.
 
We don't know anything for a fact... so lets just end this thread because its nothing but possibly falsified speculation.. how about we find out when sony decides we should know... which if i were to guess, it would be prolly after the release of gt psp... and before GOW release in March... just makes sense... no way they would surprise at E3 for us just to wait another year and a half
 
The thing we all need to keep in mind is the fact that no one outside PD knows for sure how far along the development process is. For all we know they could be right on track for a December '09 release.

No, I think only Ms would play such a word game. I think SONY is really going to work at having all those games out by March 2010, and as many for the holidays as possible. I noticed the Rally 2009 sign as well. It seems that SONY is yanking us around a bit, but are making a serious effort to blow Christmas wide open for the PS3.

By the way, I'm really juiced up for ModNation Racers, as much as I am for Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted. That game will be a blast!

Hmm yea that's really good, but if you check the flags, or w.e. it is on the side of the road, in Eiger, it also says "Rally Eiger 2006" and GT5 is still not in our hands.
However that 2006 can actually mean, when we got Eiger, which was back in GTHD in Dec '06, if I'm correct.
 
After our little vid and a few screenshots, do you guys think it will now be silence for months on end like much of what we are already use too?
