I suppose it's frustrating because Gran Turismo 5 is a great game, featuring much detail and an overall pleasurable experience. However, I feel the game serves better as a "foundation" for future games rather than an end-product.

Should PD spend the time PSN is down to work on Gran Turismo 5?

I'm pretty sure whatever work PD is doing right now in their offices, is concerning GT5 regardless of whether or not, PSN is up.

I wonder if it is easier to work on the game and deliver updates when PSN is down?

What if PD has been steamrolling out features and content since there is less traffic online? It sounds unlikely.

1st comment, all said, nothing to add

They don't need the network to add content at this very moment.

If there does happen to be any content that's finished right now, but can't be released due to downtime, then they are more than likely working on other projects that will be implemented down the road.

There is a lot of work that can be done without the need for PSN.

McLaren's post says it all. PD doesn't need PSN to be able to work on GT5. PSN being up or down would make no difference to their working lives.

And, as freedomweasel pointed out, Shift 2 got an update while the PSN was down so game updates can obviously still be sent out as and when they become available.

Locked.
