We haven't gotten much info, but heres some spectulation from the news section:
XL will – most likely – be the North American version of the Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2.0 disc update recently announced for Japan, which includes all of GT5‘s software updates and DLC out-of-the-box. As you may recall, Sony Europe has already downplayed the chance of Spec 2.0 discs for the Old World.

I don't know about you guys, but I thnk it might be a little bigger than just a Spec 2 Disc. What do you think it will be?
 
If it is at least GT5 spec II + current DLC for $40,
I feel that anyone who purchased original GT5 for $60plus + any DLC purchased $2-$12
should get the chromeline or stealth cars.
It would be PD's way of saying
"thanks, sorry were now offering what you bought for much more for less"

I wonder if GT5 XL will get any stealth or CL's??
 
It would be like "Forza motorsport ultimate collection",do u remember it?that MS commercial decision had raised a lot of controvers by FMS fans base!
 
If they(pd) do include the stealth and/or chromelines that would be a big middle finger to all those who paid 100$ plus for the collectors edition.
 
The update will not include chromeline cars. People really need to give it a rest saying that PD is going to bring them back.

Forza UC had a lot of DLC though. I think it had all but 2 or 3 of the last car packs released for Forza 3. It caused controversy because the people who bought the DLC's as they came out felt ripped off. Actually yeah, looking at my Forza UC box, there were 10 DLC packs included, which featured over 100 new cars and then an exclusive Top Gear car pack only for people who bought Forza UC.

GT has only had about £15/$20 worth of DLC so far, if that. I don't think we'll see a repeat of the controversy seen from the Forza fans.
 
I think the controversy was that the ultimate collection got exclusive cars that were never made available to Forza 3 owners rather than the money spent.

If the DLC is on the disc, that's fine. "Game of the Year" Editions and rereleases often get all the DLC.

Exclusive content to just the new game? That is nonsense.
 
Getting this one, definitely. Updating is not a choice for me since I'm stuck with GT5 v1.00 when my old PS3 died. And I only have 1.5mbps of internet speed, so it would take me like 30 hours to download everything... something that I'm NOT doing.
 
Getting this for sure, Have the Platinum and Normal copies, trying to get as many variants as possible to add to the GT collection. 👍

You and me both sir! If my wife can go buy a pair of shoes because they are "cute" and never wear them, then I can go buy XL and never take it out of the package!

Always a danger, luckily all the GOTY re-releases seem to be compatible with the old save.... regions are another issue, but as long as it's the same region, it should be OK.

However, being PD, who knows what craziness awaits.

On a more serious note, it's good to hear that this might be going ahead. Hopefully some time next year this Spec 2.0 disc will be available to all of us GT'ers who don't have a decent internet connection 👍

Doesn't that happen with everything??? Don't know about you but my 80GB PS3 with the MGS Bundle pack was just under 500 bucks. Now you can get a 320GB with a game bundle for half that. Games are no different.

Us who bought the first ever GT5 edition and DLCs should get every "sides" included in the Spec 2.00 or XL editions for free. This is an exciting news indeed and I think this is the reason why GT5 still rocks in sales numbers. The overhyped Forza 4 on the other hand...

Hadn't noticed that, theres some serious subliminal stuff going on . . .

Since its only for the US I still think its going to be some of the stealths given to other countries that weren't available to the US
 
If my game save transfers and it has cars/stuff I don't/can't get otherwise, I will buy it.

It could be used it as a backup disk in case the original got scratched or encountered a problem of some kind. $40 "insurance" for a game I will play as long as they support it and until PS4/GT6 comes out...not bad.
 
I just bought the signature edition for my christmas present for myself :D

I have my backup copy now, so I think I won't be buying this.
