And something else, a story with a pic.
I worked on a calendar. A Gran Turismo calendar. Instead of regular "red days" I marked the dates which the brands of GT7 were established. Each month had a cover pic of a car established that month. I wanted to make it into a community thing, a photo comp where you guys would post pictures of the months car, and the winner would have their pic as that month's cover pic. I even added some information on the bottom of the calendar, a la the cafe/dealership/garage presentation.
Even Jordan liked the calendar (I showed it to him). But then he reminded me of something very important. Copyright. Legally, I can't sell it because Sony would own the pictures we take. I thought maybe I could get by under the "fair use" clause. I wouldn't even earn money on making it, I'd only charge the production- and shipping costs. If any profit were made by accident, I had a plan. Donate it to charitable causes.
I started searching for a contact person at Sony that could help me, with either a license (would probably make the calendar too expensive) or agree to let me use it under fair use. The first few people I emailed wouldn't reply. But then, someone did. Sadly, they couldn't permit me to sell this calendar. It's sad, I thought a GT calendar could be cool. It could even sold here on GTPlanet, by the webshop here. A good way to earn money towards running the site, for example.
Ok, enough talk. I wish I could go more in-depth, and I'll gladly share a sample month so you can see "what could have been".
Why am I showing this instead, though? Because I had to email Greening Auto Company as well, because their founding date couldn't be found anywhere. Jesse Greening responded positively, and even said he wanted to buy a calendar once it's done. Now you can see how sad I am, to not be able to go on with my idea. I even secured a discount at a local large scale printing company. I think I'll still get ONE made though, for myself.
