It's actually been showing up off and on under the CNN Money banner for a couple of months now and it's back again. No real "news" here but I thought it was kind of neat. CNN.com is a pretty popular and mainstream news site:
Bugatti shows real-life videogame car

Bugatti, maker of 1,200 horsepower supercars with seven-figure price tags, unveiled a fantasy videogame car at the Frankfurt Motor Show. But this one wasn't just made of pixels. Bugatti engineers created a real, drivable version.

The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is a model of the car that appears in the popular Gran Turismo videogame series. The real-life version is fully drivable but wasn't designed to comply with government safety regulations -- only racing regulations.

This concept car is particularly important because it offers a glimpse of what Bugatti's next model will look like. As part of the Volkswagen Group, Bugatti is related to luxury automakers like Lamborghini and Bentley, but is even more exclusive. Over the last decade, Bugatti has sold 450 cars worldwide at prices in excess of $1 million each. All of them were versions of one model, the Bugatti Veyron.

Powered by a turbocharged 16-cylinder engine, the Bugatti Veyron evolved over the years, gaining speed and power. Later models have 1,200 horsepower and top speeds in excess of 250 miles an hour. But now Bugatti is working on an all-new successor.

"Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is the first stage on a new journey that Bugatti is embarking on following the successful completion of its Veyron chapter," Wolfgang Dürheimer, head of Bugatti, said in a statement.

Dürheimer added that the new model will be unveiled "in the not too distant future."

Designers for the concept car drew inspiration from Bugatti racing cars of the 1920s and '30s. Based in France at the time, Bugatti won at LeMans in 1937 and '39. The Vision Gran Turismo was designed to excel on the LeMans track, which features long, straight sections -- putting a premium on top speed.

In this car, emphasis was placed on performance rather than comfort. Despite its extreme performance figures, the Veyron is comfortable and easy to drive on public roads. This car was created for the track, according to Bugatti.

A number of automakers, including Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, General Motors and Lexus, have designed cars for the Gran Turismo game.

Maybe, but it's among the most gorgeous VGT in my opinion. Nevermind the fact that they created a real life counterpart, i'd really like to see how it would go on the La Sarthe
I agree although it's personal opinion of course. I was more interested in the fact that this keeps popping up on CNN Money from time to time the last couple of months. It's a part of Kaz's plan to crossover from gaming to real cars to racing and I hope they can squeeze another VGT or two in there before GTSport launches. The more exposure the better.

Ah i got it, maybe it's something inherent to investors of car brands. It's just a healthy reminder of how subtle the marketing game could be, every VGT delivers the brands' spirit in form of a render: might it be sporty, hi tech or just plain power. I too agree by the way, gran turismo stickers on racing cars is not enough anymore. Let's see what happens next

It's almost like the colors were purposely taken from the general GT6 color scheme. Looks good. Can't wait for this car to be released (and I'm going to bet it'll appear in GT6).

No, it's Bleu de France. They've always used that shade of blue on their race cars, and so have other French manufacturers.

The fact GT6 is also a (different) shade of blue is merely a coincidence.

Not to mention that the base shape is mostly identical to the upcoming Chiron.

*Sigh* Same old PD showing off how amazing their game is to people who have no idea what they're looking at. Meanwhile, those of us who have been riding with PD since the original know that all this VGT garbage has done little to nothing to enhance the actual game play within the game. CNN might as well have written an article about how amazing it is that PD modelled the damn moon.

Don't see CNN mentioning anything about content that took nearly 2 years to arive, missing features like shuffle racing, crap online stability, etc. What am I saying, GT is amazing....just look at how shiny that Hotwheels on 24s (sorry, Bughatti VGT) is!!

I like the look of it. It definitely fits the VGT marque and is as good an example for them as any other.

The article is bound to raise an eyebrow or two for those who don't know much about GT anyway. Good publicity and maybe a few more sales and interest in future games.
