I want to be excited but the announcement seems quite vague as to the extent of the partnership, with the elephant in the room being an official Dunlop tire model in GT7. I guess I'll temper my expectations 😑

Hopefully the tire visual model changes like it did with Michelin. The realism of having real tires on the cars was incredible. It also brought needed physical model improvements so I’d imagine Dunlop would use some of their data as well. That said, Dunlop is not necessarily a pioneer in road tire technology these days.

Is PD going to do a sponsor rotation of all the tire manufacturers?

Next is Pirelli
Bridgestone
Goodyear
Continental

Why not offer them all at the same time and let us test out of there are any real differences...

What is the use of it ?

Are the tires models going to change from Michelin?

Why not use Sumitomo ??

Possible tyre wear will be different....
I can't see this happening.
The current tyre physics are based on PD's tyre model and not on any one type of tyre.
As far as I remember there was no change to the tyre wear when they switched to Michelin branded tyres and there definitely wasn't one when it was removed.

There was a physics change and tire modeling change when they announced the partnership with Michelin. It was update v1.49.
This is correct, but when the partnership and branding was removed there was no change to tyre handling/wear.

Because it wasn’t Michelin’s physics. They just help PoDi for their own tyres physics. The same thing will probably happen here.

I think the tyre model is ok as it is right now. We don't really need changes there, do we?
I just hope for the visuals!
In my opinion, massively yes, but it depends what you want from the game.
There's a lot of artificial behaviour in the tyre model at the minute in how it resists input and resists the tyre model.
To me it makes for a very tedious and samey driving feel, because every car characteristic is dominated by what the tyre model isn't letting the car do. It's where all the "real understeer simulator" terms come from.

Previous tyre iterations haven't been bad in that regard. The Michelin branding came with a physics update that had the best tyre feel the game has ever had - super natural behaviour. Just a shame the suspension changes were so busted alongside it.

That was all removed alongside the branding, which in my eyes was a severe regression and I haven't really played since because it just feels bad in comparison.

Have the tyres changed when they removed the Michelin branding? I srsly can't remember.
My take is that I'm ok with the current tyre model. It's not perfect ofc but it's ok. And tbh I wanna see some constancy in the game now, I think we had enough changes for physics and tyres, I would prefer no more changes in this regard.
But for sure I want the visuals 'cause the Michelins looked so much better than the unbranded standard tires we have right now.

Yea in the January update they changed the physics to what they are now. Michelin branding/physics only lasted 6 months.

I don't play anymore as I think the current physics are really bad with how the tyre behaves - so I'd like them to change, but I mean if they don't then I'll just continue to not play so you know, whatever really.

It'll mean that I'll never buy Dunlops in real life though because clearly if they represent GT7 tyres then all I'll know about Dunlops is that if I buy them I'll understeer off a roundabout and die.
