This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

I can't see this happening.Possible tyre wear will be different....
I hope so too. Not sure why this never was implemented for all GT 4 carsDoes this mean we finally get tire stickers for the Gr4 cars? Which we should have had a while ago.
There was a physics change and tire modeling change when they announced the partnership with Michelin. It was update v1.49.As far as I remember there was no change to the tyre wear when they switched to Michelin branded tyres….
This is correct, but when the partnership and branding was removed there was no change to tyre handling/wear.There was a physics change and tire modeling change when they announced the partnership with Michelin. It was update v1.49.
Because it wasn’t Michelin’s physics. They just help PoDi for their own tyres physics. The same thing will probably happen here. This is correct, but when the partnership and branding was removed there was no change to tyre handling/wear.
Yeah there was? They did a huge physics update at the start of the year when the partnership officially ended, that a lot of people see as a regression in detail compared to the Michelin tyres. This is correct, but when the partnership and branding was removed there was no change to tyre handling/wear.
In my opinion, massively yes, but it depends what you want from the game.I think the tyre model is ok as it is right now. We don't really need changes there, do we?
I just hope for the visuals!
Have the tyres changed when they removed the Michelin branding? I srsly can't remember. In my opinion, massively yes, but it depends what you want from the game.
There's a lot of artificial behaviour in the tyre model at the minute in how it resists input and resists the tyre model.
To me it makes for a very tedious and samey driving feel, because every car characteristic is dominated by what the tyre model isn't letting the car do. It's where all the "real understeer simulator" terms come from.
Previous tyre iterations haven't been bad in that regard. The Michelin branding came with a physics update that had the best tyre feel the game has ever had - super natural behaviour. Just a shame the suspension changes were so busted alongside it.
That was all removed alongside the branding, which in my eyes was a severe regression and I haven't really played since because it just feels bad in comparison.
Yea in the January update they changed the physics to what they are now. Michelin branding/physics only lasted 6 months.Have the tyres changed when they removed the Michelin branding? I srsly can't remember.
My take is that I'm ok with the current tyre model. It's not perfect ofc but it's ok. And tbh I wanna see some constancy in the game now, I think we had enough changes for physics and tyres, I would prefer no more changes in this regard.
But for sure I want the visuals 'cause the Michelins looked so much better than the unbranded standard tires we have right now.
Maybe GT7 had Michelin tech from the beginning. The current tyre physics are based on PD's tyre model and not on any one type of tyre.
As far as I remember there was no change to the tyre wear when they switched to Michelin branded tyres and there definitely wasn't one when it was removed.
I love it as well however it clashes with liveries that have other tire brands. At least with the unlicensed tires you can imagine it's said tire brand. It wouldn't even be that hard to allow us to swap between the branded and unbranded ones as well just have it be in the livery editor like how some race cars have it. That basically my only gripe with it. One day we can hope they allow us to put branding on road car tires.Hopefully the tire visual model changes like it did with Michelin. The realism of having real tires on the cars was incredible. It also brought needed physical model improvements so I’d imagine Dunlop would use some of their data as well. That said, Dunlop is not necessarily a pioneer in road tire technology these days.
signatureI happened to hate the v1.49 physics. There was no grip at all compared to previous generations. The physics changed again after Michelin left and it got a lot better, IMO. Then PD thought all the players with a T300RS wheel needed their FFB reduced to nothing and all steering feel was lost. They seemed to have corrected that issue and the game feels fine again.
If PD changes the physics again, I may quit the game all together. As it is, I only play maybe once a month. PD has made the game unenjoyable with all the physics changes they make for absolutely no reason. It screws up the suspension settings in your cars, it screws up the PP ratings on your cars. You have to retune all your cars and learn a completely new driving style. I couldn’t imagine any other game developer changing the running/jumping characteristics of your character and thinking that was completely fine to do. Or how about they change how your weapons work, or what about your enemies. Just change those for the sake of changing them? Sure, why not. Nerf this, boost that, make this completely useless and force the players to completely rehash their playing style. That should give the game more life. Maybe change everything again in 6 months because that will buy time until we can put out another game or major update.
I'm annoyed by PD's lack of transparency about anything but I'm well used to that by now.Maybe GT7 had Michelin tech from the beginning.
Am I the only one who finds PD's lack of transparency when it comes to the in-game physics-based tire model, annoying? Maybe I'm asking too much of them but considering they're doing these partnerships, I expect more than just stickers.
Im with you, I like the model we have after 1.49 updateI think the tyre model is ok as it is right now. We don't really need changes there, do we?
I just hope for the visuals!
After 1.49 the improvement we had in wet tyres is massive for me (positively speaking)In my opinion, massively yes, but it depends what you want from the game.
