*Any similarities to another series is purely coincidental.
Well, we've reached the end of series 1, and I would like to say think you to everyone who joined us the season! Had a great time running it and hope to do more in the future!
The Gran Turismo Race Mod Challenge Series will challenge drivers in a variety of cars and courses. 10 races, 10 different circuits, and 9 different race modified cars from the Gran Turismo universe! Racing will begin on December 13, 2012.
Cars
Each round will use a different car; and will have unique horsepower and weight restrictions that you must meet before racing. In terms of power, all cars should be maxed out (full race mods, stage 3 engine upgrades, stage 3 turbos, etc.) All cars will also have to meet a minimum weight. All other settings, such as downforce, suspension, and gear ratio settings, are free for drivers to change to their liking. Full info on the next race in the series will be at the bottom of this post.
Car Customization
Don't just show up with a white car with a number 1 on it. Feel free to make your car stand out! You do not have to use the same number and color for all your cars (unless you really want to). Duplicate colors are okay, but please try not to have the same number as someone else.
Race Times
*Changes Now in Effect*
Racing will be held on Thursday nights starting December 13th. Room will open at around 11:00 pm for practice/qualifying. A 30 min. timer will begin at 11:15 pm. Race will begin at 11:45 pm. All times are Eastern Standard Time (USA).
Race Format
Races will be about an hour in length. The grid will be set by the practice/qualifying session, fastest to slowest. One pit stop is mandatory, but you can take as many as you need. Pitting to fix damage counts as your pit stop requirement for that race. For instance, if you get damage on lap 1 and come into the pits immediately to fix it, you are not required to pit again. For all rounds of the championship, the medium and hard racing tires will always be an option. Soft racing tires will only become an option on certain tracks (street circuits and slower circuits.) You do not have to use all compounds available, you can run an entire race on mediums if you like. But the harder options will be available for different strategies. All four tires must be same compound. Failure to pit or mixing tire compounds will result in a disqualification and no points will be awarded.
Races will be in a private lounge with the exception of the preseason round. This round will be in an open lobby.
Schedule
Points Structure
1st - 10 pts
2nd - 9 pts
3rd - 8 pts
4th - 7 pts
5th - 6pts
6th - 5pts
7th - 4pts
8th - 3pts
9th - 2pts
10th - 1pt
11th through 16th - 0pts
Can't make all of the races? Don't have Spa? Not a problem! Points will be your best 6 out of the first 9 races, plus the final race. By all means, come to as many races as you can! But if you miss one or two races, or get disconnected from a race, it won't count against you.
Drivers must be on course at the end of the race to receive points. When the winner crosses the line, you will have the full 180 seconds to finish the race. If you do not finish in that time, but you are still driving on course, you will still receive points. If you leave the race for any reason (disconnection, rage quit, etc.) it will be considered a DNF, and you will not receive points.
Racing Etiquette
A good guide line is the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules. To be direct, race smart and race clean. All drivers will be expected to keep two wheels on the track at all times. This certainly includes overtaking. But hey, we're all racers. We know that accidents can happen, even to the best racers. If you feel like you cut the track to make a pass, or rammed into someone to gain a position, you will be expected to give the position back. If you feel there was an incident that should be reviewed, let me know through a private massage with the lap number (and if you can provide the corner, that would also help.) Penalties decided after the race will result in points deductions, somewhere between 3 and 5 points.
On Track Penalties
Certain tracks may have penalties on. In these cases, if you do go off track and a penalty does not go off (which can happen), then it is a legal move. If it is for a position, these situations can always be reviewed.
Lapped drivers, or drivers about to lose a lap to the leader are expected to give way to lead drivers in the safest way possible. It is also the responsibility of the lead driver to complete the pass in the safest way possible. Penalties will not be turned on, so lapped drivers will not "ghost."
