Hi guys,

there area few excellent videos hosted on this site and links to others hosted on other servers.

i am thinking about putting all my video files online for you folks to watch...about 700Mb in total from all WRC series and CMR3-4 and GT Concept-GT3....people from any country can watch full length, hi res mpgs of GT Concept racing and other PAL games...

Question1.
is there a copyright issue here with putting this content online? these videos are all made by me using all my own equupment and original software and games purchased by me...


Question2.
if i were to add a sound track to the movies from my fave songs, will there be a copyright issue here? they are from CDs that i own.

your help and advice is appreciated.

seems like no one knows for sure....i suppose if i credit the artists and the developers of the games that should be enough to ward off the lawyers...
 
I don't believe there would be any problems regarding copyright. Regardless, take a look at the U.S. Copyright Office's website for more information. Where do you plan on hosting all of these videos?

i have designed the site already on my own host...i said there is ~700Mb but there is a LOT more than that, i dont have the server space for much more...any suggestions?

the quality of these videos are excellent and i am thinking of adding vids from all sorts of racing games from the popular to the obscure...

what do you think? would any one be intrested in watching them...?

for example, there is a 10-15 minute (unfinished) definative GT Concept video showcasing the concept cars, new pacific and european cars, dream cars and racing cars.

there are full length WRC series videos from Monte Carlo, Aus, UK Spain etc...using Impreza, Evolution, Focus RS, Skoda WRC cars...

Colin McRae videos from all over the world using WRC and 1600 category rally cars like Ford Puma, Fiat Punto, Xsara WRC, Evo, Focus etc...

Some of the lesser known PS2 games such as Ford Racing II, Total Immersion Racing, Auto Modelista, London Racer, Lotus Challenge, Toca Race Driver, Ridge Racer... and tons more...

I think as long as you credit the artist/song, and aren't making any money off of the vids, then there should be no problem.

You'll have to watch your bandwidth if it's limited. My site is ~650Mb and I get allowed 10Gb of traffic per month. 2 months ago I was 9Gb over that :eek:
 
cheers buddy....yes i will watch the bandwidth carefully because my host charges when you go over it without telling you...then asks you to upgrade at extra cost...

Your videos sound great, I may be interested in hosting your Gran Turismo videos for you if I could take a look at a few of them?
 
When dealing with that amount of data I've often wondered if it would be cheaper to make CD-Rs (or even DVD-Rs) and mail them to people (:

you could be right my friend.....i have the site already to go now, its hosted and some of the vids are finished and i never even thought about the costs that bandwidth over use will incur....now i am having second thoughts....

i will post some and perhaps Jordan can host a couple for me too...
