Gran turismo Virtual reality is epic

For Christmas I got PS4 virtual reality.

The first game I played (and have played nonstop pretty much) is gran turismo sport. It's truly amazing. I play it on base PS4, not pa4 Pro.

The sense of scale is amazing. It's like your actually driving. You get a feel of the distance and scale when you drive right behind another vehicle, and you can judge the distance of your bonnet to the distance of the back of the vehicle in front.

I've driven about 10 tracks, multiple times. Nurburgring, sazuka, willow springs (especially the sunset ones) and the city tracks. Pure excellence!

Omg! You have to try go-karts in virtual reality. It's insane fun.

I wish they would add some sort of time trial mode. Or make the a.i harder. Gt sport is great in vr, if you haven't tried it, you must.

Virtual reality is the future and if polyphony digital can update the game with more content I would absolutely love it. Maybe a VR mode for 1v1 online race. Or a drift mode and time trial vr mode with your ghosts saved.

This game has so much potential for virtual reality and I can see where this is heading.

Thanks.

It's great, just a shame there's no competition and only 2 laps. Rally is so much better in VR since you can actually look where you are going while drifting.

DriveClub is the full game in VR, it will keep you busy for months. Dirt Rally as well and that still has daily challenges. Both have online racing but it's hard to find a match nowadays. If you want your stomach turned inside out, try TrackMania Turbo in VR. And in Februari Wipeout is getting a free patch to add VR mode.

I'd settle just for being able to choose the number of laps. But yea, PSVR is a great way to marvel at those meticulously-crafted interiors. I'm a lifelong BMW guy, but now I know I could live with a Merc AMG, thanks to the fantastic interior! Similarly, I now know I couldn't possibly buy a Corvette in real life, cos the interior design just doesn't do it for me. It's a great way to "sell" a car in real life. Having the real-life money is another thing altogether...

Oh the samba bus, oh yes. Last night I was driving with the samba on Nurburgring, so epic.

And yes, the kart racing, what an experience. I was constantly looking down at my kart. It's so detailed and marvellously beautiful.

VR changes everything for me! It's been such a blast, I just want more options with vr please...

To answer your question. Unfortunately no, you can only play in arcade mode with one other car. You can use all the tracks and almost all the cars though. The sense of presence/ability to "be there" is pretty amazing imo!

Interesting thread. I don't have VR yet for GTS.
Question: Can you access Sport mode to race online in VR?

No. There's only 1 on 1 with AI (that doesn't pose any challenge) limited to 2 laps. (1 lap on Nord/Nurb 10 laps on the tiny oval)

I need to get back to VR, there was no Samba bus or karts yet when I played it in the beginning. The race cars are exhilarating on the nurb but it's shocking how small the windows are.

The karts are awesome cuz you feel so exposed, small and the tarmac is right there. It feels so fast to me in a different way. Need to try the same samba bus. Good times!

I played some more in VR again, still awesome. Nordschleife with Karts and Samba bus, the kart goes faster than the bus! It takes forever to go down the straight, plenty of time to check out all the details. The KTM XBow is great as well on the Nurb 24, pretty slippery at max power. There's another open racer, Honda Project 2&4. I took it out in the dark on Mount Panorama, good fun.

Then the insane Tomahawk race car that reaches over 550 kph. It takes off at the Flugplatz, looks kinda weird in VR as you stay level while the car goes vertical. It's too twitchy for my liking, could hardly keep it off the inside walls on Tokyo Expressway. I did some laps with GR.3 cars then I started missing the competition too much and went back to boring yet way more exciting 2D racing. Turn cockpit off again as on a tv screen it takes up way too much real estate, nvm it's just ugly on tv compared to VR.

I wish PD would import ps2 car models to let me race in VR. I don't care what the other cars look like, just give me something to do apart from touring the track for 2 laps. Heck let me do qualifying for Sport races in VR, then I might actually bother to set a decent time :)

We need more threads like this. It's really nice to see people enjoying other aspects of the game.

I'm hoping to get a VR headset by 2019. (Don't have the money right now) It looks amazing in GT Sport from what I've seen.

Ah, thanks Jacksherer! I haven't done that yet, just making my way 100% through the offline mode before I watch the race etiquette video and head online. It makes sense why I haven't seen it yet. Thanks again for the response!

I hadn't thought of trying the kart. TOONIGHT!!! Definitely! And the Cora too. Thanks for the suggestions. Dirt Rally is amazeballs. What I especially love is the ability to adjust your seat position still. You can really dial your sight line in on Drt Rally. I like to adjust it so that when I'm looking down, I can just see my seatbelt on my chest, just like I would in real life.

Having a co-driver is awesome, after rolling my car in dirt rally vr it would be the icing on the cake if when you look at your co-driver he is looking back with a miffed look on his face and ruffles his paper notes.
I really hope GT add hot lapping to VR very soon.
