Since we're doing Rolling Starts at Spa again in the x2019 Red Bull, wonder if it'll be like before in the 2023/24 Exhibition where all the drivers start before the final chicane since we're not using Grid Starts like last year's 2024 Series.

Honestly wouldn't be opposed to it if they do. The disadvantage from starting in the chicane is horrible.

I just hope I don't have the car behind going full send into the bus stop right off the start like I did last time. Easily the fastest I've ever seen someone get a penalty.

Didn't hit me, but did hit the car in front of me and immediately break the train to the cars in front before we'd even made it onto the straight to start lap 1 proper...

A quick update on strategy testing. I've done a few more tests, which has smoothed out the data a fair bit, but hasn't affected the overall ordering of the strategies. The 8RS-13RM-1RH strategy is still at the top of the list in my simulated races. Updated tables and charts in the SPOILER section below.

I was too tired to do that first round at Road Atlanta between work and my acting class. In fact, I was initially thinking of foregoing this entire season for multiple reasons, like how two rounds use the same courses as the Manufacturers Cup (Suzuka and Spa-Francorchamps), two rounds both use the X2019, and so on. However, it turns out that the best GT2 driver in my state only has a score of 74, so now I feel a lot more interested. Could I indeed end up as the best GT2 driver in my state? I'm inclined to think it may be more realistic than I had previously thought, but I'll have to do all the remaining rounds to find out!

Here's my (probably wonky) strategy thinking...

Start on mediums. My guess is the majority will start on Hards, they will get out of the way at the end of lap 1.

A bit of fuel save and stop lap 13, take hards because you can choose any fuel amount from 1-9 laps. Choice might be useful if you pit at the same time as other medium runners, or want to avoid traffic.

One lap on the hards and pit for softs. Leave the pits with 8 laps of fuel, the perfect amount for nursing them to the end.

I've over-thought this, haven't I?

I've just been watching @Mikail Hizal's rundown for Spa and there's some important race settings that could go under the radar. I know I hadn't looked at least. (Thanks for doing these videos Mikail!)

This race has custom slipstream and very slow (3L/s) refuelling. Short-shifting to save fuel and/tyres and maybe even using fuel maps whilst in the tow of the car in front could therefore offer strategic advantages when it comes to the pit stops.

Just remember to find out how much fuel you would need per lap to go all out because the diamond displayed on the bar whilst refuelling is the estimate based on your fuel use up to that point in the race. If you've been saving a lot, it could underestimate what you need to finish if you then get some free air to push.

Just finished Oceania GT2 Slot 1. Started P3. Since I was up the front I decided to do @Moose78 's strat of 8RS-13RM-1RH. P1 and P2 started on RM so I was able to get by them within the first 2 laps. I was pretty slow on the softs so I didn't have too much trouble making 8 laps on them (was cutting it close though). At the first stop at the end of lap 8 I changed to RM and filled the tank to 100%. Final pit stop was at the end of lap 21 for RH.

I'm happy to say that strat worked out great for me as I ended up winning by 20 seconds. I did a tiny bit of short shifting throughout the race, but on lap 21/22 I did need to mess with the fuel mix to make it home.
