One of the guys joining in highlighting the issue is one of those banned (for not even a week, and in effect from Manufacturers only) for race manipulation last year...
I saw the posts of the guy you are referring to and the first thought that came to my mind was that this guy claiming for values or driving standards in top split doesnt do any favour to the original claimer.

Is like seeing a bully pointing other bullies for bulling people.

Not had time to look at Fuji race yet, and unlikely to get any; will have to jump in cold if I get an opportunity tomorrow. Planning to use the NSX 16, probably on RS until they get too red, then RM to (hopefully) the end.

But it's Fuji, so anyone checked/confirmed chances of rain? Please tell me it's gonna stay dry...

Edit: Also, was DR/SR back on for the last race? If so, assuming the F3500 race without was an anomaly?

I'm pretty sure that there will be no rain. RM and RS are mandatory. Usually if there is a chance of rain, we would only be allowed one type of racing tire along with the W and IM.

I started testing cars for this final round at Fuji on the weekend. Here's how things are looking for me so far.

I've only tried the four newest cars (Audi RS 5 '19, Honda NSX '16, Nissan GT-R '16, and Lexus RC F '16). I found I could make the softs last 12 laps in these cars, so that's what I tested . For the mediums, I did 15-lap tests. Most of the cars have only had one round of tests so far. The only one that I've done a second round in is the Honda.

The weather settings I used were Late Morning S05, which doesn't match the Afternoon S06 that GT-Engine says we're getting, but I'm hoping it isn't too far off.

It's looking like the Audi is the car for me. The Honda is dominating the leader boards, but I just can't seem to get along with it as well.
Tried the same four cars and my timing is more or less the same with all of them.
Changing car everytime I am improving thinking that it is better but when back to the previous one I got the same timing or even better... so it is more experience improvement right now than car performing better.

Tire consumption could be the difference, meaning that the car that will be managing better than the other while the tire is deteriorating.
If the change is smooth it is better compared to an unexpected jump, so you can decide if to stay one more lap on the track due to some traffic conditions without regretting to be stayed out one further lap and having a car undriveable.

What it is concerning more in absolute is T1 that at the start and for the first 2-3 laps could be a carnage.
Starting with soft seems mandatory to have the best performance immediately, to be super reactive in case of crashes, and then with medium to survive till the end.

As always every race has its own story...

Good luck for tomorrow!

Human drama:

I broadly agree, and most of these are worse than the ones they were zeroing people for (the Urra/Suzuka/TGRGT one is still the pinnacle of "why" disqualifications)... but this lot wouldn't even register in GT2/3 League lobbies. The four combined nudges across three rounds would just be one normal lap in any given race.

It's all well and good complaining about it with qualification on the line and when it affects you - and yes, it absolutely should be flagged especially given the DSQs and the race manipulation (which a wingman is) bans - but I personally think that all players at all levels deserve not to have their leisure time ruined by ****splats, and either this is bad anywhere or it's fine anywhere. The one thing it can't be is fine for us and bad for them.

One of the guys joining in highlighting the issue is one of those banned (for not even a week, and in effect from Manufacturers only) for race manipulation last year...

Edit: Yeah. Make of this what you will...

There's this guy who always says that you can never say what actually happened in any given incident in online racing because there isn't an objective reality due to netcode. One player sees one thing, another sees another and the game kinda decides what happened which might not be either.

Me is that guy. Anyway, more human drama.

Disclaimer: I don't know these guys and this is just my observation from checking the St. Croix race replay in-game that anybody can find on Inostroza's account.

The incidents he highlighted definitely look bad, but like you said they wouldn't even register on any online race as out of the ordinary - unfortunately. I wish it wasn't so. And indeed netcode / he said she said / whatever.

One thing that's basically undeniable though is that Amarok was 100% there to wingman L. Bonelli. No idea if that's against any written rule, or just against the spirit of the game, but they were so obviously tag-teaming it's impressive. Amarok is bumpdrafting Bonelli the entire race when they can, literally never moves to overtake, Bonelli obviously never even moves to defend. Amarok makes sure to only bump in the straights never to upset the car in the front, always avoided bumpdrafting anybody else if they were separated, sticks as close as possible through the corners without ever accidentally bumping Bonelli while not going straight, it was genuinely super impressive driving - and again entirely against the spirit of this whole competition. They even mounted some really cool 2-wide defense with Bonelli sticking to the line, while Amarok was going on the inside to try and prevent others behind them from diving down.

Honestly mega driving, I just wonder what it takes to find someone who's this good a driver - one of the top 16 in their region - but at the same time willing to sacrifice their results for another to win.

I hope this is the right forum. I was just wondering how I can be listed as 6th in my county for the Nations Cup but no drivers are listed.

Kinda wild to see the contrast between SA and NA. In NA we're all practicing together and getting along (bar one or two incidents).

I think the Secondary Area is always hidden (just shows you your place), probably not to show off players in your immediate neighborhood.

You can still see all of the players in the Main Area section, but you don't know who from that list is in Secondary with you.

Can't say I have much confidence going into this final round. Fuji is definitely one of my weakest tracks.

I'll be driving the non-META Audi, which has a mix of advantages and disadvantages. On the plus side, it has better tire wear than the NSX, so I'll be able to run a longer RS stint. It also has the DRS, which helps with top speed on the straights, and extra downforce in the corners. On the downside, other drivers in the NSX, especially at the DR B level, will likely assume that every car on the track is carrying the same speed as they are throughout the track, which increases the likelihood that I'll get punted or pushed off the track somewhere.

My best lap in Free Practice is a 1:28.6, which I expect will land me mid-pack at best. For strategy, I'm planning 10RM-10RS with the hope of picking up a position or two on the undercut. If I can finish in the top half I'll be happy.

Good luck to everybody racing today!

Thx for your insight Moosey!! I really love the GT2 NSX and Fuji is very fun if given the right combos, would you recommned the DTM Audi since its a longer race or the NSX??? Cud the RCF GT500 or GTR 500 be anti-meta cars to work also???

In my opinion, any of the newer Gr.2 cars (the '16 ones and the '19 DTM) can be competitive, especially in the GT2 and GT3 leagues. There, a good result probably depends more on avoiding incidents and needless battling over positions.

If you like the NSX, you'll have plenty of company.

I'm driving the Audi because that's what I found I'm fastest in. That's apparently not the case for most people.

GT1 EMEA 1st slot low A lobby

Q11 with a 1.28.5XX, finished P10 and did a M12-S8 as did most. Never really gelled with the track/car combo and was quite a dull race with no real strategy. Shame to end the series on it, as the last race was one of the ones that reminds me why I play, whereas this was one that made my question why I still do.

That went better than expected...

gtws-nc-rd6-racing.webp

Landed in the same lobby as @afc5150. Good to see you there, friend!

I couldn't have asked for a better qualifying time. I pretty much matched my Free Practice best. Landed me in Q5, much better than expected.

I started on RMs, as did everybody ahead of me. My plan was 10RM-10RS.

The first lap was more civilized than I expected (at least from where I was -- @afc5150 would disagree, I think). A couple drivers ahead spun up their tires, which let me get past them. The driver behind me was pretty aggressively poking his nose in on me wherever he could, so I let him by as we entered the complex of corners. That left me in P4 at the end of the lap.

And that's pretty much where I stayed for most of the race. The polesitter flew off into the distance. I was able to keep up with the P2 and P3 cars for a while, but I lost them when I had bad run through the final sector one lap. That let me concentrate on driving my laps.

As we got closer to the 10-lap mark, the telemetry app that I use showed that the mediums were getting over 90 degrees, which is hotter than I expected. I decided to stay out one extra lap, to lap 11, just to be safe. I didn't want to burn out the softs, if they were going to wear more than in my practice races.

The P2 and P3 cars stayed out one more lap. The undercut got me back in striking of the P3 car. I tucked in behind, waiting for my chance to make a move.

It came at the start of lap 15, when they went wide out of turn 1 into the green stuff. I slipped by (pictured above) and before I knew it, had more than a second gap on them as they dealt with their dirty tires. Up to P3.

The P2 car was out of reach, so it was just a matter of defending my position for the rest of the race. The Audi was great for this. With the DRS, I was pulling away from the NSX on all the straights. They would gain in the final sector, but I'd leave them in the dust again on the rest of the track.

So I was able to hold P3 to the finish for 108 points and 4.3% increase to my DR B progress, bringing it to 78.3%.

What a great way to finish of the season! Much better than I expected.

Trying to figure out if I want to use the Honda NSX or the Audi RS5 for this. Haven't had time to test with how busy I've been so I kinda have no idea what is good.

It probably comes down to which one you are faster in. I really struggled to control the rotation of the NSX in the final complex of corners at Fuji. It turns too well. I was faster in the Audi.

Having driven the Audi in the race, it seems to have a couple advantages. First, it is better on tires, so you can run a longer RS stints. Second, the DRS gives it a higher top speed on the straights when it is enabled, while providing more downforce and grip on the corners when it is disabled. That extra downforce seems to help with dirty air that we get with the 'Real' slipstream. It also helps in the braking zones.

The main disadvantage is that it might not be as fast as the NSX. Judging by how many NSXs were in my race, I suspect I might be an oddball in being faster in it.

I suppose one other disadvantage is that you always have to be minding the DRS, which can be a bit distracting at times.

After two days making a livery for the GT-R I actually tried driving it today. Then I tried the NSX and it was faster, more stable and better on its tyres. Whoops.

First go, qualified 7th and finished 6th. Mostly an uneventful race apart from a moment I had at the chicane which let one guy go past and a pack catch up to me. I then ended up going into the back of him at the final corner then collected him again as I was going past. Then he binned it at t1 on the next lap. After watching the replay I was a lot clumsier than I thought during it, I'd like that one back. I'll apologise again if I see him.

Went again, qualified 6th with a 27.8. Made up one place at the first corner. I think I made up another place somewhere because I was in 4th, desperately trying to cling on to 3rd. By lap 8 I ended up alongside a Ukrainian at t1. He tried to go into t2 side by side, like so:

Fuji International Speedway__5.webp

I took the corner and kept the place. From there I pitted on lap 12 (everyone in this race started on mediums) and I ended up 5th for 174 points. I'm claiming 3rd morally, 1st and 2nd were smurfs who finished 20 seconds up the road. My best score this championship was 175 at Suzuka on Wednesday, so I'm happy with this to finish. It was largely uneventful but it was a tough drive, and I couldn't have got anything more out of the car.

That race went pretty well.

For this race i decided to use the Audi RS5. I joined the first EMEA GT1 slot, and i qualified in P9 with a 1:27.7.

In the lobby most people were in the NSX, but there was 3 Lexus, 1 GTR, and me in the Audi

The race got off to a good start since the Audi is pretty good off the line and i was on the tail of P8 immediately, and then i gained another position at T1, since i cut across the grass a little bit, which thankfully never gave me a penalty and now i was in P7. Then at the end of lap 1 at the start of the straight, thanks to PD's net code, somehow i managed to slingshot bump draft the German in P6 past P5 & P4 who were 5 tenths in front.

At the start of lap 2, i made a move up the inside on the Greek person at T3, and now i was in P6. Then during the next lap i pulled away from the Greek person and i was now behind P5 and P4. At the start of lap 8, i moved into P5 after P2 went into the pits to switch from soft to mediums.

At the end of lap 8, the Hungarian in front of me, made a mistake in the braking zone for the last corner, so now i was only 3 tenths behind them going on to the straight. I managed to overtake them going into T1, so now i was in P4. Then at the end of lap 11 i entered the pits to switch from mediums to softs. I left the pits and rejoined the track in P13, then i moved up to P12 at the T12 hairpin, then i made a move on a Lexus at the final corner. Then at the start of lap 13, i was now in P6 after people made their pit stops on lap 12.

Then i moved up to P5 after someone made a late pit stop at the end of lap 13, then i spent the next couple of laps defending, since the Hungarian was on my tail. They unfortunately got by me at the start of lap 16 after i went a little bit deep into T1. Then during the last 3 laps, i had a fellow UK driver on my tail. Then at the end of lap 19, they did overtake me into the final corner, but i managed to re overtake going into T1 on the last lap. Then towards the end of the last lap, they tried to make a move at T15 but went slightly deep.

In the end i finished P6 for 204 points which I'm pretty happy with.

The Audi felt pretty decent, and was good off the line and had decent straight line speed. The Audi did feel a tiny little bit sketchy on the mediums when exiting corners.

EMEA GT3 - 19:00 - Q4 P11

Nothing of particular to say.
Qualified with 1:29.130 also my best time ever.
At T1 I could have braked a little too late but I was also hit. Got 2 sec penalty and I am at P8 in the middle of spinning cars.
At T2 I was pushed out and I am at P10.
At T5 I am pushed out and I am also kicking out someone else… other 5 sec penalty.
Never got 7 seconds penalty in all the race done so far.
Before to finish the first lap I am the last one with in front of me other 4-6 cars becoming ghosts for their penalties.

I did 11 laps with soft and 9 with medium.
I am lapping consistently at 1:30 and overtaking some cars during pits.

I finish in P11.
I don’t care.
I am gold at all levels and 5 millions in the pocket.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the next GTWS season… because reading all your comments and strategy suggestions is what make sense and very nice to participate.

GT2 slot 1 with @Moose78 this morning although I barely saw him other than in the driver intros. Great result, man!

I went Q9 to P5 after being spun around at the last corner on lap 1 and down to 13th place. Head down, and a trouble free run from there, with decent pace.

Was on for a 7th place until 5th and 6th had a tangle and I was able to easily get by and bring it home.

Glad to put this season behind me as it was pretty dismal and I never broke the 100 point barrier once.

Thanks as always to the fine folks in this thread for all the race reports, the hints and tips and the overall fun I have visiting this thread. Makes the races more meaningful to me and I'm happy to be part of it.

On to the next season, thanks again all.

It's not that I love Fuji, I think I just don't dislike it as much as most other people - so the conditions are leveled.

Really bad qualifying (28.9) left me in 10th position, but started one slot higher as someone left the lobby prior to the race.
That was not optimal, but quite good first corner allowed me to advance one position and follow the front pack over a second behind (free of dirty air) and 2 seconds ahead of fighting pack behind.

Inevitable spins and dramas (plus penalties) happened over next two laps, so suddenly I found myself P5. Free air ahead, free space behind. Just enough to pull some solid laps on mediums (verging around 29/30). It felt so nice that I decided to prolong my medium stint from 12 to 13 laps (me shredding the softs is a sad view).

Left pits P6 (someone from behind pitted very early for softs). Lost some time to cars 5 and 4 on the out lap, but they were held ferociously by the early pitter so I caught up. They were defending a little bit too much, on a verge of foul play, but that allowed me to take advantage of the fight, use the optimal line and overtake two cars basically in turn 3 where they went wide.

With two laps to go I'm driving 4th with a slim hope for a podium, but the Canadian returning from penalty was just hands down to quick for me, so that's how it settled on the finish line.

My best finish position in GT1 and the highest points tally to date - 138. A really nice way to finish the season.
That was also the first race to sport the colours of Titans Racing Club!

I'm finishing the season with just 588 points, but for one DNS and one really bad race on the way that is not so bad.
Still hanging in the DR A though... Not expected at all.

That was really tough two months with GTWS, hoping for a little breather and I can "peacefully" return to my hard run of Alien Isolation (@stpatty knows).
Thanks everyone for the reports and hard test work (the Moose-man you're the one!).
Hopefully see you next time!
