GT1 is the only league where a 60+ minute race won't have an impact on your next slot. Dynamic weather races, with lots of laps can easily run over the hour mark. The avg lap time at Spa is 2:20 per lap which can increase by 20 sec per lap with rain tyres. Seeing as its a 20 lap race, you can definitely overlap the next slot in GT2/3 league.I havent really been paying attention to previous race durations. I assumed PD kept each event to under 60mins. I can't recall if I've done an event that over ran into the next time slot...(tbh, I've not done that many)
When you sign up you get loaned one specific model from Gr4 and Gr3, but if you own any of the other cars from that manufacturer you can use them. For example Ford loan you the GT Race Car '18 but you can race any of their other Gr3s if you own them. Some Brands have available 2/3 different models for each of Gr.3/4 cars.
When we select a brand to race with, are we going to have available all of them or some pre-defined models?
I mean in the past I raced with Ford, but I always had available only the GT Race '18 but never the 2 LM or the Mustang.

If I should select Mazda, which cars will be available to race?

I think the other manufacturers which have a 5 car selection are Toyota and Nissan. Although BMW snd Nissan has the most in GR3 class with 4 cars!!!Some Brands have available 2/3 different models for each of Gr.3/4 cars.

Remember there are a couple of Gr4 races and one of them has to be a counting score for your overall results (if you care about that). The Gr4 BMW is not good.Struggling a bit with choosing manufacturer. Considering BMW (I'm fastest with it on Spa but lots of local folks with choose it due to brand popularity here), AMG (very close time wise and love the looks of those cars), Nissan (done a lot one of daily races recently) and Dodge (always wanted to try it, famed Viper). Maybe there's some fuel consumption & tires wear breakdown for this cars or they're very close to each other and basically it's just a matter of personal preference? And skill ofc in the end.
Last time I've chosen Suzuki and it was easy golds in the end so fat paycheck, due to very low popularity of the brand![]()
I'll have to be mindfull of time then, I can only start from 6pm, if its going badly I'll have to quit early to get onto next slot..difficult in VR.. No idea of time.. infact no idea on anything!...pretty blind to what's going on😔I havent really been paying attention to previous race durations. I assumed PD kept each event to under 60mins. Please don’t quit races for the next slot just because it’s going badly.I'll have to be mindfull of time then, I can only start from 6pm, if its going badly I'll have to quit early to get onto next slot..difficult in VR.. ...I can't even make out tyre wear on ps pro as the hud graphics are all distorted (iir...the pssr setting)I'll have to be mindfull of time then, I can only start from 6pm, if its going badly I'll have to quit early to get onto next slot..difficult in VR.. I know there's a hit on points. But If i dont, I'll only be able to do the 6 and 8pm time slotsPlease don’t quit races for the next slot just because it’s going badly.
In this case I think it's justified, it's so rare to get a chance to do these longer strategy based races, it would be a waste to miss a chance. Please don’t quit races for the next slot just because it’s going badly.
I expect some helpful folk on here will post news of how long it's taking before your 6pm slot, and what your chances are of making the next slot. So at least you'll know if you need to quit before the end of a dry race or not. If it's wet and borderline on the timing then it still might get tricky.I'll have to be mindfull of time then, I can only start from 6pm, if its going badly I'll have to quit early to get onto next slot..difficult in VR.. If that’s the reasoning, to do these races as much as possible, everyone should be quitting even if they’re doing well? Even if they’re winning? In this case I think it's justified, it's so rare to get a chance to do these longer strategy based races, it would be a waste to miss a chance.
Couple of questions I'm curious about in general...Just done a lobby sim, horrendous. Rain lap 7, put on inters ..was full wet😭 Q1 in dry, Finished last, 1 minute behind winner, span once. My race time was 53mins. So add 5 mins quali, + a few for the warm up and ceremony faff. I can't see a wet race making the next time slot. I'll probably put phone alarm to go off 5 mins before the hr, so I know where I am
It’s not updated to the latest BoP but I doubt anything has changed drastically:Do you know if there is any website where to find the fuel consumption of all different Gr3/4 cars?
It is true that there will be BOP applied so maybe the differences will be reduced, however having a car that can pit a little bit later it could be very convenient in some situations.
And the same information about tires could be interesting (even if I think less critical).
Thanks
Why not? Please don’t quit races for the next slot just because it’s going badly.
Indeed. GT1 times are 7:00, 9:00, and 11:00P Eastern. Much more reasonable than 9:00, 11:00. and 1:00A.I just went into Free Practice to get some wet laps in and on a lark I clicked on the 'Enter' button to check when the slots are this season. I figured they might be shifted an hour since the end of Daylight Saving Time since the Nations Cup. I was a little surprised that they are actually shifted two hours earlier instead just one. The first GT2 slot in the Americas is at 10AM, versus the 12PM it was in the Nations Cup. If you haven't yet, I'd recommend checking for yourself before Wednesday.
It’s not updated to the latest BoP but I doubt anything has changed drastically:
I am starting my gr3 BoP test now. I did at least 13 flying laps in each car at every track and took the optimal time. I used 3 different tracks to test with. For the fuel and tire wear test I ran 4x fuel and 9x tire wear until the first tire went all the way red.
Tokyo Expressway - South Counterclockwise for High Speed BoP
Autodrome Lago Maggiore - East for Low Speed BoP

Thanks for this information I didn't know. I was going for Subaru but they offered me only the BRZ and not the WRZ I was looking for. So I went for Jaaaaag in a spontaneous move... I won't take this Cup serious and probably miss some rounds. Nice to see many familiar faces and helping hands here! ❣️When you sign up you get loaned one specific model from Gr4 and Gr3, but if you own any of the other cars from that manufacturer you can use them. When you select a manufacturer on the sign-up screen I think it shows you the 2 cars you'll be given.
Totally agree. It helps me because I prepare but it is a massive disadvantage for those that don't. Totally random would be nice.Hopefully it is properly random and not the scripted stuff we've had before. It's no fun and a bit stupid knowing exactly when to pit because you've read it here or watched some streamer from the East.
I have done some testing too. I suppose that this example is your number 3 but maybe yours was different still. All of the testing that I've done for this first round so far has been in Free Practice -- mostly just to see what the weather does.
From what I seen, the weather moves very slowly. The race always starts with a dry track.
If there is rain along the moving edge of weather, it hits the track toward the end of the the 5th lap. If it is just the lightest blue rain on the radar, it is probably safe to go another lap, but anything darker, the moisture gauge will be well over the first tick before the 6th lap is out. Best to pit for rain tires at the end of the 5th if there is any moderate or dark blue on the track.
Even with the lightest blue rain, the water accumulates on the track. In the one 20-lap session I did, which was mostly light blue with some medium blue, it continued to accumulate until it was just over the second tick on the moisture gauge, showing just a sliver of blue. It took until lap 10 to reach this level, then stayed there until the band of weather cleared the track on lap 16. Once the rain stopped, the moisture gauge was very slow to drop. It did come down under the second tick, but stayed well over the halfway mark until I got to the end of lap 20.
It looks to me like we can get three basic patterns of weather:
Since the weather is random, I fully expect that my races will be completely dry because that's what always happens. I hope I'm wrong. I like racing in the rain. It's one of the few things in this game that I feel I'm pretty good at.
- Completely dry - I still have to do some testing on this, but the obvious thing to do strategy-wise here is pit midway through, change tires, and take on whatever fuel is need to to get to the finish.
- Rain to the end - Rain comes on lap 5 and soaks the track to the end. It seems like the W tires are the best choice since the moisture gauge gets pinned to the second tick mark or slightly above for the rest of the race.
- Band of rain - This is a toss-up between W and IMs. The IMs will be faster while the water is accumulating and clearing, but Ws will be faster while everything is soaked. I suppose I'll just play it by ear if I find myself in this situation.
What I like to do for driving in the rain is enable the driving line assist. When it is wet, the usual driving line is more slippery than the rest of the track, so I use the driving line assist to show me where that slippery part is. To maximize my grip, I try to drive alongside the line without driving on it, and only cross it briefly when I need to set myself up for the next corner. I find it really helps to keep the car from sliding out from under me.It is incredible how much I struggled to driving in such conditions.
