Many thanks Zorz & Moose78 you're right guys, with slightly tap on breaks and reducing gear by one I easily pass go through this turn. I believe this method, if consistent throughout the race ofc will be enough for my gt3, DR C EU lobbies, not to mention DR B's:) Now I'm sitting on 1:36,130 and enough of practice in optimal scenario. Tomorrow will go for full race to check 1RH, 16RM, 8RS strategy. Cheers & thanks again!

I'm also planning to start on hard tires, but I'm considering how many laps I'll have left on them. Perhaps I should do more than one lap to allow for some wear on the medium and soft tires. On the other hand, if I'm starting in the middle of the pack, it's probably better to start after the first lap to avoid creating a fight that could lead to a crash. If I'm starting at the end, I'm thinking of doing at least two to four laps on hard tires.

I'd recommend doing 3 laps on Hards at least unless you are very good at managing your tyres.

I've tried a full practice run going 14M-3H-8S and the Mediums started to drop off significantly for me around lap 12-13. They weren't completely dead and had a few laps left in them, but they were so worn down that switching to fresh Hards was noticeably better.

Agree, good tip, thx. I did practice race and last lap on RH and it was great difference in grip in comparison to worn off RM's.
I'll go most probably 2 on RH like 8 RS, 15 RM, 2 RH or 2RH, 15 RM, 8 RS depends where I qualify. If top of the pack (like top 5) then start on softs, if middle or lower than on RH.
With preference to RH's as first lap is usually a blood bath anyways and I focus on survival (not to get push off the track, not to cross yellow line, not to bump someone) rather than actual racing:)

Going to aim to qualify with TC 0 but race with TC1 as there's just too many places a lap where the back end kicks and I doubt I could hold it every time over 30 laps!

3rd!
Not really happy with it as I could easily be 1st, if not numerous small mistakes, one lesser and one major spin when I had a problem to get car back on track. And I was leading mid race with +10s advantage... Basically watch out for this green surface as it's a super slippery and lowest touch on gas while on it, it's guaranteed problem.
Anyways, qualified second (1:36:100-ish) so went for RS at first. Mistake number one, I was nervous and couldn't take advantage of them so basically apart of 2-3 laps it was waste of good compound. From lap 9 RM's and here I was shining. Constant, similar times, as said 1st place for numerous laps, with +10 second lead. And when I thought I'll take it home easly my RM's had different point of view. Around 10 lap on them and having them like slightly below 1/2 I stopped feeling grip, done those spins, had some other errors...1st position turned to like 5th and I thought that it'll go even worst so around 12 lap on RM's I changed it to RH, just to keep the position.
But then I goy my composure back and it was good racing on those and managed to get to 4th place. In the end leading guys haven't pitted for 2nd time and so I ended 3rd in the end.
I'll take this result as it's not an easy race, even if I feel confident in RB's, I don't quite like Suzuka lot's of things might go south in other tries. My advice would be to prioritize grip over speed so if you feel like you're underperforming (like me on RM's in the second part) just change for different compound and don't think about your initial plan.
Good luck to all of you!

8pm AEDT slot. Majority B with 2 A drivers.

Not my best qualifying, first hot lap was solid, but next 2 were terrible which started me in 8th.

Was originally planning a 3H 14M 8S strategy, but seeing the wear on the softs from just 4 laps of quali decided to try play it safe and go an extra lap on hards.

Started well getting up to 6th as a few people ran off track. Just about to head into the pits end of lap 4 and someone decides to go up the inside of me and pushing me wide so decide to stay out and go an extra lap instead of copping a 3 second penalty.

That altered my strategy a bit more to a 5H 13M 7S which really worked out well for me.

Ended up finishing 4th for 109 points (my first 100+ point haul) and could have got 3rd, but had a big enough gap to 5th so didn't want to push too hard.

Very bad race. Softs didn't last 7 laps at the end! 13th will go again. Has anyone got advice for keeping traction in the final corner?

Also don't be this guy (also mean me for going deep and being in the wrong gear 😂)

Having just watched a stream from a GT3-league race, those first couple laps are extremely chaotic. I'm half tempted to drop to the back on hards at the start just to survive. My guess is that at the GT2 level, if I can get through the race without any major incidents I should be able to get a decent result.

Good luck to everybody yet to race!

Next attempt I had a 2:27 first lap and 1:59 second lap so you can imagine how that went 😂

After doing a few lobby races I've found the tyres do seem to drop off considerably after 50% so I'm thinking of starting on M, switching to S when they start dropping off, then on to H when the S drop off. May not be the optimum but I don't want to be struggling on degrading tyres on the final laps if I haven't accurately gauged the grip drop off

Again like most Nations Cup races, I didn't take it with a lot of enthusiasm. As a matter of fact, after reading this forum a bit I decided to take the strategy of @Thorson1987 (A huge shout for 'solving' the race on my end lol!) into my race. Qualifying wasn't much to ride home about. Although I could have improved a bit if:

  • I would to practice more since free practise got me a mid 1:34, which could have gotten me at the mid pack instead of 2nd last.
  • Or if there wasn't two cars exiting it the pits as soon as I started my second lap, negating any attempts to improve my time.
Gran Turismo® 7_20260225191233.webp

So, I started with hards up until the end of Lap 5. I was making some gains from the chaos of the beginning as well as some snap over-and-understeer incidents some of the grid had. I pushed my mediums for an extra lap to help build a gap a bit (by bit meaning barely). It was close enough to maintain my position of 9th from an overcut just as I exited the pits. Then the rest of the race was more of a test on how long I can hold the car from a spin, even with TCS set to 1.
Artboard 1.webp

I do think the tyres held up reasonably well all things considered...

It feels like the races involving the X2019 seems to be a bit interesting. For Montreal it was down to the car in a narrow track, while Suzuka was down to the strategies and trying to survive the car too. Two people had DNF'd from the round, with one being the pole-sitter of the match!

But that's it for me in this Nations Cup. It's a little lame compared to the Manufactures Cup honestly. I'm not too sure if I would want to do any future exhibitions rounds that could come. Maybe time would tell.

Instead of doing the last round, this Saturday would be occupied by me doing another GT7 race, hosted by a local sim-racing outlet for their first time. Doing 24 laps around Le Mans in a full day-night cycle, with rain coming in the end. And the cars are restricted to 2016 LMP1 machines in Gr.1 (R18, 919 Hybrid, TS050 Hybrid). Seeing how there's a cash prize in the podium, I'm having my doubts of reaching there in the race.

Q4 which I was happy with, and so decided to try my strat of M-S-H. Lap 1 I was all over the place, missing my marks, going wide, but thankfully managed to keep my position and move up 1 from a spinner ahead. P1 started pulling away from me and P2 so hoped they were on soft and P2 was on M like me. Following P2 very closely and quite happy with sitting in P3 but they made a mistake at spoon giving me P2. P1 was on S so pitted lap 8 giving me the lead and some nice breathing room to put in the laps with no pressure and increase the gap to P2. Pitted on L14 for S and managed to come out still on P1, with P2 about 5s behind but on old tyres so started increasing the gap. Had a good 25s gap to 2nd by lap 21 and the S were starting to get ragged on the exits so pitted for the final H stint.

Came out 3s ahead of P2 but they were on S and led to some very tense laps as I wasn't confident on the H as I found I had to brake a lot earlier for some turns (especially T1) so when the moment came I gave up the lead without much of a fight and brought home P2 for 150 points.

Not sure if going H-M-S would have given me the win, don't think I would have done well at the start with others breathing my exhaust, but not going again as very happy with my result. Good luck everyone!

First go was a disaster. Qualified 12th out of 13. The grid got backed up at the start...

... and I still managed to get punted at t1. Ended up 5th but wasn't satisfied even though it was actually a good, fun drive.

Went again, with the same plan of H/M/S, though I decided I was playing it safer and doing 9/10/6. After starting 12th again I got fortunate this time with the pinballing through the first sector and ended up 4th:

A Slovakian who got a penalty on lap 1 passed me eventually, I let him past and pitted into clear air to start my medium stint. I gradually caught up to two cars, one pitted and I gradually caught up to the next two in 6th and 7th. One pitted on lap 13, some others stayed out and actually as I'm watching the replay, quite a few people started on mediums and ran them much further than they should have. I had no idea what the guy (by this point, 4th on lap 14) was doing because I was sure he hadn't pitted, but he must have done that far into the race. Either way I passed him at the chicane and that was that.

For the rest of my medium stint I had more clear air, letting the same Slovakian from before past since he'd gone on to softs. I pitted on lap 19 for softs and came out in 6th. One guy pitted on lap 20. The polesitter pitted on lap 21 and I was 2.5 seconds behind with something to chase. The Slovakian pitted on lap 22 and came out between us. After a bit of DOORHANDLETODOORHANDLE I got past by the end of the esses

Suzuka Circuit__14.webp

(that car in the background is the guy who was still on mediums. He got lapped. He sat in the pits, I don't know)

The Spaniard who had been about 4 seconds behind me got past the Slovakian more easily than I did and by Spoon on lap 24 we were all within slipstream range. I got past at 130R and with a bit of bumping in the chicane I kept the place

Suzuka Circuit__13.webp

When I looked up I saw the Nations livery guy was well behind the Alonso cosplayer and thought they'd crashed but no, just got a bit of a slide out of the esses and binned it. I don't know how people drive this thing without traction control on.

Anyway, 3rd for 175 points:

I knew from my race at the time that I used up every bit of good fortune imaginable. After seeing the replay, I think every car I finished ahead of had gone off, crashed, had a penalty, something. I don't care, I was due a good race. Good luck everyone.

3rd time the charm, P7 😂 was lobby with some aliens who qualified in the mid 1:34's which seems super fast for my lobby about 25% into the B bar. Qualified 10th with 1:36.5. Had a bad first lap again and was last, but this time only about 3 secs off the group instead of 30. Avoided any other carnage or mistakes and ended up 7th, was closing on 6th about a second a lap but ran out of laps. 4th and above were way outside my skill bracket although for a long time I held the fastest lap at 1:35.8. Took home a meagre 60 points and a slither of DR gain.

I love it when a plan comes together...

GT2 - North America - 11AM EST - Door #8 - 118 points available - Q7 (1:36.013)

Qualifying could have gone better. I made a few mistakes on my first flying lap, then got caught behind a recovering crasher towards the end of my second. I didn't have the wherewithal to give up on that second lap and leave some space for the third, so I ended up ruining both.

It's not like it mattered, though. I indulged my temptation. I started on hards and dropped to the back, P14, immediately from the start, before turn 1. I don't know if this was the smartest move, as the lap-1 chaos I was expecting never materialized. Everybody survived. No crashes. 🤷‍♂️

My plan was to run a 1RH-16RM-8RS strategy, but having read some of the race reports here from earlier, I left myself open to doing some more laps on the hards, if I felt it would be to my advantage.

As it turned out, the P11 and P12 cars were also on hards and dove immediately into the pits at the end of the first lap. I didn't want to be caught behind the two of them right from the beginning of my RM stint, so I took the chance on running another lap, on the off chance that the overcut works. At the very least they would likely be more separated, so I might only have to deal with one of them instead of both.

This turned out to be the right move. I pitted on lap 2 and, to my surprise, came out ahead of both of them.

From there, I pulled away. I had clean air until lap 9, when I caught up to a bunch of cars. They were holding me up, but I didn't realize why until they pulled into the pits on RHs on lap 12.

Fine. More breathing room.

As the other drivers pitted, I was place-by-place promoted to P4.

I pitted on lap 17 for RSs. Came out in P5 (I think).

There were a few RH runners ahead of me, who I easily caught and passed. Finished on the podium in P3 for 108 points. That's my best haul of the season so far. That also took my DR B progress up 3.5% to 74%.

I'm more than happy with that. Not about to try again and risk a worse result.

EMEA GT3 - 19:00 - Q13 P6

I am still convinced that driving such cars is a non sense game… anyway…
So without training I got familiar half an hour before the start and I qualify 13 lapping something around 1:37.

At the end my strategy was H/M/S as 5/15/5.
As I was supposing the first two laps were full of yellow flags. I overtook some cars and I was already in P8 quite easily.
But those drivers qualified faster than me and they are recovering. No need to fight so I leave them to pass when behind me.
The point was that several of them were spinning or going out or taking penalties.

I have just driven clean and consistently at 1:40 - 1:38 and lap after lap I passed drivers while were at the box or because I was faster at the end of the race.

Happy to finish in P6 that push my ranking at medium B level again and good points for more money to come.

Next race will be more interesting and for sure more close to the reality of a race car on the track.

Good luck to everyone.

Any idea which Gr2 car for the next race could perform better than others?
Or do we just pick that one we find more comfortable with our driving style?

Well well, how many luck had turned with this race and especially on this TRACK to say the least!!!

GT3 - EMEA Region - 6PM GMT - Door #2 - 33 points available - Qualified 1st at Pole - Finished 1st (Podium Finish!) - TC2 - BB +5 - DUALSENSE 5 Controller

OK so for Round 5, I did some practice runs with the X2019 and found it quite skittish at first, but I perfected my lines and managed to refine my driving technique on Suzuka, which is a track I love alot for it's varying diffculty. Went into qualifying quite confident I could bash out a goodtime as the group looked decent in this C rated lobby. Lo and behold I end up coming out on Pole, was very chuffed. It gave me confidence to adopt a run and swish technique in the race.

Onto the Race, Good start I accelerated away fast to get to Turn 1 and not get rear-ended by the whole pack, I pushed away trying to gap a 2-3 sec lead on the competitiors and it was working as I was trying my best to stay super consistent in the opening laps. I adopted a strategy by @Hiponiak where he said 8RS>15RM>2RH Tyres and it seemed to work out nicely. I really had to preseve the RS tyres as best i could and by the time i got to lap 5-6 i was at least 10 secs ahead of the pack. Slowly steadily i started to increase the gap by a few more seconds, cracking a good 1:35:210 on a lap which was crazy!!!

Then pitted on Lap 8 to go over to the mediums. As I came out the P2 car, a french guy came whizzing past me and I chased him for 2 laps to regain 1st as he had to yet to pit. Back into 1st, I kept pushing harder on the RM tyres to gain a 20sec lead and then more folks kept spinning out and the gap increased. I started lapping people on laps 11-13 which was crazy! Then further down the race, On Lap 23 I pitted for the last time to switch to RH tyres and then finished strong in 1st place, no fastest lap but I didnt care as this Victory was oh so sweet after Round 4's abysmal performance lol, Bring on Round 6! A great penultimate round!!!

Only downside was I have no replay to share as space was not there to do so, boooo damn you PS5!!!
I had the sinking feeling the game would let me down again, as I felt the urge to record my Race live, oh well neverminds.

Photos here instead!!

I had decent enough hopes for this one but it went horribly wrong after a really tough day at work and made too many errors, couldn't focus. Q14 to P11 and we'll leave it at that. GT2 slot 6 Americas.

Side note, even being back in GT2 with 10 slots, a working schmuck like me can really only do 1 slot at 8pm on a weeknight, as I'm not home for slot 1 to 5 and by 9 it's pretty much too late to commit to slots 7 to 10. So slot 6 is really my only chance. Don't know if there is a solution to fit everyone, but I didn't mind the 1 chance format they tried back in GT Sport.

Well, that was as expected.

I suck at this car/track combo (try navigating esses with buttons). Starting on hards was my only option, so I deliberately did qualifying on hards, did not want to spoil anyone's race with slow car on hards in the mid-pack. Naturally ended last, 15th.

First laps I took easy, big dramas ahead, people dropping. I was 10th by lap 3. Went one more on hards (I eat tires, so cannot do 15 on mediums).
Medium stint started ok, at one point I was 8th after everyone made their first stop, but then errors snuck in.
Went wide and off track on the esses, lost few places. Then a backmarker caught up to me and spun me after exiting Spoon. That was it, spun few times, hit both walls, rejoined track limping, dead last.

Soft stint was nothing particular, eventually finished 13th (practically last after one left the race and other one lapped by the winner).

Lobby was low A/S, 160 points for the win, I had door 3 (), earned 80 points.

I didn't expect too much, but without those incidents I could maybe aim for top 8. But yeah, that's how it went and gotta live with it.

Let's see the last round...

Slot 1: Qualified 12th with a 1:34.4, when I was capable of at least a high 1:33 without mistakes. Obvious strategy was to start on Hards. My plan was to go 7H/11M/7S. The first lap started really well and I was inside the Top 10 before the Degners due to the expected start carnage. Unfortunately I soon became involved in the carnage myself, when the car in front of me punted the car in front of him and came to a dead stop in front of me, causing me to then hit him and giving me a 2s penalty. Back down to 12th I went after serving the penalty, but I soldiered on, and aside from 1 mistake where I ran wide at T1, the rest of my race was relatively uneventful. I stayed within sight of 2 cars in front of me through my Hard and Medium stints until their pit strategies put us out of sequence.

I lucked out and had a clear track to start my final stint on Softs, by which point I'd worked my way up to 7th, then "UnExPecTEd ErRoR" on Lap 20. I probably would've had to go again since anything less than a podium wouldn't have given me the points I wanted, but I was at least in a position to gain some DR back and move up a split. Instead now I lost more than I could possibly gain over the rest of the night.

Slot 2: The lost DR from my disconnect dropped me into yet another mixed DR split, divided perfectly between A and A+ with 8 each. The win was only worth 246 points, so this was a win-or-bust race for me; anything less than victory meant I was going to go again no matter what. Things got off to a decent start with a qualifying lap of a 1:33.88 putting me 3rd on the grid. This time I elected to start on Mediums because I wanted to try to avoid being run over by people on faster tires. Turns out I was the only one in the first 4 spots not starting on Hards. I stayed stuck behind 1st and 2nd for the opening lap, then the polesitter outbraked himself into T1, allowing me up into 2nd. Unfortunately one of the other Medium starters had gotten through the other Hard starters and was now breathing down my neck while I was stuck behind the leader who was still on Hards. I went for a move on the inside of 130R and took the lead, but wasn't able to fully clear them before the chicane, and they dove back up the inside to keep the spot, only to then spin their tires on exit and run wide, giving me the lead anyway. Now I had to defend into T1 because this had allowed the car behind to draw almost alongside me. Fortunately for me, 2nd-4th all collided at T1, with 2nd and 3rd both going off track and 4th (who'd now moved up to 2nd after the others went off) having aero and suspension damage.
Suzuka Circuit__4.webp

This allowed me to open up a gap of over a second in just 1 lap, and for the rest of my stint I slowly walked away from 2nd, ultimately growing the lead to 4.5s.

I stayed out until Lap 13 - 2 laps longer than I'd planned to run my Mediums - to avoid pitting into traffic. It worked and I came out of the pits in 2nd with no one immediately in front of me to hold me up - not that they would've held me up much, since I was on Hards. 2nd place had also pitted with me and came out in 3rd, but chose to bolt on Softs. Within a lap they were all over me and went around the outside at the end of the esses.

By now, the polesitter, who'd long since ditched their Hards and was running Mediums, finally caught back up to me, but couldn't get past since their Mediums were now pretty worn. They pitted on Lap 15 to take Softs the rest of the way. I knew they'd undercut me and I'd have to re-pass both them and the current leader, but I knew the leader would have to still use their Hard tires when I'd be on my Softs, and 2nd would have dead Softs at the end of the race, which would still give me a chance to catch both. I stuck to my plan to run 7 laps on Softs at the end and pitted on Lap 18, and unfortunately my plan wouldn't be so straightforward, as I came out of the pits in 4th, right behind another car on worn Softs. Thankfully I didn't get held up much and was able to send it down the inside at Spoon.

I now had a 7.5s gap to the polesitter and person I knew I'd be fighting for the win, so I set about chasing him down and also trying to get the gap to the leader under 16s in the hopes that I could pass them in the pits when they changed to Hard tires, rather than having to waste time passing them on track. The leader pitted before I could undercut them though, so I did have to pass them on track, but surprisingly they made it very easy and slowed on the front straight to give me the spot; they did hold me up just enough that I couldn't get fastest lap though.
Suzuka Circuit_.webp

The gap to polesitter and current leader was now under 5s with 4 laps left, but I was now doing 2s/lap faster than they were with their dead Soft tires. I finally caught them on Lap 24 and went for another dive into Spoon to grab the lead and won by 3s, with the polesitter actually eventually falling to 3rd and losing nearly 9s on the last lap alone when he had 4 almost 100% worn Softs.

No need to risk trying for a better result in Slot 3 and getting another "UnExPecTEd ErRoR". That makes 2 wins from 2 X2019 races (though both each took 2 attempts...). Too bad my night was still a net DR loss though...

It's weird, this is my fifth race in the B-level driver slot, and my fifth time finishing eighth, S-Stability! :D

Overall, it was an unremarkable race, except that I got into trouble three times when I tried to let faster drivers on fresh tires pass. For example, after the Spoon turn, before 130R, I turned on my right turn signal and eased off the throttle to let someone pass, but I got hit in the rear bumper. Clearly, he was trying to catch a slipstream and wasn't expecting it, and it must have been difficult to see the turn signal and understand what I meant.

So, my question is, do you have a special way to signal "I'm letting you pass"?
Any idea which Gr2 car for the next race could perform better than others?
Or do we just pick that one we find more comfortable with our driving style?
Previously, I always looked at the leaderboard and chose their car. But at one point, I decided to try a car from the top twenty, but not the one most people were choosing, and I was able to drive faster. So, yes, just because the top drivers have the fastest time in a car doesn't mean you'll be able to drive it well.

I think this is even more true in my case, since most people drive with a steering wheel, while I use a controller, and one with a gyroscope, so my driving style is quite different. For example, yesterday in qualifying, the best time was 1:35.5, and my time was 1:37.0. Only after the second sector, before the hairpin, I was 0.5 seconds ahead of the best time. Without making any major mistakes, I lose two seconds simply because I don't know how to take certain corners.

There are 11 cars waiting for us on Saturday, and I can’t imagine how we’ll manage to try them all.

I started testing cars for this final round at Fuji on the weekend. Here's how things are looking for me so far.

I've only tried the four newest cars (Audi RS 5 '19, Honda NSX '16, Nissan GT-R '16, and Lexus RC F '16). I found I could make the softs last 12 laps in these cars, so that's what I tested . For the mediums, I did 15-lap tests. Most of the cars have only had one round of tests so far. The only one that I've done a second round in is the Honda.

The weather settings I used were Late Morning S05, which doesn't match the Afternoon S06 that GT-Engine says we're getting, but I'm hoping it isn't too far off.

Thx Moose78, as always helpful stuff!
I think I'll go with Nissan or Lexus, Honda is not clicking for me. After few moring tests I have 1:30:378 with Nissan and it's less slippery than Lexus. I tried also Audi, pretty solid handling and it has this DPS feature. Do you use it all the time on straights or not? Saw one replay from JP guy and he's. Wonder what time difference is with using and without? I have it under L1 and not very comfy especially when it comes to breaking. Ofc I can remap it but wonder if bother with it at all.

When you write "Tire tread levels at finish," do you mean the remaining tread or how much was used?

If you're specifically referring to the remaining tread, which is consistent with your wording and logic, then it seems to me the Audi is definitely the best, but still untamed, tool in your hands. I'd venture to guess that your first time on the track was with the Audi on soft tires; there are too big jumps between good and bad laps, which isn't the case with medium tires.

The only reason I don't like Audi is the DRS, it's also hard for me to turn it on, constantly remembering about it and it always + a small amount of risk to press it too early and exit the corner poorly.

Human drama:

I broadly agree, and most of these are worse than the ones they were zeroing people for (the Urra/Suzuka/TGRGT one is still the pinnacle of "why" disqualifications)... but this lot wouldn't even register in GT2/3 League lobbies. The four combined nudges across three rounds would just be one normal lap in any given race.

It's all well and good complaining about it with qualification on the line and when it affects you - and yes, it absolutely should be flagged especially given the DSQs and the race manipulation (which a wingman is) bans - but I personally think that all players at all levels deserve not to have their leisure time ruined by ****splats, and either this is bad anywhere or it's fine anywhere. The one thing it can't be is fine for us and bad for them.

One of the guys joining in highlighting the issue is one of those banned (for not even a week, and in effect from Manufacturers only) for race manipulation last year...

Edit: Yeah. Make of this what you will...

Yep. I'm definitely using the DRS feature on the straights. I also have it mapped to the L1 button, but I'm using analog sticks for acceleration/braking and L2 for downshifting. It seems to be fine that way, though. If I'm braking or downshifting, I want the extra downforce from the DRS being disabled, so I just let go of the button as I get to the braking zone.
When you write "Tire tread levels at finish," do you mean the remaining tread or how much was used?
The amount of tread left at the end of test. If it says 10%, that means it has burned through 90% of the tread.

Yeah. I struggle with consistency in all the cars at this track on RS tires. Another round of testing would probably smooth out some of the noise, but I don't know how much more time I'm going to devote to testing versus practice. Not sure if it is worth the trouble.
