I expected this would be a war of attrition given the unpredictable weather and the unforgiving nature of Nür’s limits. Starting in P8, the race started dry but clouds hung over us foretelling what was to come. I pulled through a couple of melees to get as high as P4 but a few overly eager turn-ins cost me pace and positions over lap 1. Somewhere near Adenour on lap 2, I placed the passenger front on the grass leading to a full spin, dropping back to P9.

With the rain coming in and blue showing on the radar, I pitted at the end of lap 2 for Intermediates. This at first seemed a horrible mistake because the rain settled only on the first half of the track while the last half was bone dry. I nursed the tires delicately through the dry hoping they would last.

But the payoff came during lap 4 when my competitors in front and behind started dropping like flies. Inexplicably, they had all decided to stay on racing hards! One after another would spin, ragequit or get blown past by me until I was all alone in P4 with a 20 second cushion behind me.

I had to relent for another pit on last lap with the IM burned up on the drier back half, but this time the rain was coming in strong so I was confident one last IM would bring it home.

The finish in P4 was on strategy and not pure driving skill. Still, this was a great capstone to a successful GT3 season with my recent promotion to DR B cemented. Great to drive this French beast through the season.

Hey fellas. This season has been challenging on many levels. Firstly, recovering from abdominal surgery has been a challenge. But I'm happy to say I'm about 90% back to my old self.

It made the start of this season, physically tough, but at the same time playing GT7 actually helped me heal. As each race was a mini workout.

Slot 1 GT1 League A+, 254 points for the winner
Q: P5 (8:02.242) F: P2 (243 points)

I chose team Renault based on this exact combo. Because I know the RS.01 loves Nurb, rain or dry!

Working with a Ferrari driver for 5 dry laps, we managed to claw away from the chasing pack and create put own little bubble. If it wasn't for me hitting the barrier on lap 3 at Hatzenbach, I'm pretty sure I could have won this race. I ended up passing the Ferrari at the end of The Dottinger Hohe on the last lap, to take P2 and a season best 243 points!

A great way to end a very demanding season. Hope you all had great results. No nations for me. I'll be travelling this summer with the family. The final stage of my rehabilitation.

I finished Just outside the top 100 and second overall in EMEA for Renault. Happy to be one of the best drivers for Renault, for a few seasons now.

I've attached the race if anyone wants to have a peek. Have a great summer guys!

No rain, that was a bit of a disappointment, but ended p2 so I will not complain too much! Only one big mistake a the Mutkurve that made me lose 4 seconds and lost the opportunity to battle for p1. But to be fair Mutkurve also granted me p2 after the car in front made the very same mistake one lap before, only with worse consequences. Finished 1.2 seconds from p1, great race anyway.

Was a bit concerned as had little practice but quite familiar with the green hell so went straight in. Qualified 8th after a couple of small mistakes but looking at my usual lap times vs. The qualifying times I knew 4th was in reach. Race was totally dry, strategy was to know I'm not the fastest but keep it clean and it worked well.

Avoided the first lap carnage and found myself running 3rd in a battle with 4th, swapping places with the leader a long way ahead. The battle was really clean until lap 3, which is when I wanted to pit, but the driver 4th was pitside of me and didn't let me pit as well as me not wanting to basically stop to turn in there. So we both had to do an extra unwanted lap.

The driver 4th was extremely pissed at this and tried to kill me going into that tight downhill right hand shortcut corner on the Nurburgring GP but got it wrong and wrecked themselves and left.

The leader came out of the pits just ahead and I decided to try and hang with them on my worn hards as thought it would give my best chance of holding 3rd. I thought it worked well as over the entire lap I only lost 2.5 secs to them but the guy now in 4th in a 296 who got wrecked & lap 1 penalty was pulling fast laps, 8:05's vs my 8:12's, so when I came in lap 4 I came out in 4th by some distance. Was about 5 seconds behind 3rd and 5 ahead of 5th and just brought it home for a mighty 60 points 😂

Another season of Manu Cup done.

In North America GT2, I ranked 5th for Chevrolet and 1st for Alfa. Not bad. I probably would have placed even better in Chevy had it not been for the new top-split bonus. I suppose that also goes for my overall standings as well.

All-in-all, a fun season. Decent races, even if some of them were repeats. A mix of Gr.3 and Gr.4 races. Some strategy. Some weather. Only one sprint race.

The highlight for me, of course, was my double-win day at Sardegna. I don't expect I'll ever see that happen again.

I've now done Manu Cup seasons with 15 manufacturers. Only 12 left to go. Going by my usual criteria of the least popular manufacturers in Canada that I haven't used yet, I've got a few options for next season. Lexus was only used by 4 Canadian drivers this season, so it's a shoe-in. But in next place, there were three manufacturers that were tied with 9 drivers: Genesis, Honda, and Nissan. Since Lexus only has FR cars, I'm inclined to go with the MR cars of Honda as my second pick to get a mix of drivetrains. I suppose I have some time yet to decide.

I'm kind of surprised we haven't seen a Nations Cup season announced yet. Maybe that will come this week. I'm hoping that since this is an exhibition season that we'll see some more variety in combos than we did in the downforce-heavy qualifying season. I guess we'll see.

Cheers to everybody who raced this season and came here to chat about it. It's been a blast, as always.

Another season done and very happy with my results:

For some reason it says that my sr is A+ a not S?
Good season overall and I think it highlighted my need to get better with GR4 cars, being my worst scoring rounds.
Round 1 although only 92 points, was a very good result (won the race) but it wasn’t considered the top split of gt2 so no bonus 100 points…

Thanks to everyone here on this forum, especially @Moose78 for the tire strategy in multiple rounds which ultimately gave me the win in round 1.

For next manufacturer exebition season, would you guys like to have a weekend preview? I’m thinking of doing a bit of a track analysis and highlighting the place that could cause issues in the race (special pit entries, main overtaking zones, curbs to watch out for, etc…). Let’s me know if it is something you would like to see and I’ll do my best to help everyone with their race weekends.

GTWS RD.6 - NURBURG ENDURANCE - C LOBBY - JAG F-TYPE gr.3 - 7pm slot (UK) - Qualified 12th - Finished 11th

Oh lordyyy what an annoying last race but no fault but my own!!

I ran into the last round thinking of this Nurburg race being a wetfest. All radars pointed to it after testing and qualifying, but not a single drop of RAIN!! Dammit! I made the unfortunate mistake of using Inters to start my race, but the whole race ended up being dry. During the qualifying and the 1st lap of the actual race, I had an idiot driver, maybe a dutch guy in an Scooby BRZ playing bumpers cars with me down the straights and the opening nurburg corners like he has no idea of track presence or Radar!

Then my tyres died on me on lap 2 and I forgot to change my brake balance to save them. But regardlesss, I planned for a wet one got a dry one and spun out on lap 2. Was playing catchup in low ranked lobby and managed to finish 11th overall in this long ass race.
Not my best race tbh as i prefer the alternate layout of Nurburg 24h more, but glad others enjoyed it! Scrounged some points up but shudda tried it again but felt too tired.

I wish I made a more better decision as my JAG had a really good pace on this course. Oh well next time, will post my overall championship results later on today!

Five races across three different accounts. I didn’t get a whole lot of practice on this one, but no matter being that I already decided with dynamic weather I was going to opt for my 458 - this is my favorite track with my favorite car, my pace is my pace, and I couldn’t seem to get faster than a 7:59 in free practice, with me hitting 8:00.xxx in every single race qualifying session. I’ll take it

First race was the oceanic last slot. This race fell apart quickly as I got bounced around on the first lap (this will be an ongoing theme), then caught out with unforced errors during my wet stint. Finished a distant 9th.

First and second EMEA slots were awesome! Both were 270ishpoimg lobbies, both had me qualifying 4th getting shuffled back out of the top 10, and clawing my way back to a 5th and 4th place. Great fun

First Americas race, I bottom-doored my way into a 375 point lobby, which is usually a tick or two above my normal jam. Qualified 6th with a predictable 8:00.xxx….. so I at least kind of felt like I belonged. Apparently, the lobby regulars didn’t feel the same, as I got banged around and shuffled backwards right off the bat, clawed my way back to 5th or something on lap 2, only to throw it away towards the end of L2 in the sector before the final carousel. Got a few penalties to boot. Finished 9th

Wanting redemption, and feeling I could hang, I was excited for slot 2 as I already had it in my mind this would be my last go of the day. Must’ve lost some SR in the first slot, as I found myself seeded near the top of a 275 point lobby. Q’d 4th or 5th with a diesel engine-like 8:00.xxx, and then as per usual, had to deal with the first lap GP circuit melee. I’m pretty damn sure I net-code-rear-ended a poor Sap on the chicane exiting the GP course into the Nordschlief, but that netted me a 5 second penalty, putting me firmly in the rear, and had me fighting the back of the pack the rest of the race. Finished pretty distant in the pack, but enjoyed some fun battles throughout.

*** The consistent head-hanging in both races was very indicative of how I was feeling at the time. The funny mannerisms that VR captures 😂

Wow! That's a quick turnover! Looks like I'll be able to get a round in before I go on holiday!
Happy that PD have listened to the community about providing more exhibition championships, during the world tour. It makes a such a difference to player engagement. The No Chicane layout of Le Mans really compliments the speed of the Group C monsters.

Thanks for another great season! I always enjoy preparing for races with you and reading the race reports along the way 😊
This season I have been able to compete at the top of GR2 and I have become fond of the Beetle. Moving forward I hope to keep my place in DR A and try my luck in GR1 for the coming events.

Nations looks good!

Not a bad mix of races for this Nations Cup. At least we have a few rounds with road cars. I have to say, Laguna Seca in the F3500-A sounds absolutely insane. That is sure to be full of carnage.

For this first round, the tire multiplier is 4x on RM tires. Is it even possible to go 12 laps without a tire change at Le Mans? I feel like the strategy options are going to be pretty limited: 6 laps give or take with a tire change. I've got some testing to do, though.

There is a mandatory pit stop required. I've done no testing and can confidently say it'd be worth the extra 4-5 seconds to get new tires. Maybe it'll all be moot and there will be rain. Would be cool.

As much as I like Gr3 I don't like seeing them in the Nations; that's what Manu is for. Nations should be a place to use any of the other hundreds of cars in the game. Speaking of using other cars... X2019 again... at GVH1 Reverse again. The other races don't seem too bad; at least they're fresh.

Wasn't expecting the nations to start so soon, glad to see they're keeping the weekly slots.

Looks like rain is an option for Round 1, haven't got anything in practice that's actually required IM yet but should keep it interesting

I just did a 12-lap stint at Le Mans in Free Practice. This is looking to be a very interesting race. Dynamic weather and a day-to-night-to-day transition. A virtual 24 hour of Le Mans, it seems.

In my session, I had heavy rain until mid-way through lap 4, just as the sun was setting and the track fell into the darkness. The rain ended with a sharp line on the radar. The track dried very slowly, probably because mine was the only car on the track. A dry line eventually started to appear. I pitted onto RM tires from Ws at the end of lap 9. The track never fully dried out for me, but along the dry line it stayed below the first tick, so it didn't really affect my ability to get around the track.

Afterwards, I entered and exited the track a few times to check the weather pattern. It was different every time, but there was always a sharp line where the rain ended approaching from the distance. It took quite a few my tries to get a session where it wasn't raining from the start, but I did eventually see some.

To me, it looks like the pattern for the weather is to start wet (ranging from none to heavy) and finish dry.

I'm not sure how I'm going to go about selecting a car for this. In theory I could run 4-6 laps in three weather conditions -- heavy rain on Ws, moderate rain on IMs, and dry on RMs -- but multiplying that out across five cars and doing my usual 2 runs per test... well, it just feels like more trouble than it's worth. And how would I even use that information to pick a car?

The aliens on the leader board seem to be gravitating towards the Mercedes.

I did my long test session in the Nissan, but I tried out Mercedes quickly afterwards. One very noticeable difference between the two is the top speed on the long straight. I was hitting 338 km/h in the Nissan, but only 327 km/h in the Mercedes. My best time so far is in the Nissan with a 3:17.4. I was about a second slower in the Mercedes.

Hey main man Moose. Great observations. Can I just add that fuel saving could actually be a thing in this round. I went for the Porsche in free TT and I managed to hit 2:13.9xx The Porsche curves are completely different in the 3 main cars with the Nissan being the slowest in the infield but fastest on the straights and the Merc being rhe fastest on the infield but slowest in the straights. The Porsche sits somewhere between the 2.

In Race conditions I raced the Porsche in a practice lobby and when it came to the pitstop the Nissan behind me had 53 litres of fuel left and I had 41. By the time we changed tyres he had gained 6 seconds on me by not having to refuel. I was gunning the Porsche for 6 laps and didn't realise the effect it would have on my fuel. The race was completely dry, so that may have been a factor in how much fuel I went through, so quickly.

So just a word of warning. A rain race could well nullify the fuel usage but it's something to be aware of. I'm sure you'll find this out in your tests, which I look forward to analysing.

I noticed the weather is different every practice. Even had one start dry not a drop of rain all 12 laps.

Curse them for running this now! Only realised yesterday they've changed the rounds to weekly. Had to squeeze some testing\ practice last night inbetween real life hyperpole quali. Will have to do gt7 race tomorrow morning before the race proper!

Did a lobby run in 962. Which is so nice to drive but get past on Mulssane by Nissans as if I have handbrake stuck on, as mentioned - 5mph difference top speed.

Switched to Nissan, not an easy drive : balance and bone shaker. Had to crank down controller torque on wheel to minimum, as was shaking my fillings out.

In Porsche I pitted after lap7 and put 5.8laps worth of fuel and only just managed 12laps, not an issue in Nissan. So it's quicker and more efficient, just harder to drive.

Also a revelation for VR...free app 'GT7 race engineer', works a treat.

Have to run with an earphone out to hear, so will need to investigate how to mix two audio feeds

I recommend for none vr users too.

Whatever happens, try to avoid qualifying in 13th.

1000012716.webp

Not a fun starting point.

Finished 7th after an eventful first few laps, including being punted off by someone who doesn't understand bump drafting.

We didn't get any rain at all either so I'm not going again to risk it.

178 points is also my highest ever points received in a GTWS event.

GT2 EMEA 1st Slot high B/S Lobby 3 on the doors

Must have got myself into top GT2 split as 246 points up for grabs. Really enjoyed driving the Porsche but thought the lack of straight line speed would kill my race so went for the Nissan as that seemed to have a good mix of straight line and corner speed. Quite a mixed grid as well, looks like the BoP was well sorted for this one. Qualifying was dry, but I managed to pick up a 1s penalty but still managed to get 6th on the grid - assume other people picked up penalties as well and some didn't even put in a time.

Pre race rain radar showed lots of rain, but the start of the race would only get the tail end of a light blue section so stuck with the RM. Was definitely the right choice, track was pretty much dry and anyone on IM had to pit on Lap 1. Up to P4 as the IM runners couldn't keep up in the corners. P3 and I were a similar pace so started bump drafting (Bump drafting at night in these cars is quite an experience!) to try and catch P1 and P2 as they had gone off into the distance. P3 then spun on the last chicane leaving me all lonely in P3.

Pitted on Lap 7, didn't need any fuel then as I came out the car that had spun in front of me went past, so they must have been driving the wheels off. Down to 4th the car behind catches on the straight but doesn't go for the bump draft despite 3rd not being too far away. Go for an aggressive overtake into Indianapolis as they've shown they don't want to work together and have to start catching P3 on my own. Nearly had them on the last chicane of the last lap but couldn't quite get to them.

5 people DNF'd as well, without any rain so worth holding on in the race even if at the back.

P4 for for 228 points is very welcome so won't go again, but think a bit of rain would have been interesting. Good luck everyone!

It's been a time since I do nations cup, I saw European players racing in the morning but my races are in the evening 8 pm, did the system change in GT7?

Yeah. In the GT1 league -- DR A and A+ -- there are only three slots for each round now, scheduled in the evenings in most regions. In the GT2 and GT3 leagues, there are a lot more slots, starting earlier in the day.

1st race completely dry, didn't have enough time to change from wets, did 10 laps on med and they were 100% red even with a lot of coasting - last #14 pos

2nd ..it rained on around lap3 for 4 laps, tried to brave it out, which didn't go too well, finished 8th (mostly due to quitters)

3rd ...full dry race. finished 4th. Got pipped to podium last lap, didn't trust the guy, pretty sure I'd seen him get penalties early on , so didn't put up much of a fight..

Now time to settle in for the race propper!😁

Had an interesting one. Took a cautious qualifying lap to be p8 of 12 in the only Mazda. Saw rain coming so started on IMs. Was p4 and coasting still lap 1 when I locked up the brakes at Indy and took over 10 seconds to get out of the sand. Dropped to p11.

Was climbing back up and spent 2 laps bump drafting some guy when he pulled a sneaky move tot get me reset on The main straight on lap 5. Back to p10 again. Then didn't pit for slicks until after lap 7. Saw several who pitted on lap 6 lose it when they couldn't stay on the dry line and almost did it myself. Couple of disconnects, rage quits and passes and still ended up p4.

Oh what could have been. But a fun race combo. I love it.

I would love to know what the heck PD are doing.
Nations Cup Race to day... the server goes bonkers, 2 car in front enter a time warp and then the server crashes.
Second Race... qualify in 4th, have a great race, came home in 2nd place with fastest lap.
Check my DR after the race and I have LOST 1273 pts!

What the heck is going on? That is just so stupid, so dumb, I am lost for words. Someone, please tell me how this happens. Am I getting penalised for quitting the first race when the server crashed? And what about points for my good result in race two?
This is just astounding.

Coming last is better than quitting a race. Even if the server crashes, you still get a bill in DR points. Which you'll pay for once you log on again.
