Ok, I'm posting this thread because I'm having serious problems with the mission "Russian Revolution".

When you finally kill all of Bulgarin's men, are you supposed to go out the door where the cops are, or is there another exit? If I manage to survive that far, I'm that low on health that the cops have an easy time picking me off and if I try to jack a cop car, Little Jacob is too slow to join me and the cops arrest me.

Oh yeah, and the reason I fail half the time is because when I put Niko into cover behind one of the pillars, half of the time he tries to pick off a bad guy from cover, he ends up just blasting holes in the pillar he's standing behind, and I end up just having to run out of cover and pick off a few bad guys before diving back into cover, and I get shot of loads of time when I do that.

Anyone have any good tips? I'm going into the mission full of health and body armour, with a shotgun, handgun and submachine gun, all with plenty of ammo.

I did this mission first time but I had to be really patient when inside the building. I had to wait for them to pop out and pick them off gradually.

Once you've killed the people inside you'll see that the police are waiting outside the exit. Jacob doesn't do too much at this point. I had a molotov cocktail on me which I threw out into the police cars and that took a few of the police out. There was only one left which I finished off and then stole the police car. You'll come out with two stars although it's easy to lose them after that.

Maybe I should just take it slower then. The first time I failed was because Jacob got killed, so I thought maybe I should take out the goons instead of letting him do it, but that either gets me killed or so low on health I can't deal with the cops.

I'll try it again.

This mission took me two times to complete. First time I had the same problems as you did, Kieran... but as mark said, it's really all about getting the timing right. Btw, the molotov cocktail is located in a small room to the right of the warehouse, as you enter. 👍

Ok! I picked my way slowly through the goons, and then flung a couple of molotovs through the door at the cops, jacked the car and successfully lost the wanted level and dropped Jacob back at the cafe.

I also discovered there's a first aid kit in in the glassed off room near the molotov so I was able to refill my health before going outside to confront the cops.

Thanks for the help.

I just picked them all off one by one, by this stage i was getting to grips with the aiming systems. I think i failed it once... Eitherway once the cops were coming it was easy as i just got all the weapons off the ground then jacked a car. I suggest that you learn the cover system and aiming system well, because it makes shootouts so much easier once you learn it. Plus having a good weapon helps. Shotgun for close range, uzi for medium range and pistol is always a good ole backup.

Yup, I just failed a mission where I had to bust into a warehouse of drug dealers and kill them. Running in blasting away was the WRONG way to do it. Hang at the door and shoot from cover I bet will work much better. I'm still coming to grips with the cover system, I'm still used to running in all guns blazing. I bet it'll be crucial for future missions.

I scrolled down to avoid spoilers but thought I'd throw this out there again (like I did for SA)

IMO we should break down the help threads to the areas of the game-- first islands, 2nd, etc... that way after I finish the first island I can help others without accidentally getting spoilers from later in the game...

Or we can just do it by individual missions as the traffic here doesn't seem real bad at this time.

I think I've only done about 6 or 7 missions so far-- going to be a while for me to get through the game this time... I have less time to play then most of you I'm sure :( -- looks like I will be foregoing sleep to play..

Yeah it's taking me a while to get used to the cover system, but you really gotta use it to pass the missions.

Snow Storm is hard... Failed 6 times..

But got it now.. Its also caused me to go from 3,000 in hospital fees to 23,000 :(

If there's a mod handy, they can feel free to rename this thread GTAIV Mission Help - First Island or something like that. Does Jimmy still hang around these forums - he's still listed as a moderator?

Haven't seen Jimmy around in forever-- his last action I know of was to swap the SA recordbook control over to Blake....

I nominate KM as Mod-- not that we need much moderating around here...

//edit//

According to his profile "Jimmy" (actual name is Matt)-- was online yesterday. He is a "global moderator" now... he doesn't have time for us anymore :(

You can change the thread title yourself, I think. I know Premium members can do it.

Done! I'm a member of a couple of forums where only mods can edit thread titles - didn't realise you could edit your own thread titles here.

Not a mission, but does anyone know how to get in Roman's cab as a passenger? If I press triangle I just end up hijacking it.

You first gotta get the message that he "really likes you," then if you select his name on your phone and hit "car service" he'll tell you if he can send a cab. Then you hold triangle to get in the cab as a passenger, just like with the yellow cabs.

Roman's cabs are free, and the drivers don't seem to like that too much. You can only call once every few "hours" (minutes in real time) though.

Oh, I knew all of that except holding triangle. I thought I just had to press it.

Anyone know how the HELL you're supposed to beat Dwayne's mission in the Strip Club? What a pain in the ass. I've died like 5 times now.

I can't kill the managers without getting wasted by the guards, and I can't take cover anywhere because the guards come and pistol whip me to death and/or the managers run away.

What i did just now..

I had an assult rifle with full health armour.. go to the very back of the club where the private rooms are and then shoot those guys and work your way out. Take cover once your out into the open and just pick off all the guards and stuff. Then focus on the managers, then once outside shoot him through the window of the truck or at least shoot the tyres so you can easily catch him.

Alright, none of that works because the guards can penetrate the siding on the railing.

But, I just beat it by shooting the bouncer outside and then running in and firing a few off. I ran back out and waited for the managers to bail so that I could just chase them down in the car without getting in a gunfight.

I've failed that one a few times as well and gave up. I wonder if running and throwing a few grenades or Molotovs and exiting would help clear the place out before going back in.

i didnt find it that hard.... weird..

well ive done 50 missions and unlocked the 3rd island but havnt visited it yet.
BTW when you become friends with Jacob and Brucie
Jacob allows you to buy cheap weapons, and Bruice flys you across the city to various points in his helicopter
Ive just started becoming friends with Packie, so once i get that upto about 80% i see what he does for me....

There was actually a MUCH easier way. Start with the manager in the back, and you'll only have to take 1 guy at the top of the stairs, and the guy who says Jesus is "test driving". Kill Jesus, and wait for it to say the managers are escaping. Then, just run out the back door, and go around to the parking lot. They run stupidly slow, so you should be able to pick 'em off.

Back door was always locked for me, even after I killed Jesus. That's why I had to try it like 5 times before I just decided to not go in in the first place.

Yeah, it usually is, but it becomes unlocked when you get the Managers are Escaping message.

When you call brucie, go down in the options on your phone to Heli ride... he has his own personal chopper. you fly the heli to certain points and then fly back. So much easier than muckin around with taking him to darts or a bar or something.

Patients is the key. I finished the last level today. When ever you are in those situations where you gotta kill a bunch of people indoors, take it slow.

How do i do Stevies car list? Brucies friend. When i go to the mana near the burgershot place a txt came up saying it was brucies car, and yet i had no where to take it. so i saved it in a car space and continued on with other missions, now i hope back in it and nothing... So i go to the burger shot and get a new one and nothing...

What exactly are you suppose to do?

I completed a mission for either Phil Bell or Jimmy Pelogrino (or was it the first mission for that junkie McReary in Alderney?) and when it was over I got a call from Brucie about how his mate Stevie who we got the Comet off was looking for my help. The result of the conversation was that Niko agreed to steal cars for Stevie who would text him the car he wants along with a photo and the area you could find it in.

There's a garage in Bohan you then have to deliver them to. Each time you successfully deliver a car you get paid and then some time later Stevie will text you the next car he wants
