I've recently run two enduros on a couple free evenings. First up was the Grand Valley 300k. After auditioning several cars, I settled on the stock BMW M3 GTR racecar. R1 tires and a little reduction in rear wing netted me 81 A-spec points.

I started in 6th place, smoking the cold hard rears at the launch. However, once the car hooked up, I caught the pack and tucked in behind one of the Opel touring cars, passing for 5th at the exit from the Big Hair Pin. Throughout the esses over the first small hill I pressured the other Opel and the Pennzoil Skyline, then made a somewhat divebombing pass for 3rd position leading downhill to the Little Hair Pin. I began chasing down the Au Cerumo Supra and the Pitwork Z, nabbing second from the Supra under braking for the Big Hair Pin on the second lap. I took the lead from the Pitwork Z with a righteous pass after the last tunnel on lap 2. He continued to pressure me, though, and I would never shake totally clear of him.

I didn't think the R1s would remain effective through 15 laps so I pitted after 12, opting for a 5-stint strategy to the Pitworks's 4. In the pits I fell back to 3rd place and had to work my past the Supra and the Z again. This basic scenario replayed for my pits on 24 and 36, though the Supra fell off the pace fairly early on. It was really a long-distance duel between the Z and I. I could make up good time on the front half of the course, but I gave some up on the back half.

Twice during my middle stints I had spins or big slides, either from moments of innattentiveness or from pushing too hard to regain position after a pit. Nonetheless, during my 3rd pit I did not lose the lead, and gained as high as 40 seconds on the Pitwork car. However, I needed one more pit stop than he to finish out the race. Between that extra stop, lap traffic, and yet another self-induced tankslapper on the downhill run to the Little Hair Pin, I gave back a substantial portion of the lead.

I crossed the line at lap 60 with 15.455" between me and the following Pitowrk Z, winning an unexpected 400 kcr and an underwhelming (albeit cool) Audi streamliner. Overall it was a very enjoyable race, and without my own errors, I'd have had an MOV of about 40 seconds.

BMW M3 GTR racecar in the GV300:
Total ET: 1h:56':52.877"
MOV: 15.455" Motul Pitwork Z
Fast Lap: 1':52.179"
Avg Lap: 1':56.880" including pits

ive tryed that race before with the xanix or watevea its called and the Z always overtook me for first and it wouldnt stop i evently got far enogh to win that with a good 40 second lead :)

Very cool, Duke. I have one of those M3 tourers, too; i tried it in the Pro-league Tuner's Car Championship and it was overkill there, but i wanna put it in a more challenging race.

WHen i did the GV300 a few months back, i noticed how intense this enduro has become. In previous GT's, the Ai would occasionally screw up (especially sliding into that first hairpin) but in GT4 you gotta have your game on for sure cuz the Ai doesn't mess around anymore!

I assume it was pretty built?

For some stupid reason I don't like to run street cars against race cars (or vice versa). If one car has stickers, they should all have stickers. Although it's not technically a race car, and it was an enjoyable race, it bothered me to run the Opera S2000 against street cars in the NY200.

In my case, i often have to run steet cars against race cars!!! Everytime i try and use a race car in GT4, i wind up crushing!!

I do attach wings of course...:nervous:

that is the same as me in these cases...the Evo VIII is running about 564hp with racing wing and racing tyres

That's why I'm glad that GT4 has several different tiers of race cars - you can still run a racer that doesn't crush the opponents. GT300s vs. 500s, etc.

I really really wish there was a venue for the pocket racers like the Showroom Stock/IT style MMR racer, Fit racer, Lupo Cup racer, etc. I'd spend a lot of time there.

Very true. I got so bored driving my Oreca Viper in GT3 sometimes...i'm so glad they let you hop up a dealer's car instead now. +rep Polyphony Digital!

There isn't one? that kinda sucks.

I've enjoyed doing the Grand Valley Endurance races since GT1 ... was a bit miffed by the choice of prize car for this one though :grumpy:

Yeah but he won with a 15-second lead, which in a 60 lap race can be considered somewhat close...he didnt' lap the 2nd place car several times like so many idiots with overkill cars.
