Okay, so i actually forgot the notes i had written out for this challenge at home. I'll try to keep this as short as possible so that you guys and gals, can get out there and have fun driving! The guidelines are as follow:

Track: GRAND VALLEY EAST

1) Road vehicles only. This includes both production and concept models.
2) Tires are restricted to "N" tires :scared:. So you can use either N1, N2, or N3 tires.
3) Only modification NOT allowed is Nitrous. Anything else is permissible.
4) Must keep standard OLR guidelines, which state that at least TWO wheels on the track at all times! Yes, thats right! TWO WHEELS. Don't hit the walls; however, cones are okay to knock down since it doesn't make a difference anyways. lol
5) Post your times like this: Time/Vehicle/HP/Weight/Tires/SN
6) Have fun! :sly:

If you have any further questions, just post them here! enjoy.

I think this could be just what I've been looking for... Who wants to start out with a tuner shoot out?
Say, I'll go run a Supra and someone can run a Skyline? :sly:
That should establish a good benchmark. I'm thinking this is going to be where the Mine's is really fast and 500HP will be plenty fun. Ah, that's it, the Mine's .vs. the Amuse (not in game but the famous Amuse Supra in white). Torque battle from best motoring (or was it a "best 6..."?).

Any way, back shortly with some times. :D

PS. I must admit, I strongly disagree with allowing 3 wheels off. 👎

Kent

:sly:

I'll drive the skyline, I get the car setup tonite.(can't drive though untill I get a new DFP because my last one died:()

I don't care if it's 2 or 3, but with this track I don't think it will be a problem.

i'll post my times tonight because i dont have the times here at work.

*EDIT* okay, i'll stick with OLR. okay everyone! 2 wheels

PS. I must admit, I strongly disagree with allowing 3 wheels off. 👎

I agree with Kent. If you want drivers to take your challenge seriously, I personaly would stick to standrard OLR rules and go with the usual two wheels off track. 👍

Sphinx,
Agreed. 👍

Alrivers, thanks for considering the words Sphinx and I have to offer.

Also,
I drove a Supra RZ at Stage 3 with 540+ hp and 2.3 pwr.
Don't know the exacts and the time will come down so this isn't an official submission. That said, 1'08.006.
Ran the Mine's Skyline as well. Pretty much stock except tires and oil were both changed (as well as all the non-power modifiers). Instantly ran down into the 1'06 range (630hp & 2.0pwr).

No contest with the Supra vs Skyline comparison, the grip difference between the two is very apparent when using N tires.
Now it's just a matter of whether or not the Evo and Impreza will put up a fight for the Skyline. :trouble:

I also ran a 3.2 pwr MR-S tuner at 274hp. Very fun but not even close to the same league as those torque monsters. On that note, I'd like to offer another match up... FF shootout at pretty much any tuning level. 280hp shootout with any car allowed by the rules.

Both will be interesting for people who like high revs and amazing handling. 👍

k, here are those times I promised:

1'05.739/BMW M3 CSL '03/472HP/1191kg/N3
1'06.343/Honda NSX Type R '02/452HP/1079kg/N3
1'06.801/Nissan 350Z GT4 LE '05/458HP/1224kg/N3
1'10.188/BMW M Coupe '98/424HP/1245kg/N3
1'12.422/Audi A3 3.2 Quattro '03/358HP/1270kg/N3

edit. i've done a few runs, and i must say, for what the cars i used are worth, i think these are pretty good times. i used alriver's time for the audi a3 and the bmw m coupe as a guide. i know the cars can do better, but considering the hp difference, i'm pretty happy right now. here they are.

Time : 1:17.830 1997 Honda Civic Type R (EK9), 248 bhp,924 kg on N3

Time: 1:15.593 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 Levin, 240 bhp, 194.06lb.tq, 855 kg on N3

i'll update times again when i get a chance. i'm thinking of running a Subaru Impreza Spec C, just have to tune it properly to work with the N3 tires.

Just ran with the Evo 8 MR and the NSX-R '02...

Evo easily grabbed 1'06 range
NSX easily grabbed 1'05 range... Took an extra lap or two and without much trouble managed 1'04.8 (still plenty to come off).

Wouldn't be suprised to see the NSX run faster than any of the production cars to take this challenge.

yeah. I could've gotten quicker lap times than the CSL with the NSX, but I just kinda gave up cuz I would've had to tweak the settings a lil bit more. once I got off the power on the NSX through a turn, the tail would kick out, and if I gave it power too early, it'd understeer. loads of fun with oversteer tho!!! lol. I think the BMW's and the NSX were the most fun to drive for me 👍

i'd love to see what u guys can do with a tuned front wheel drive car with n3 tires on that circuit. kent, up for a go ?

u kno, i was actually gonna try the Accord coupe V6 and the Accord Euro-R. i might do that later tonight...if i have time:ouch:*edit* also, just for future reference, it would be quite helpful if times were posted as directed. thanks!

its not much different than what u directred. i think it makes more sense the way i did. then you know which car did what.

well, I think both ways are actually quite sensible; however, I would still appreciate it if you followed the prompt. it would just make things a lot easier for me because I have to update this forum on my sidekick3. thanks!

updates on mobile... :ouch:

That said, I'm up for some FF racing. Tomorrow will be the day to try my favorites but right now I can tell you it will be the TRD Celica, Euro Accord '02, and maybe a few others (280hp EK, 210hp Cooper S, Alfa GT...).

In any case, I'm off to bed now... Got class early in the morning.

ok. i've updated my post. hope it looks better for you :D we need more people in here. i think this is a great challenge. the circuit choice is great for drifting too.

okay, here's an FF time. just did a quick 3 laps.

How much horsepower did you want me to use Kent? Well here is a time.

T1-18:918
T2-39:977
1:04:088/Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II Nur(R34) '02/911HP/1294KG/N3/AngelCreator

I think I will try one of my favorite FF cars, the Toyota Celica SS-II:D.

nice work James! can't wait to see what Kent and jgda9rs are up to either! here's a time I set earlier today:

1'03.704/BMW M5 '05/729HP/1423kg/N3

The M5 was quite a fun drive! But the high horsepower, high revving sports saloon proved to be quite a handful! I had to be very careful not to give it too much throttle coming out of the slower corners. WOT on the slow, lower geared corners would just produce excessive wheelspin; partly due to the tires. makes sense, doesn't it? anyways, that's my take. :sly:

I ran the Supra at 550 approximately just because it couldn't handle much more power on N3 tires.
However, I also ran FF...
TRD celica on a setup that I've used to run quite a quick lap on Tsukuba. However, I got whipped badly.
Like, the Celica was at 295hp and 1004kg yet I couldn't get close to the time alrivers posted in his accord.

Edit:
Btw, the Celica made it just under 1'14. :indiff:
Also, if any of you guys want to post replays I would be really happy... Obviously I'm falling behind on the course and I'd like to see where I'm being beat.
Specifically, I'm most interested in the Accord lap that dogged me and the fastest lap posted so far (which I believe are both from alrivers... the Accord and the M5). Again, thanks for letting me know what's up.
Btw, if you do get your replay up alrivers, I'll go ahead and add your name to the replay supported racers (assuming it is not already there).

Finally, I haven't seen anything about the 3 wheel off rule yet, are we going with the standard or what?

well, the only way i could post a replay is by recording it on my camera and doin youtube or something, cuz i dont have a maxdrive, nor could i afford one. Umm, all i can tell you now are my techniques if that helps. The M5 for example, took me about 100 miles to get it right! I started off going full throttle on the straight away. Just around where the straight curves left i was going about 180ish mph. Then i slammed on the brakes i believe the 2nd distance marker on the left just after u get through the slight bend. Then as i was coming out of the turn i kept it in 4th gear as to not let the wheels spin. again, i went full throttle till the next turn. On this chicane i braked as the road was about to level off after the incline. During this time i was braking and holding the analog stick to the right, so tellin the car i want it to go right! lol. kept it in 4th gear and as i went down the hilli kept two wheels on the track and 2 in the grass as i made the slight right turn before the hard right turn coming up. On these turns i shifted down to 3rd and just feathered the throttle as the car drifted through the turns. Then as i came out of the last turn before the tunnel, i kept it in 3rd and feathered the throttle, shifted into 4th and went WOT. Then slammed on the brakes just a little bit before the end of the tunnel and took the next turn at around 79 mph. After that turn, i noticed that id lose traction because of the slight crest in the road, so i had to go easy on the throttle in 4th gear or else i would just get wheel spin. Then i went full throttle just before the last turn which i took in 4th gear and came out of the last corner going about 115 mph. Finally, i crossed the finish line. I'll post my settings later if you guys wanna try this. But i must let u know that it might take a while. O, and btw, yes. we're doing the 2 wheels on the track. i edited the posts earlier. Also, if u did the 3 wheels off method, dont worry about it. ill accept your time anyways. sorry for the confusion

I will get you the replay of my skyline, and I will put up the replay of my celica(when I get one that is).

Edit:
And nice avatar Kent:tup:.

Right on fellas. No big deal about the replays... I wasn't really too interested in any except for one, the alrivers Accord. 1'11.9 I think it was. That laps replay would certainly help me see where the time is more than any other... The M5 wouldn't do much for me since I could probably hit the M5 and match the time (a guess but I did the same for the NSX).
So my interest was peaked by the idea of taking my TRD Celica that I know is fast, and putting down a lap that's two seconds slower than a 1250kg Accord...
With a PWR difference of only .2?? I thought it would be closer but obviously I'm mistaken. Sadly though, it's not like my Celica laps were in a short worthless session. I put down several laps and trimmed my time from over 1'15 down to 1'13.9 (I felt going under 1'14.0 was a good).

So in any case, if you do post a replay of some kind alrivers, post the Accord. 👍
For everyone else, I'm thinking the OLR standard sort of replay submission would be best- Voluntary unless you're posting one of the top times (top 3?).
Of course, this isn't my spotty. :sly:

Oh and thanks AngelCreator, glad you like the avatar.

hey kent, I'm currently working on trying to get a clean lap with the accord and match my last time, cuz I didn't save the replay. but yeah, still working on it and I'm pretty close. 1'12.140. I'll let u kno when I match my last time and work on getting a replay online somehow. also, if anyone has any times that he/she would like to submit, go ahead :)

*EDIT* well, I just got a quicker time than my last one and it only took me about 2 hrs ...1'11.930 with the accord v6 coupe. I'll try to post the replay by tomorrow cuz I can't find my roommates camera.

Ok I tried the Celica today but I couldn't go any faster than Kent:(.
But I did get a fast time in a FF car:), here are the time's.

There all of the replay's are uploaded:crazy:.

okay, I'm gonna try to post the replay on youtube tomorrow cuz I have it all recorded and on my laptop. anyways, I took out an old fav of mine, the Audi RS4. :dopey: did a few laps and came out with a best result of 1'07.153. I could take it slightly quicker, but I've lost patience. haha. yup. ran out of stuff to say. thanks for posting your times James. Also, Kent, just wondering if you have any official times that you'd like up on the leaderboard thing at the top of the thread! 👍

1'07.153/Audi RS4 '01/649bhp/1394kg/N3

*edit* 1'07.626/Audi S4 '03/569bhp/1377kg/N3. The S4 was a little easier to maneuver around the track, probably because it has less power to manage. nonetheless, the quattro awd and the heavyweight made for a challenging drive. :)

1'16.208/BMW Z4 3.0/299bhp/1242kg/N3/azevedojose

It's a first approach to this N3 tyres and the car setup is not really perfect. Still room for improvement.
