So, we finally received Grand Valley, and I have to say, despite having mixed opinions, I lean more on the "I'm fine with it" side, liking about 80% of it.

So what don't I like? Well, the biggest gripe for me is the absolutely insulting last sector, starting from the iconic tunnel turn after the bridge.

Not only has the tunnel turn been tightened a lot, now resembling a long hairpin, but the turn that comes after it follows immediately after, without having that very short straight connecting the two turns.

And once we exit the left hander, your instincts tell you you have to be ready to take a wide entry and slow down, but nope! What used to be a hairpin is now a quick corner, not even a 90 degree angle!

And since I know people already have mixed opinions on the track, I wanna do a poll focusing on the last sector: should it be modeled to resemble the original? Because other than the last sector, I'm honestly completely fine with the layout. It's quite faithful to the original, speaking purely from the driving experience, rather than the scenery, which was the biggest change with Grand Valley's revival.

My feeling is mixed. I didn't like the switch from the big corner to a short corner, following of the chicane. This has no purpose for a car race. Technically, this is undemanding. But, I really liked the change of the S at high speed; although I really liked the full throttle curve of the original.

Personally, I didn't like the middle sector. I found it very blocked and with low flow. The original was faster even because the track was wider.

Well unfortunately NJ and I are not the same person; we have the right to give our own distinct opinions.
Because if everyone made a thread for their own opinion we would very quickly have 90'000 threads discussing the final sector and the scenery of the circuit..

I've voted no, because even if they changed the last secor, the track is still pretty far removed from the classic Grand Valley from earlier games.

What I think they should have done is moved further away from the layout of Grand Valley (which it only loosely resembles as it is) and taken Grand Valley out of it's name, just call it Highway 1 and have released it as a new original circuit.

I’m not surprised that they’ve changed the last sector, in fact I knew this would happen cos Trial Mountain and Deep Forest fell victim to the same situation. I think the main question should be, “do we like the new Grand Valley?” .

I don't know yet, funny thing is, i did sector 1 & 2 of the CE during my lunchbreak on remote, and altho i drifted the h*ll out of Grand Valley in my TVR in GT4 , ... i have absolutely no feeling that i'm on a known track, i don't realy recognize it, corners feel different, scenery is different......, did like the flow of S1 en 2 with the GTR, golded those rather quick
but i'm going to lay them next to each other to give my braind a kick in the a*s
but if i read your post i'm in for a treat for s3 :lol:

The thing is, the last sector being changed really doesn't feel all that bad. It's not like the changes in Trial Mountain or Deep forest.

Fair enough. Just pointing out that if every member posted their own thread to give feedback on the same subject it would get pretty messy.
You're pretty new here, huh? Welcome to GT Planet, where the sensible thing is never the course of action.

It's not Grand Valley of old but there's a lot to like about this new circuit. For me the short South layout is quite fun but there are some corners that feel a bit lost. There aren't many circuits like this in GT though, nice to get an interesting location to drive around!

I don't like the fact that in the new version the middle portion of the track, the left turn after the bus stop (clockwise) previously went almost straight into the entrance of a tunnel. If you carried too much speed in you were understeering into the entrance of a tunnel.

It's now a lot further back and not as punishing.

Many people are leaning towards "leave the track as it is"

And while yes, it's unlikely PD is going to change the layout, some of Grand Valley's identity was taken away with the last sector. The rest of the track still feels a lot like Grand Valley, which is better than nothing. I'm just glad we even got the track

For those who wish to display a tribute for the iconic Gran Turismo track, here you go!

I came into this knowing that the layout would be changed. The final few corners are definitely tricky, but I'm not against it. The tight right-left chicane is basically the penultimate chicane from the original, just placed differently.
