This may have already been answered but I couldn't find any details when searching. I went to granturismo5.com and it has the following text on the page.

I also did a whois search but didn't see any reference to GTP.

So, anyone know who's opening the site? Do they have any affiliation with GTP?

Bah, the whois site I used didn't show a logo, but just tried another and it came up.

I don't think Jordan owns the domain. Some guy called Chris Phillips actually owns it, so maybe Jordan is in the process of buying it.

I've owned the domain for a little over a year now and will be developing a site around it sometime later this summer.
 
But, why not here? Why a new site? Is it to prevent too much traffic from knocking GTP offline frequently? Or just to organize things?

I'm guessing that with the launch of GT5 on the PS3 there's going to be a new huge fan base that won't require all the information from GTP (e.g, new players that are not interested in GT1, 2, 3, 4. This new site could be just a host for all the new GT5 related information which is accumulated through GTP.

Some people also prefer not to use a forum, some just want to visit a site, look for the answer and then shoot off without having to register.
 
Organization, yes, but mainly to attract more people from search engines. Having the search term in the domain is a big asset, and will help me compete with the big gaming sites who can spend lots of time and money on SEO. The new site will contain lots of content, but will ultimately/hopefully lead people here.

Hard work, has good results. granturismo5.com will probably be more famous than playstation.com, or CNET.net, or even G4.
