Since I play GT3 I have noticed some graphical "limitation" impressions... buildings appearing, sings that simple disappear, spot lights that are not present in certain positions of the tracks (night)... and many more.

Does anyone have some feedback from Sony or Polyphony about hardware limitations of PS2 or GT3? How great can be the games graphically?

That's pretty standard with any 3D game/engine. If you look at first person shooters, the textures usually aren't full quality until they are in the foreground of the screen. The other way they pull additional power out of the hardware is by turning some items off when they are not necassarily vital to the visual aspect of the game.

As far a limitations, they haven't reach them yet. When GT3 released, they thought they had pushed the PS2 close to its limits. Shortly after that, Sony came out with a test rig that could run a printout of how and where(and how much) a game is using the CPU and memory. After running this test, they found that GT3 was only using about 45% of available CPU speed, and 60% of memory!
Now that they can see how the system is effected by the game (in real time) I can't wait to see what they do with GT4 :D

Well if that is true, then I'm sure that the xbox and gamecube is heading the same way that the dreamcast went.

Have you got a web adress where the thing is posted ?? I would like to check it out ...

Personally, I reckon the extent to which the PS2 is untaxed by GT3 is indicated by how well it copes with super high speed generated by hybrids. I reckon Tokyo is a relatively intensive course, and I've had 300+mph down the back straight in a 3300bhp Speedser, and it remained smooth as butter.

Yes, if you compare, for example, Tokyo and Route 11 tracks you will see lots of difference in there... maybe cause Route 11 is a night track with all these spot lights and neons. I was taking a look at Seattle and it's pretty cool except for some objects that simply appear in the corner of your eyes. Tokyo is really awesome in graphic performance...
