Hey all, just joined the forums today. I am disappointed to see that some standard cars have such bad quality (supra RZ 97 looks really bad). I also feel like overall, the graphics compared to GT5 has had a slight downfall. It seems as if anti-aliasing does not exist and the lighting is not to great. Now my question is, does anyone else feel the same or is it just me?

I switched over from playing on an old 55 inch TV to my 21.5 inch monitor (Felt the TV was too far from seating). I tried GT5 back on my monitor but I still find some standard cars to be better detailed there than on GT6. Toyota supra RZ 97 is my favorite car and im sad to see how bad its detailed :(

It's slightly worse than gt5 because they added better lighting some like it some don't, i think on certain levels it looks really good

The lighting model is much better in sunny locations, and the sunset locations. I haven't raced at all the locations yet, but I think it's an improvement. The light reacts better inside the car too.

You guys are right, lighting does look better however it does depend on the map and time of day. At the time of sunset the lighting can be great but I still feel as if something is missing. Judging by cockpit view and the gauges, quality is definitely worst. My cousin enjoyed playing without HUD and using the gauge strictly, for certain cars, but he claims the numbers and all the details are blurred.

Playing on a 720p tv by any chance? I turned my 1080p off and noticed the car models get a little more jagged. I was trying to improve framerate.

I think that GT6 now looks more like a videogame rather than a reality refering game.
Everything looks like plastik i think.
I think thatthe GT5 graphics were a bit better.
But I'm not saying that GT6 is a bad game, I love it, but in my opinion it looks now to much like a PC game.

The game to me also looks a lot worse than GT5. I play GT5 and it looks great, along with every other game that I play on this TV. I bought GT6, and from the first time I hit the track, I could tell it wasn't as clear, or as smooth running like GT5 was/is. I have not changed any setting on the PS3, or my TV. Its been calibrated, and like I said every other game I own (like 80 or so) runs smooth and looks great. Does anyone know what the heck is up with this?. Its confusing because some say it looks great, and much improved. Yet some on here, including me think its a major step back. I am very anal regards image quality, so please don't suggest that its my eyes or anything.

I think GT6 looks great. Most of the standard cars seem look better than GT5, but I refuse to use standards unless I absolutely have to. The new cars added to GT6 are very impressive for the PS3. It's pretty damn cool to see the KTM's wishbones working as you drive.

I haven't noticed much that make me disappointed with the graphics at first glance... Maybe if I popped in GT5 I would notice more, but overall I'm happy given the fact that it's still on the PS3 and I wasn't expecting it to look different...???

I will say there have been some moments were I noticed it looking much better and have been WOWed by what I've seen...

Personally GT6 is a HUGE leap over GT5 in the graphics department "at times" Minus the untouched standards, lighting, colors fluid motion looks way better. GT5 was washed out, pixelated and sterile

Im not seeing how GT5 is better...at all! :p
well the photomode looked better for me, it could be that it's just my 10 years old plasma tv

The jaggies just look horrible, some people said the track needs to load first, so a few laps in it should look better, not sure how I feel about that.

The jaggies are absolutely horrible on some tracks. I could not even concentrate on Gran Turismo Arena for the Shifter Kart #3 race because the jaggies were everywhere.

I don't like how the Nordschleife looks either ... thought it was my TV so I popped in GT5 and nope, it looked great on GT5.

It is even hard to read the license plates of many cars when I come up behind them, they are either too dark or too jaggy.

I don't get what some people are complaining about. The graphics and especially the tracks itself look way better than GT5.

My fiance's TV where my PS3 now resides is a lower-end model, so I assumed the difference was between playing GT5 on my TV and GT6 on her's but the complaints here are similar to what I felt. The shimmering, pop-in shadows on tracks is just terrible, too.

I'm also a bit disapointed, mainly because of the aliasing ! I checked if it wasn't my eyes or my memory by relaunching GT5...
I also thought it was my TV (720p or 1080i only, no 1080p), but GT5 looks a lot more "cleaner" than GT6.

On some tracks, for example GT Arena, the aliasing is too much present for me ! The lines are flashing, twinkeling, it's not very pleasant to play in these conditions compared to GT5 !

Of course it won't stop me playing the game, but it's a shame that Poly didn't keep the AA from GT5 !

In these 2 comparison videos, you can easily see the aliasing in GT6 :

It's a 7 years old piece of hardware with a video card that was already 3 years old back then and a laughable 256 meg of video ram, what do you expect?

I'd have to say I've noticed a slight improvement in GT6 over GT5, but not much. Wasn't really expecting much anyway beings they are both run on the same console. Wait until it releases on the PS4 if you want to see a big difference in graphics.

To me, gt6 graphics are way better than gt5, only cockpit views look worse on gt6.
Also night races are toooooo dark, on replay it looks like your car is racing on space, you can't even see the road.
Apart from this, gt6 looks amazing. 👍
When I saw the sunset driving at nurburgring today I got so amazed that I completly forgot the track and crashed my car.

The graphics are really good displayed on my monitor, much better than in GT5. I experience some frame drop sometimes though. And when I race, the image is sharp but in replay mode it is very blurry.

graphics are really good but frame rate is really bad sometimes, especially at for example ascari, really really bad framerate not smooth at all

I've got two PS3's installed and will start up GT5 & GT6 tomorrow, same car same track, same tv. I'll ask people which one is looking best:lol:

yeah there wasn't that much of an improvement in the raw graphics and framerate department overall...but good thing how they improved the rate of time loading those graphics. A little bit more update soon and it will get better im sure :)

I had a small update today to GT6. Not sure what it was for but the graphics seemed worst today. Jerky backgrounds and jaggy lines as you head down the track. Did not notice that before today. Graphics seemed better than in GT5 until today. It may have been nothing to do with the graphics but it seemed like it. Maybe just me.
