GrassRoot Motorsports?

Hey, why did you guys mention in the past that grassroot motorsports was such a great automotive magazine? I went to their website and ordered 1 free issue, and it arrived today. (I believe that offer is still valid, for those of you who are interested.)

I havn't had a chance to read all their articles completely yet, but from what I can see, is GrassRoots just about how they tune their cars? Not that this is completely a bad thing, but I was wondering if they ever go into general automotive information like news, reviews, etc? Thanks.

You've just answered your own question. They are not automotive fashion victims who report on the latest trends. They are real racers and car enthusiasts who support realistic racing and restoration efforts.

They review new cars all the time; everything from the new M3 to the Subaru Forrester. The latest issue has along article comparing 2004 trucks for use as tow vehicles. In fact they recently did a comparison in which their Honda Odyssey minivan soundly thrashed a well-restored E-type and a Porsche 156 on the autocross course! Even better, they review used cars that an enthusiast might be looking to buy, such as Porsche 944s, a big comaprison on affordable near-supercars, and tons of amateur racing coverage.

The reason I love the magazine to death is that it's 100% about real, on-track perfomance and 0% about show cars and street racing. Many autocross cars are also daily drivers, and what works in the cones also makes the car more fun to drive over all. Plus they take you step by step through their buildups, over multiple issues, and they are not afraid to say what works and what doesn't.

Yea, and don't forget they're not above puttin' them fine wimmen in the photo shoots! That junkyard article had me sportin' wood! :D

Reads GRM for the articles, too

GRM is the BEST title on the market if you are an enthusiast that cares about performance and so on. It's not filled with pretty cars and all that it's about being real. I have read this magazine since the first issue and am good friends with the guys that run it, they are REAL enthusiasts that care about the automotive lifestyle. Note that they don't sell out to those guys advertising stuff like neon lights and body kits.

👍 That's exactly why I got my subscription, Duke.

I also like their SCCA and NASA coverage.

I dont have a subscription, but I go to the store and read their magazine there. Its a great magazine. They are the ones who led me to find out that you could get a used Dodge Viper RT/10 for about $30K-40K, which I think is awesome considering what your getting...
