I've included a screenshot from GTA: Vice City I just bought today. Now, I know I'm probably making a simple or common error but I can't get the game to apply itself in 1024x768x32 graphics. It is stuck in 640x480x16, stretched to fit my monitor. I've messed with the graphics card and enabled Anti-aliasing to take care of the pixely-look but it's still got relatively poor graphics.

As you can see it doesn't look that bad, but when stretched to fit my monitor it just looks stupid.

Any suggestions or solutions?

I checked. I've got latest everything, and the only VC patch was for a polygon glitch experienced with some old DirectX problem.

When you change the res, you have to click/ press enter on the res you want. I think. Then it changes. Just saying incase ya missed it.

I had that problem too.

Try this as well, this should force the game to run at 1024 x 768 res if you can't get the game to run by changing the settings:

Create a shortcut to Vice City on your desktop (if there isn't one already). Right click on it and select properties. Change the

"c:\program files\rockstargames\vicecity\vicecity.exe"

(or whatever it is) to

"c:\program files...\vicecity.exe" +szx 1024 +szy 768

(note the szx szy is outside the quotes).

My Dad does something like that when my resulution changes don't work. It works every time. 👍

Never done it myself though, and it wasn't with this game anyway.

Thanks donbenni and c_k. I realized that yes, you had to do an extra click with the resolution instead of merely selecting it like everything else. But what really messed with my head was at some points it would say "option not available" so I figured it couldn't be supported for some reason.

I had that problem with vc too. I couldn't figure out how to select it now, until i realised it said how to select it at the bottom of the page :dunce:

so how's it look now?

before and afters, please.

Check out the Pics of GTA in the PS2/GTA forum. The small one is the before, the big one is the after.

Note that in the afters, they all have max antialiasing shadow/lighting effects. Very nice.
