For a bit of fun, since this is inevitably a thread mostly for the "English speaking countries", I will say that my favourite broadcasters are the finnish. They talk litle, and I can't understand them anyway, so I focus on the action.

Same would apply to Lauda in the RTL feed, because I don't know a word of german, but the problem is he talks way too much.

Anyway, in "ENG" land, I'll say that James Hunt made me a "posthumus" fan after I heard on Youtube some amazing lines as commentator, these two, during two different Monaco Grand Prix, being on the top of my "favorite lines" list.

One is this, about Arnoux's "excuse" for being slow ...
at 0:25 - "And all I can say to that is: 🤬 "

And the other is my personal favourite. In a chaotic Grand Prix finish, when the race leader changed every 5 seconds and nobody apparently wanted to finish the race ... JH said:
at 4:18 - "Well, we've got this ridiculous situation where we're all sitting by the start-finish line waiting for a winner to come past and we don't seem to be getting one!"

Nobody can even begin to compare to Murray Walker, james hunt was a great partnering with him. I really like Martin Brundle too but he can sometimes bang on a bit much about technical stuff just for the sake of it and get himself a bit off topic.

Really, Murray Walker just has no comparison. If I have to make a list.

1. Murray Walker
2. James Hunt
3. Martin Brundle
4. Karun Chandhok

The best brocasting team to me was Paul Page play by play, Sam Posey with color commentary, and Gary Gerould in the pits. Page's voice was serious and commanded your attention, Sam Posey had a way of making everything he said sound poetic. Ill never forget Posey's speech blasting Mercedes for endangering the lives of its drivers and track workers for deciding to race the CLRs at LeMans 1999. Gary Gerould is also an NBA broadcaster

Here the three call the final laps of the 1989 Indy 500 with Paul Page, Sam Posey comes in at :22, Gary Gerould at :56

Seeing as people are posting videos of the other commentators:

Ben Edwards & John Watson commentary:

Toby Moody & Julian Ryder commentary:

Charlie Cox & John Watson commentary:

John Hindhaugh commentary:

Murray Walker & James Hunt commentary:

Ben Edwards & Tim Harvey commentary:

Classic Murray, with some decent Charlie Cox, some brilliant Barry Nutley at Thruxton and sadly only a few smidges of Steve Slater.

3:11 "The dancing #14 Peugeot, Patrick Watts as well-LOOK AT WILL HOY'S DOOR FLAPPING IN THE BREEZE!"

6:02 "Woah, and Watts is in deep, deep trouble and what the Dickens was that all about?! It's a never ending spin and here come the tyres..!

6:19 "'Anthony Nissan'... steady chap, steady Walker!"

More Charlie Cox w/ John Watson. Watson wasn't the best commentator, but I always liked his voice.

3:12 is one of the dirtiest moves I've ever seen in touring cars. Only bettered by Roberto Ravaglia at Brands Hatch in 1996.

I do not like Ben Edwards but 4:40 is my favourite John Watson moment;
"BOSH! Into the barrier, and Michael Schumacher is out of this year's Grand Prix before one lap has been completed!"

The stress he puts on some words is both baffling and amazing.

Funny Indycar start in Australia, followed by Michael Andretti's charge to the front, Paul Page in the broadcast booth

Geeze i havent heard any of those European guys There will be a huge rift between American commetators and European ones. My first reactionn was: Antony Davidson and Karun Chandok do commentary? I doubt Europeans have heard "Boogety boogety lets go racing!"
