Grid position penalty in online League

Hi, guys!
I've created an online League with some friends in F1 20 and I'm confused with that grid position penalty, I don't know exactly what that does.
I applied 3 points there, but those points only appear in the column, can anyone tell me what those points exactly do ? ( I saw that it have nothing to do with the driver points)

Not in any leagues myself but I think looking at your screenshot Grid Penalty means the next race in the league that driver will be "dropped" 3 places on the grid from where they qualify in the next race.
